LOL, especially @ Rockin' The Ayer-waves and Poida's Best Friend.

Didn't they chant 'come by here' to Ali? That's what it was in the movie. Koom-bi-ay, as if in, koom-bi-ah, m'lord, koom-bi-ah.

*writes some these names down*

Thanks. To save me posting this all the time, I'll just keep doin this if people make good suggestions.

In the HBO movie "Only in America" about Don King, they talk about it. George Foreman is training, Muhammed Ali comes by with a huge crowd of people chanting "Ali, kom-bay-ye!" Foreman asks what it means, and someone tells him they're shouting for Ali to kill him.

Antonio Inoki has apparently "borrowed" this, probably because he's proud of his defeat of Muhammed Ali when Ali was in his prime.

From Wikipedia:

Foreman and Ali spent much of the summer of 1974 training in Zaire, and getting their bodies used to the weather in the tropical African country. Ali also spent his time there endearing himself to Zaire's citizens. Because of that, many of them could be heard during the fight saying the phrase Ali bomaye!, which translates to English as Ali kill him!.

From ESPN:

Ali, bomaye! Ali, bomaye! 60,000 Zairois chanted "Ali, kill him" as he stepped into the ring against the heavily favored George Foreman in 1974. The cheer was ringing evidence of Ali's international appeal, but it wasn't exactly spontaneous: During training sessions, Ali had coached fans and onlookers to repeat the chant after him.

Back on topic, "Bomaye" isn't a bad suggestion for a band name, but as we've seen, there might be a lot of confusion over what it means.

Ok, believe ya now. Leftover Talent is the most popular one with the band. It means we aren't talented enough to make a living out of this, cos we have the leftover talent.

My band was along the same vibes for a name, called Poor Excuse. With our ever changing line-up (Anyone else have a problem with the reliability of drummers? Bastards) we've had a few names we haven't used, so yeah, here's a few I can remember.

Slippery When Wet- (We actually used this one, was quite good)

The Donkey Punchers

Sorry

Leave Now

Moist

Mr Happy's Super Mega Wonderful Exciting Experience That Is Us

Yeah, as you may be able to tell, we didn't exactly take this seriously.

Moist is actually a band. I have one of their songs, "Leave it Alone". Decent stuff, sorta soft a flowy. A bit like The Cure without the 80s.

I always wanted to call my band 'Very Special Guests' or 'Support' purely because it'll look amusing if you're ever a support band on the posters for a gig.

I like that, Mark. Clever.

That is cool. If you wanted to be REALLY popular you could call yourselves The Unappreciated Society of Redundant Fraggle Rock Construction Workers. It's our pub-quiz name. We're so popular when the guy has to write it on the score board each week. Think of the room it would take up on posters!
