How'd you all discover effeding?

I was just remembering how I got started in efedding. I am really glad I started it, because I made a lot of cool friends over the years, and I am glad I got back into recently. I forgot how much fun it was.

I think back in my 5th grade year they found out I am Dyslexic and have ADD. So after that my mom was always doing her best to help me over come this, or at least get it under control, cus words used to get all mixed around while I read and I had no interest in reading at the time, it got to confusing. lol! Anyways, when I was 15, a freshman in high school, I had this teacher Mr. Kooglen (Real f'n name!) He looked like the teacher from Welcome Back Carter. But he was cool. He could take a joke and dish them out. Anyways one day he had a meeting with my mom and me to try and find a way for me to read more in hopes that it would get easier. So we went down a list of things I love. The next week Mr. Kooglen came to me with this "E Fed wrestling thing" WECWF was the feds name, and you cut promos via email. I instantly fell in love with it. My first character was named Shane Saturn a wanna be HBK. HAHA! But man it did keep me reading and writing and enjoying it while I was doing it.

SO basically, I wanna know,
1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
and
2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
and
3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?

I thought this might be a fun thing for every one to travel down memory lane.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
My cousin (Bleak) introduced me to it many years ago. A mutual friend had created an e-fed called WrestleDome. The 3 of us all had positions of power on top of running competitive characters. I ended up leaving the place, but I don't think it was long before it ended up shutting down.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
The very first character I had was named Rebel. He was a masked wrestler along the lines of The Patriot, but he wore all blue (even back then my characters had the "blue" thing going just like Alexander, lol) and he was a combination of Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle in terms of his in-ring style. As for his gimmick...man, I can't even remember what it was, if he even had one. He may not have.

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?
At that time? I didn't actually stick around in the fed long enough to have a storyline. At least not one at length. I really just had one-off matches. One of those matches ended up being a title match, which I won (though I absolutely did not deserve it because my writing skills were atrocious at best) and then within a couple of weeks I lost the title and then the fed shut down soon after.

EDIT: I know Bleak can attest to all of this and correct me on things I may have gotten wrong. It was so long ago.

I found out about the efedding world though the book The Death of WCW. One of the writers runs the Wrestlecrap website, which I decided to check out in a whim. Looking through I noticed they had their own efed, the Extreme Wrestlecrap Threaderation. I checked it out, and on a whim I decided to go for it. The rest, as they say, is history.

My first charcter was a shameless ripoff called EN Bunk, quickly followed by Bolt Bacana as the Third Street Warriors. I'd like to point out I had just discovered ROH at the time and I was 12, which led to these two. Eventually they would develop into their own consistent characters, with EN Bunk becoming Chad Michaels and Bolt Bacana becoming the FIW Head I Talent Relations himself, Michael Hayden. (Also, Hayden will absolutely not mention this should it be brought up on Twitter.)

My favorite all time storyline would be the romance of Seto Uchiha and Suri Koiwa, since I had no real idea to it would end when it started. Heck, I was still super new at the time, so I didn't expect much. I'll look back from time to time, and my big regret is not doing more during the courtship and even during the early stage of the relationship. There could've been a promo between the two at least every other week, but there where times when I would slack on my end. Bleh.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
Through accident while absentmindedly trawling the internet when I should have been revising in a college library in 2001. I joined Ash Koopa's NWWA fed (yes, before he got rid of the A) along with my brother. Craig and Wes Thompson as the Thompson Brothers. Very creative.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
Craig Thompson. I haven't decided yet whether he is actually Charlie Tango yet but probably was. I can't remember any details of the NWWA Craig Thompson, except he wasn't very good. I tried to do something shocking and when Ash split into two brands, I had Craig turn heel on his teammates in the SiN main event.

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?
Dark Angel (Dimmu Borgir) vs. Jack Manson (Sr.) Best of 5 Series here in FIW over the Chaos Championship. 2002? Probably. Great fun.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
I was in middle school (around the age of 13? for you non-Americans) when I started writing my own wrestling stories for my friends based on our CAWs and other original wrestlers we'd made up. I was somewhat inspired by similar suggestions in the back of the WWF Warzone strategy guide for holding local tourneys and stuff. I don't remember exactly what I searched (in Lycos! Throwback!) but the internet was still new for me and I was curious to try this out with other people across the web. Back then it was an e-mail-based interaction instead of forum-based, and between that and the fact that I didn't have internet access but every other weekend I never really got anywhere.

