State: Louisiana
Adjacent States being claimed: Arkansas, Mississippi
Official/New Name: The Greater Louisiana Republic
Type of Government:Republic
Leader and Title: President Brian A. Murphy

History since independence: After the fall of the United States, the three states tried to "Go it alone" as independent nations. During the 2015 Louisiana presidential election, candidate Brian Murphy spoke of uniting with other former southern states to form one powerful nation that would have more of a chance to succeed economically. After his election, Murphy entered into talks with Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, and Missouri. The Murphy, as well as the presidents of Arkansas and Mississippi, agreed to a plebiscite that would decide the issue. The merger took a couple of years, but eventually a constitution, capitol, and nation name were agreed to. The first federal elections of the Greater Louisiana Republic were held in 2018. The presidents of all three former nations ran for the top job, but Louisiana's Murphy came out on top.

Government:

Executive:President of the GLR has powers similar to the former president of the United States
-Leader(s): Brian A. Murphy
Legislative: House composed of 164 members. Senate composed of 64 members
-Leader(s): Speaker of the House Davis Reilly, President of the Senate if Vice President Joel Quigley
Judicial: 9 Justices
-Leader(s): Chief Justice Cathryn Kimball

How is the Executive chosen: Elected by popular vote of the people
How is the Legislative chosen: Elected by the people of their House or Senate districts
How is the Judicial chosen: Aappointed by the president and appointed by the Senate

Is Military under civilian command or autonomous, and who is the commander: Civcilian command. The president is commander-in-chief.

Other important governmental information / important people: The capital of GLR is Baton Rouge. The constitution is almost a carbon copy of the USA. The old Louisiana State Capital Building (the one built in the 1930's, not the OLD old capital building) has been expanded to accommodate the new members.

Other Important information about your Nation: Nah

I object to the union of Louisiana and Mississippi. That's unnatural.
