OK, everytime I click on the "3 New Messages" thing at the top of my main MSN window, it takes me to my email inbox briefly (usually about 3 seconds) before taking me to a "Search For" window, complete with 6 or 7 pop-ups. It's infuriating, as I can't check my emails, and there is NO WAY to stop it. It's not only happened on my laptop, but also on my PC at home. The two PCs have no programs in common, as I don't download much at home, as I'm on dial up. Any ideas? I'm completely without email till this is solved. |

Looks like you've got Spyware. Go to http://www.lavasoft.de and download Ad-Aware, run it, and it'll find all the evil spyware in your registries, cookies, etc, and then let you delete them. Good luck. |

It's Spyware/Adware most likely. You've picked it up off of a site you visited. Possibly off of a Wrestling "Rumors" site if you visit them because most I've been to has loaded me up with Spyware/Adware. To be more specific, you probably have a peice of Spyware/Adware called "About:Blank" becaue I have a similar problem. It sends me to a "Search For..." page every time a "About:Blank" page comes up. This peice of Spyware/Adware is an affiliate of "CoolWWWSearch" and gets money from them every time they make you go to the search page. I have tried three different programs to remove this. Both "Ad-aware" and "Spy-bot S&D" can't seem to detect it but I found that "Spyware Doctor" can! Although I can't remove it because that program can't if you use windows 95 or 98 and I still run 98. So, if you get "Spyware Doctor" (Can be found at www.download.com) then you shouldn't have a problem removing it if your running a higher windows then 98. Good luck, and I hope I was helpful.

Thats excellent, thanks a lot guys. Turns out I had over 40 spy-ware infections on my laptop! Ouch. I used Spyware Doctor, taking Kain's advice that this problem can't be fixed with Ad-Aware, and it's ALLLLLL gone. Thanks again. |

Cool... Glad you got it taken care of Hutch. Yeah, Spyware/Adware are some real pests because alot of the time you don't know you got any or where it came from. But yeah, glad yours is all fixed up... now if only I can figure out how to get rid of it using Windows 98 ![]() Peace, Kain EDIT: I would suggest also getting Ad-aware or Spy-Bot because it's better to have two so if one doesn't catch it, the other will. Because there's been a few times one found something while the other didn't. So, yeah, it's better to have two different ones, just in case. |

another good idea would be to download Mozilla Thunderbird, rather than using the internet to view your emails |
