The PoGo neighborhood is being built where the former Port George Docks were which sits along the waterfront of the city. Here is the planned area below. Everything in red includes the first phase of the plan. ![]() 1. Starbrook Tower- 2,690ft. 2. Bank of Oregon Tower- 2,325ft. 3. Courk Hotel- 1,500ft. 4. The Livingston Building- 1,242ft. 5. International Trade Center Tower 1- 1,840ft. 6. International Trade Center Tower 2- 1,840ft. Mayor Browning was quoted saying, "This plan for the PoGo neighborhood, which is an abbreviation of Port George, is to further improve upon our growing and vibrant business, and commercial sectors. In Port George, the addition of these buildings are much needed as space in the Port George Financial District decreases. Now, this is only phase one of the plan which is scheduled to take 6 years. Starbrook Inc., which was formely based in the United Kingdom of Yorkland and Puerto Rico eventually moving it's headquarters to Port George, has bought a plot in the former Portland Docks area and will be financing the construction of the tallest building in the nation and in North America. The Bank of Oregon will also be building a 2,325ft. tower to house it's new offices as business grows and finances in Oregon continue to raise in healthy levels. The Courk Group, based in Salem, will be building it's 9th hotel in the state, the Courk Hotel, which will include 100 rooms of affordable and luxury apartments. The Livingston Building, which will stand at 1,242ft., is being built by the Livingston Company, and will include a 3,000 sq.ft. Brown's Bookstore. Lastly, as international trade continues to expand and Oregon's influence continues to grow, the construction of the International Trade Center will begin with the building of two towers standing at 1,840ft. All of these buildings will include retail, which will be vital to the community of Port George, and the time schedule for phase one will be from 2050-2056 and phase two will be from 2057-2067. Phase two will include the construction of a new mall, a new stadium for Port George F.C., a new campus for Stargill University, a high rise that will be 40% affordable housing, and 4 new schools. Two of the schools will be high schools and the other two will be elementary. Also, the Port George High School of Performing Arts, and the International High School of Port George will be the high schools that occupy the new school buildings." POLITICS King Albert I Recognized as the Rightful King of the U.K., at Least in Oregon and Vermont. Recently, the National Assembly put forth the "Royal Register Amendment #29: Recognition of King Albert I" and it passed virtually unanimously by the government. This move was made with the guidance of King Joseph II due to the nature of the act, as a sign of acceptance of King Albert I who is homosexual and who's ascension to the throne has stirred some controversy among many of the middle North American nations. Shortly after, the King of Vermont, Richard II, issued a royal decreee that also recognizes King Albert I as the rightful King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Island, along with it's many possessions. King Joseph II said, "King Albert I, a very smart and humble young man, is fit for the task of being the United Kingdom's sovreign as was King William V. He is a great person, and I hope that we look at that, his character, above all else." Prime Minister Daniel Londs has said, "The notion that King Albert I isn't fit to be the U.K.'s monarch is ridiculous. Who are we to say that based off of his sexuality, he shouldn't be able to execute his birthright?". The Leader of the Opposition Roy Mackenzie has yet to comment. NATIONAL People's Day Celebrations in Port George Most Watched in History. ![]() This year, the People's Day fireworks celebration was aired on StarTV! and ABN with a combined viewership of 11 million, making it the highest in the nation's history. At the January Ball, which coincides with the People's Day celebration, bringing together royalty, and regular Oregonians, King Joseph II had this to say: "Today is a beautiful and momentous day in our lives. It marks the day we removed ourselves from the restraints of the Holy Pacific Empire, and embraced a national identity of our own. We've persevered through civil war, and economic issues that have propelled us to a unique position today. As you know, this monarchy continues to be unlike any other around the world. We pride ourselves on true democracy and no interference in government. As your King, I will continue to uphold a quarter of a century of tradition and importance in our culture, and continue to set an example around the world." The "January Ball was broadcast on the monarchy's channel, OMC (Oregon Monarchy Channel) and drew in a comfortable 8 million viewers. The Crown Prince was spotted by some reporters with a mystery woman over the weekend, but it is unclear who the woman was or if she attended the ball or not. |

BUSINESS and NATIONAL Banking Industry Gets Stronger with United Funds Metropolitan. ![]() United Funds Metropolitan was officially formed today in Port George as a merger agreement between United Funds Bank and Metropolitan Bank. UFB was the nation's 5th largest bank from 2025-2050, while MB was the nation's 7th largest bank from 2038-2050. Upon the merger, UFMB becomes the nation's 4th largest bank surpassing Reeds Financial Banking by a mere OC20 billion (Oregon Crowner) in total assets and 3,000 more employees. The merger had nothing to do with financial issues, but it was more of a "vote of confidence" in the banking and financial industries according to new CEO of United Funds Metropolitan Bank, Dan Kirkwood. This move could prompt other smaller banks to merge in the hopes of attracting new customers. Edited by Nevaonearth, Aug 14 2011, 08:26 AM.

NATIONAL and POLITICS Prime Minister on HPE, Washington, and the Winter Olympics. ![]() The question on many minds is: "Will the HPE rise again?" According to this government, they want to make sure that the Democratic Kingdom of Oregon will never rejoin the HPE should it resurface again. When we asked the Prime Minister why the government put forward the bill he said, "Our democratic kingdom is unlike anyother. It was very much modeled on the principles of the United Kingdom of Yorkland and Puerto Rico, in the sense that the monarchy wasn't above anyone, and that the government had the legroom to manuever the way it needed to in the aim of preserving democracy. This kind of system was not present when we were apart of the Holy Pacific Empire, and that is why we left." We then asked the Prime Minister about the relations we share with Washington, which to this day continue to be murky. "Our relations with Washington aren't the best, I will say that, but they aren't entirely bad either. The problem in our relationship, is that we as a nation, as the Democratic Kingdom of Oregon, have grown so ideologically different, our politics don't match up, Oregon is continuing it's climb as a strong and reliable economic presence, and the list goes on and on. It's not about us being against Washington, it's about how we've grown as a nation and the fact that we aren't inclined to rejoing the HPE again, which continues to operate in a smaller capacity in Washington." When asked whether or not he'd be attending the Winter Olympics, he said, "A decision on that hasn't been made as of yet. There are still some things to factor in when a national leader decides to attend these events, however I am confident that the Oregonian Olympic Team and all of our participants will represent the democratic kingdom brilliantly and I will be rooting for them every step of the way." In a nutshell, it's clear that the ruling party, the Democratic Liberal Movement Party, and the National Party, will be voting to ensure that our nation doesn't fall back into the union of the HPE. |