ENTER CEILICAN'S CAW COLLEGE. Which was a CAW site where FIW used to be hosted way back in the day. I believe by the time I tried to get involved they'd already moved to their own forum, though the fed had only been open for a few months. I wanna say Lita and I joined around the same time, or Lita was a week or two before me or something. It wasn't long after... Fireball? Maybe?

Concurrently I tried to start up my own fed called MAW (I don't remember what it stood for because Loon called it Mostly Annoying Wrestling and that was funnier, so it sticks out in my memory), but that didn't really get off the ground, so instead I waited and watched FIW for a while before opening the original NGIW.

The rest is history.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
That question has multiple answers depending on what you mean...

1. The first fictional wrestler I ever made was a CAW named Daddy Fatty Acid, who was a big fat black guy in green luchador gear who did moonsaults because I thought that was hilarious at the ripe age of 13. He later became a variety of characters in various e-fed-ish situations. His archive bio is here.

2. The first wrestler I submitted to an e-fed for use was Big Daddy Love... who was like HBK if HBK was fat and wore green body paint. Don't ask. He was an alternate persona of another wrestler I made on consoles, Brightstone, who later became R.T. Cutting who some of you might know. I don't have a bio done for him in my archive yet.

3. The first wrestler I actually roleplayed was Tier.

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?
HooLu.

I discovered it back when I was joining MSN groups to find stuff to do since I grew up in a small town. It was 96/97 can't recall for sure. But I remember roleplaying as Madusa, Trinity, and Miss Kitty a lot. I think even Midajah a few times. Been doing it on/off since. Barely started doing my caw Jade in 2012. I tried doing a few others since but none have really hit off like Jade did. Fun fact: Jade's first concept was Chinese and her first picbase was Hyuna.

My first go at an E Fed was a Yahoo Groups e-mail...group. It was for GI Joe where you got to create your own or use an already created character. I chose Roadblock, although I didn't keep to his rhymes. Too hard and I was too young. Still, it was fun. It kinda went off and on for a while and each time it came back on it would shorten in how long it stayed active. Eventually, things just stopped altogether. Oh well...

As for wrestling feds, the first one I joined was in 1999 and...I don't even know what it was. It was a wrestling fed but I didn't know how it was run. If there were forums or even where the card was. My interest in wrestling was growing around the time and, really, I can't recall how I thought about checking for feds. Not like the WWF at the time was advertising them.

Anyway, I joined in with my first wrestling character, Ultra Guy, who was a collaborative character between myself and my brother based around a Morph toy with a Cyclops head. But, in this iteration, he was repped by Ultimate Warrior because...reasons. I sent in a promo through e-mail about requesting a match as worded by UG's manager, Maple. I don't know if he got the match, I don't know if he was even put on the card, I don't even know if his app was accepted. So it was a couple years before I tried again somewhere else.

Favorite storyline...unfortunately I can't say. :)

So I feel I need to preface this by saying I've been role playing online since about 2003, just not e-feds. I started on a Firefly site and then played mostly on Heroes, Hunger games (more recently), super hero sites, and on a Sailor Moon board for a while despite having never watched Sailor Moon. The community was great, and I had friends from other sites there. It was fun.

Wight's wife and I met years ago. I played D&D with them, and Wight mentioned e-fedding. We talked. I'd never watched wrestling, so I didn't bother with it. Two years passed and I ended up moving in with them. Wight and Co. Introduced me to wrestling with Summer Slam this past summer, and I hadn't done a good play by post site in a minure. I'd met a few board members of FIWII elsewhere on the Web, but I wasn't sure about the competitive aspect.

When Wight opened NeonGIW as a storyline fed, I decided to join. My first character was Freakshow, built out of AJ Styles and his wasted charisma crossed with about 80 other half references and based on the appearance of a character from an early 2000s collectible card game called Ophidian 2350. The name was a dead rip off.

And then Freakshow started to evolve. Now I'm here. Not sure what my favorite storyline is thus far, buthe im having a blast with most of it.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?

Ceilican's CAW College back in the Smackdown vs RAW video game days. Found FIW on there and the rest is history.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?

Jack Manson

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?

All time favorite feud was my first real one and it was Jack Manson vs Dark Angel in a best of series. So many great back and forth RP's between myself and Craig. What I wouldn't do to be younger and as devoted as I used to be.

1. Hayden will back me up on this: I joined the same board he did in 2010 and at the time they had a WWE-based fed (since forcibly shut down by the mods. Don't ask). I didn't join an OC fed until a year later (World WrestleCrap Federation, later Freakin' Awesome Wrestling Alliance).

