About the banned words... When you've been streaming for over two years, and when you spend several hours of your day online, you tend to see a lot of the same material. For an example, let's use the Ramirez joke. The average person might have heard RAMIREZ BLOW UP THAT TANK a few times, but because I'm constantly monitoring a chatroom, I see it a lot more than the average person - enough to be sick of it. A lot of the Ramirez jokes are just "RAMIREZ (do something happening onscreen), OSCAR MIKE STAY FROSTY". It's not funny, because there is no wit involved. If I was playing Mass Effect 2 and someone said "SHEPARD BLOW UP THAT REAPER WITH A STICK OF BUBBLE GUM, ILLUSIVE MAN SIT IN FRONT OF A SUN" that would be an improvement. However, no one ever makes clever Ramirez / Oscar Mike jokes; they just say the meme without adding anything to it. The "Gabe Newell is fat" meme is funny to me because every time I hear it, it is used in a witty manner. No one just outright says, "Gabe Newell is fat," they say something clever, like, "Wow, your character is gaining a lot of weight, is he training for a sumo match with Gabe?" All memes have the potential to be funny if you actually utilize creativity. Just SAYING a meme isn't funny, but spicing it up with your own humor is a sign that you can actually make your own jokes. Saying a sentence involving the word "candlejack" and then ending your sentence prematurely isn't funny. It's just playing along with a gag. Now, if people actually did so in an original and creative way, then I would be amused. Before the >implying meme was filtered, everyone in the chat would use it if one person used it. >>Implying everyone would use it >>Implying they wouldn't >>Implying that everyone didn't use it when it wasn't filtered >>Implying using double negatives >>Implying that my use of double negatives invalidates my argument >>Implying that your argument was valid in the first place >>Implying that my argument is not valid >>Implying I care whether or not your argument is valid >>Implying that you would type so much if you didn't care >>Implying that I'm actually taking this seriously and not just trolling you FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFASDFGHJKLThe >implying meme is also stupid because people always use it to suggest that I have implied something that I never actually implied. "Ooh, this game was made by Acclaim! I'm excited!" >>Implying that Acclaim makes good games "No, I don't think that Acclaim makes good games. Acclaim games are full of bugs and glitches. I'm excited because sometimes streaming a glitchy game is funny." People can't even imply correctly, so why should I allow them to? The reason that the word "lag" is filtered is well-documented. The phrase "inb4" is stupid. What is so great about announcing something before it happens? If you predict or anticipate a certain event, then state a reason WHY you believe it's going to happen, don't just blurt out your first thought. If you sarcastically respond to someone's story by saying "cool story, bro" you are demeaning the effort that they put into telling you something, which is just rude and disrespectful. If someone took the time out of their day to tell you a story, don't make them feel bad for actually putting effort into a narrative. There was a point in time where absolutely everyone would say "Eva is playing Doom 3" when the screen was black. It was charming the first few times, but after a week of hearing this, it got very very stale. The same thing is happening with "1 FPS" but at least "1 FPS" is a literal description of a technical problem and not some corny attempt to sound funny. Typing plz instead of please or u instead of you makes me think that you're lazy and/or don't know how to spell correctly. I can't filter 'u' in all cases when it's supposed to mean 'you', but thankfully, I can get rid of 'plz' and all variations. If you're asking someone to do something for you, at least be courteous enough to spell "please" correctly to show that you are being sincere. Should of/Could of/Would of/Must of/Could care less will never ever ever be unfiltered, because they are ungrammatical and no one should say these things because they are incorrect. ![]() "I am 12 and what is this" is not a funny statement. There is no humor there are all. If you want to ask a question, just ask it normally, or invent your own witty way to be funny, rather than using a stupid meme. I don't think I need to say a single word about "Halo invented." As for "do eet," I just get this mental image in my head of a juvenile pre-teen middle schooler whenever someone says that. As for "nigger" and "faggot"...I'm pretty sure that the intelligence level of anyone who uses demeaning slurs is far below the intelligence level of someone who decides not to use these words. I'd love to ban anyone who says these words on sight, but I'm hoping that by censoring the words, I am getting across the message that you can't act like you're in /b/ when you're in my stream, and that this will improve people's word choices. And last, there is no need to mock someone for dying or goad them into anger. Saying "u ded" is retarded, and saying "u mad" is even worse, but if I censored "u mad" then a lot of valid phrases like "you made" would be banned as well, so unfortunately, I have to leave the phrase unfiltered - although you'll still get a slap on the wrist for using such a phrase.
