Things I learnt whilst watching Spider-Man 3

  • Omlettes are an instant cure for amensia and other serious head traumas

  • Never say "I would give my life for them" unless you REALLY mean it

  • Ground breaking scientific experiments take place in an open ditch protected only by chicken wire

  • Molecular deconstructors destroy everything except lockets containing pictures needed to remind the audience of character motivation

  • Butlers and their employers don't talk in between movies

  • To be evil is to brush one's fringe down and dance down the street

  • The price of true evil is greasy hair

What a disappointing film...

*laughs* Well said. Perhaps other things we've learnt is to not force Raimi to put in a character he doesn't like or he'll pay you back with a crappy script. That even when casting the most insignificant of characters, say news reporters, one should still use people who can actually act. That Stan Lee should not be allowed on set and that Marvel should stop thier franchises at two.

Indeed. Some very lazy writing going on there. The butler for one...

***SPOILERS AHEAD***

Where'd the hell did he come? And if he's been there since the first film did it not dawn on him to come forth with this information like two films ago? And how come he's such an expert on knife wounds? A lazy plot device crowbarred in so that Harry would go off to Pete's aid.

***END SPOILERS***

On the plus side: Bruce Campbell. What a legend he is.

At first, I was thinking that Venom had kidnapped Marco's daughter... or at least he should have! See, it could have gone like this:

After bonding with Brock, the symbiote tells him about all the stuff Petey Parker knows, and one such interesting tidbit is the Sandman. Venom learns more about Marco after researching him by means of Daily Bugle bios or whatever. You know, 'cause Brock's sneaky like that. He finds out Flint has a sickly daughter and nabs the brat in order to force the Sandman with a heart of gold into a situation where's he's forced to be evil. That way, when Flint says, "I never wanted to be this" or whatever touching line he spews, it would have had more impact damnit!

Anyways... I don't know why people are so disgusted by strutting Parker. I thought that stuff was gold! Not really... but it was funny.

I thought he looked very Emoish as the symboite took over.

I wasn't displeased by the movie, but it wasn't the best movie I had ever seen for sure, Venom died way too fast IMHO.

They're making at least three more, apparently, and Venom is currently rumoured to be the main villain in the next one, after he barely got any time at all this time out...

Funny how there was a random meteor shower at the precise time Parker was woooing MJ in the park.

Funny that! In a BAD way!

That scene was incredibly funny, and in that sense I enjoyed it, but it felt so out of place.

They should have saved him for a film where he could take centre stage.

Funnier still how an alien symbiot(SP? Too tired to check it) knew to cling to the back of a moped to get around.

I find it funny that people choose to nitpick the believability of things in a movie about super heroes and alien symbiotes. If anything bugged me in the movie, it was the lack of "we" and "us" from Venom, but I suppose it being early in the 'relationship' it's excuseable.

Um... spoilerz.

I wouldn't call it a sloppy script. I mean, the locket surviving the molecular thingy WAS a bit dumb, but the other stuff makes sense.

I'm pretty sure Dr. Butlerman could tell if he'd seen the glider before and seen a wound in Osborne's stomach that looks SUSPICIOUSLY LIKE THE GLIDER he could put two and two together. Plus he's a creepy old butler. You know he wanders around the house, snooping in your shit. Harry wouldn't be prodding at his beloved dead father's wounds, but the butler? Sure. And why didn't he tell Harry earlier? Well because Harry's batshit fucking loco.

Harry: I CARRY AROUND THIS KNIFE FOR STAB SPIDERMAN!

Butler: Spider-man didn't kill your dad. Your dad doesn't know how to move out of the way of his own damn glider. He's a noob.

Harry: NOW KNIFE IS FOR KILLING YOU!!!!!

As opposed to...

Harry: Spider-man's a dick, he killed my dad... but he also set me on fire. I'll just be sitting at home watching Desperate Housewives.

Butler: Dude, your dad done killed hisself and you tried to set spidey on fire first. Go save Spidey, don't be a douche.

Harry: kk brb.

I'm completely with 'Mo here. That and INCINERATING THE HOLY LIVING FUCK OUT OF VENOM ASAP were the only problems I had in the movie.

Well, that and the one small loophole that in the first movie the pumpkin bombs instantly vaporized anyone caught in the explosion. In this movie, they don't UNLESS YOU HAPPEN TO BE EDDIE BROCK JR. Because Sam Raimi hates Venom.