2. Gus Richlen. Shaelin was created two weeks later.

3. None yet, really.

1. i discovered efeds by a friend who introduced me to Asylum Wrestling Association (the AWA in kiras twitter handle) that was october of 2015. i'd played a text based efed like wrestling game called masters of the mat. i've been playing that sence march of 2013.

2.my first characters in motm were the reaper and kentucky warrior. the reaper was a grim reaper and kentucky warrior was the ultimate warrior. my first character in awa was kira izumi with kirito a few months after. he was kaneki ken at first and than kyo and it was back and forth with them throughout the past 2 years now.

3.fav rivalry would have to be my one with zero tolerance they really helped me allot and with out them id be shit still, well shittier than i am.lol they really helped me get my fist strap the awa us title which i held for two or three months before loosing it. the next month the place closed and i ended up here. also i allways wanted to beat a guy named jack danials. we had done good work and i liked my feud with nick riot here, he helped me get a big break here.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
I was actually a CAW maker at Ceilican's CAW College when FIW started up. I had been watching wrestling or about a year at best, but I was hardcore into it. Like, wrestling literally consumed my life back in the 2000-2003 time period. The fed caught my interest and after mulling it over for a bit, I joined.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
Kennedy. At one point she was my longest-running character ever. I'm not sure if that's still applicable. I had a couple other characters for what felt like ever. Kim may actually be the longest reigning now. She was actually my second character ever created, ironically enough. She was actually the First Lady of NGIW, I believe. Before they were Hellcats and before they were Sirens.

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?
HooLu. I've had a TON of great stories that I've been a part of. I've had fun in SO MANY great stories. But I gotta tell you that HooLu wasn't a story. It was an EPIC. I don't think I'll ever catch that lightning in a bottle ever again. Subtle start, graceful progression, peaks and valleys, and an actual conclusion. It was incredible. I miss it terribly but it is a book best left written, not sequeled.

I wish I had the patience for CAWs these days. I just don't. Plus I don't love wrestling as much as I used to. So the games always get me pumped, I buy them, and then barely play them. :\

Had never heard of "e-fedding" until I started going to Ceilicans CAW College and saw FIW running. Was a lurker for the longest time until the original Rising started. Joined up as Rob Storm, met Sam and Steve, got hooked and here I am.

That used to be me even when I was hardcore into wrestling. Lol. For some reason, I never got into the CAW modes until I came to FIW and saw all the discussions on CAWs early on. I haven't played any of the games since SDvR '07, I think.

I SHOULD get 2K17 for my PS3 but too busy with other shit. That and trying to do any RTE crap is grating on my sanity. Which is mostly why I stopped playing wrestling games.

Then again, I DO want to download a bunch of Mortal Kombat CAWs again....

Maybe this is a lame question, forgive me, but what is Ceilicans CAW College? Thats pretty cool some of you have known each other for a long time. Come to think of it I guess I'v know the NWW guys that long lol! I was a hell raiser to say the least back then. Lol! Not any more.

If I remember right, since I came in at the end of that storyline, that was actually in Neon Gothic Industrial Wrestling. Unless some of it was here too and I missed it.

NGIW... as in Neo-Gothic Industrial Wrestling, not my current fed with the same initials... was indeed the home of HooLu. I don't have exact dates or anything but you should be able to plumb the archives. It was a story of love, heroes, villains, alter-egos, overcoming your fears and becoming the victim of them.

Ceilican's CAW College was run by a chap of questionable repute named Ceilican. The color scheme was orange and black, and the logo bore a cat. We talked about wrestling and posted characters created in the WWE games there, sometimes fulfilling requests made by others. This was back when you had to type that stuff out long-form, before sharing them over the internet was a thing. I wanna say I got there from the SmackDown Hotel CAW website? Seeing the creator of some decent CAWs, Ceilican, and clicking the link to his site?

Eventually people got tired of his shit, or he shut down the site, or something... and a bunch of us split off to found The People's CAW College, also known as TPCC, also known as The Place Cocksuckers Congregate after a number of the people in charge there started being less-than-pleasant as well.

FIW existed at the bottom of the Ceilican page for a spell before they just got their own forum.

I've known some of your weirdos for over 15 years.

Nutty.

I posted this late last year in another thread where we all re-lived our favorite e-fedding romance angles. It's basically a cliff notes version of the BIG moments in the HooLu story. It glosses over the adorable courting phase and some really good character building stuff in favor of the more wrestling-heavy elements of their story. If you've got the time to dig through NGIW's archives, I recommend finding the beginning and reading them in their entirety. And I never recommend people waste their time reading anything I write. This is the exception.

Quote:

Lucas Torres and Horus "The Owl" Osbourne is my all-time favorite for a particular reason.  I really enjoyed how Wight and I crafted these separate characters that are openly homosexual, but they were GOOD people.  They were likeable people.  They were comfortable in their own skin (in their own quirky ways!).  And they were ACCEPTED by their peers.  Nobody resorted to gay jokes about them.  They just enjoyed their story.  They had a modicum of in-ring stories surrounding their relationship.  In comparison to other relationships, it was definitely small scale. (EDIT: after writing this I realize they had more than a modicum of in-ring stories, they had an EPIC!)

I loved how we did the Zero Rush angle with Horus' mind breaking because he couldn't rid NGIW of its villains.  Lucas was becoming more violent in the ring around this time and he was getting "wooed" (so to speak) by the alluringly dishonest ways of Zero Rush. When he found out he was falling for his own boyfriend in a mask, he was super tempted to let Horus slip deeper into that black abyss that suited his own desires; but love conquered all and Lucas knew that wasn't the man he really loved.

Then we flipped it!  Lucas (and I) went through a dark period after losing the NGIW Championship (honestly, that belt meant so much to so many handlers that EVERYONE rage quit when they lost it).  He put his career on the line for a rematch and when he lost and left NGIW he came back under a mask as Astro Blue. Now, Lucas under the mask was the best-kept secret since Mr. America and Horus "The Owl" Osbourne happened to be the general manager of NGIW at this time. Astro had no qualms about seducing the good GM to get what he wanted and poor Horus couldn't say no to the Lu to his Hoo (they were affectionately referred to as HooLu). This ended up becoming too much for Horus, with Astro actually becoming borderline verbally abusive to Horus. And after numerous times of finding Lucas a crying mess in their bedroom, begging Horus to get rid of the mask only for him to get his hands on another, Horus finally challenged Lucas to what would be their final match in NGIW. Horus "The Owl" Osbourne vs. Astro Blue.  If Astro wins, Horus would become Zero Rush and let him continue his villainous lifestyle with them side by side. If Horus wins, Lucas returns to him forever.  Well, Horus won because LOVE CONQUERS ALL! It isn't cheesy.  It's awesome!  And that's what these two were.

EDIT: I know Bleak can attest to all of this and correct me on things I may have gotten wrong. It was so long ago.

Psssh. I can barely remember the awfulness that was WDome. Lol.

I know I'm super late to the party and am probably ruing the thread after that cool description of what was HooLu. Also, Eversol's match and interactions with Astro Blue is one of my favorite moments from that iteration of NGIW.

1. How did you discover the E Fed world?
If I remember correctly, I heard about it by spending tons of time in wrestling chat rooms during that time. Wrestling was super popular and everyone would advertise their RP feds and I got curious and joined an e-mail one at the time. This had to be 99' or so. Then my friend and I decided to make WDome and had a ton of fun. I think it closed only because we started school and didn't have as much time for it after summer ended.

2. Who was your first wrestler you made?
I talked to Nate about this today and remember 3 different characters but for the life of me cannot remember which was the first one. There was Nemesis (not the cool ass character that Sid), Ruff Ryder (*facepalm*) and then Steve Hardy (I had a thing for using my own damn name lol)

"Ruff Ryder was just some thugged out dude who was just angry at the world. Nemesis was a dark motherfucker who was evil as shit. Lol."

Nate remembers better than I do.

If I remember correctly, the Steve Hardy character was some skater, baby-face. Weird.

3. What was your all time favorite Match/feud or Story line?
That's incredibly hard to narrow-down since I've been involved in FIW off and on since about 2004 or so. There's been so many good feuds that I'm probably not even remembering. Feuding with Elrick and Toan back in the Slam! days ranks up there. Those were some of the bloodiest and most violent things I'd written when I wrote some of those matches. They were absolute blood wars.

I also like what I currently have going a ton. Believe it or not, it's the first romantic angle I've ever run so just being able to do something different with Brittany and Eversol has been really awesome. Not to mention Eversol just being a complete asshole that's somehow managed to win as much as he has as of late. It's hard not to label the current feuds and stories as my favorite.

This is true. hide Kitazawa enjoyed some high quality mind-losing EVERY TIME he lost that belt, and it only got worse when the belt became a throne.

My favourite stories are in the category of oddball teams with Wight and Lita, going back to Sakura's weird feud with the Daito Rangers and the original Havok picking up a drunk Jenny Chennault to be his mystery partner in the middle of his cold war with then-boss Daisuke Tanaka.

I think the Red Crown of Rage was the only title I competed for outside the Flycore in NGIW, and that was just once.
