Does any one here play D&D? Just wondering.

My brother and brother in law and a friend are really into those types of games. So about a year and a half ago I started to play so I could actually spend time with my brothers. Because I didnt get to a lot. We lived 2 very different lives, but were all still close. I gotta say I really like it now. It made me and my brother in law really close. Lol! We drink when we play the game so its lways fun. I have a character based of Dean Ambrose who goes by Slash but his real name is "Jim Hellwig" Lol I'm sure some of you know who that is.

This past weekend we some how made it out of the Tomb of Horrors successfully to might add. We play once a month in that campaign. But anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else here plays that game or games like it.

I've never played it or anything but my dad used to long before i was a thought. It seems kinda cool but also very long and frustrating too.I dont think i'd have the patience for it honestly. I did see a movie about it that said it was created by the devil and that rpgs are evil and stuff though.I t was a funny movie and messed up too.The main charecters get into D&D and start to get bad grades and what not.One of the main characters characters in the D&D game dies and so she does the most unreasonable thing any one with sense would do and kills her self afterwards. The other MC eventually stops RPGs and gets back on the 'right path' and goes to church and school and stuff again. The movie was really awful but man do i love how stupid and how far people can take things.(no offense to those who do take those subjects that far,it's just silly.)

Anyways.D&D looks kinda cool but it just looks like it takes longer than monopoly and black jack combined.Which i can not do at all.On the other hand though,I love Magic the Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh my self.

Every Friday night and sometimes on Saturday too. I actually started playing the Star Wars RPG when I was about 12, transitioned into Vampire: the Masquerade, and then finally into 3rd edition D&D by the time I got to high school. I've been playing as often as I can since. Full on legit, D&D saved my life. A bunch of junior high and high school friends shunned me for playing it because I was too nerdy, and almost all of them have suffered major drug and alcohol problems, which I would have fallen into had I not spent my weekend in someone's basement or the back room of a comic shop.

It helped me find friends in college, find friends at work, reconnect with old friends, and is the reason I'm on FIWII in the first place. If Wighty's wife hadn't talked to me at work and had I not started playing with them, I wouldn't be friends with them and thus would have never heard of e-fedding, started watching wrestling, and would probably still be playing on Hunger games play by post boards.

As it stands I run a game of 5th edition D&D every other Friday at a local game store, and on the alternate Fridays, I play in a game out there with Wight. On Saturday evenings, either Wight or our other roommate run a game for the four folks I'm our house.

For a while I had a group that would play once a week. My favorite moment had to be rolling a 20 on an intimidation check and having a boulder roll the other way.

It's really interesting what you can do in the game. Somehow I controlled unicorns.

I currently play in a biweekly Pathfinder game and a biweekly 5E game at the local game store. I have played since elves and dwarves were classes. First long-term campaign was when 3E first came out. I like to tell a couple of my fellow players that i have a twenty sider older than them.

Yeah, the guy who calls himself Knight is into D&D. Shocking, I know.

The movie was satire based on a very real, very non-satirical religious tract by notoriously intolerant (and recently deceased) cartoonist Jack Chick. He made all these tiny evangelical comics that were usually absolutely ridiculous and tried to spread the faith through either promising an instant solution to all problems or excessive fear mongering. I collect them. I find them hilarious. The tract in question is called Dark Dungeons (so is the movie) and came out in the early 80's during the height of parental panic over a game that supposedly encouraged witchcraft and was a gateway into the occult and Satan worship.

You can read the original tract here.

You can buy the movie here, and it's like five bucks so... do it. It's a fun little flick and made by a bunch of indie filmmakers. Support your local artists. *cough* [size0]myPatreonisinmysignature*cough* They went a long way to act like they were doing the movie legit so as to get Jack Chick to sign off on use of his intellectual property, but if you know RPG jokes and tropes and are familiar with other famous stuff like Order of the Stick and such it's violently clear this movie was satire made by cool people who wanted to update/preserve an important part of gamer history.

As David said, I usually play once a week. I'd like to play more but I'm having some problems finding my place in gaming right now. Transitional period, if you will.

Back in the day at Catholic school buddies of mine used to play AD&D at recess. The school was actually pretty awesome about Dungeons and Dragons and never made a stink about it. I could never really get into it because frankly the rules were over my head. About 1984 the first Marvel Super Heroes game came out and it had something affectionately called the "FACERIP" system. It only took two dice and I played that for a LONG time. When Wizards of The Coast came out with the 3rd edition of D&D THAT is when I started playing the heck out of it. That's still my favorite version although I haven't played it in forever.

Glad you and yours are enjoying the game. Cool that an idea that came out in the 70's and has undergone so many changes is still bringing people together.

I am not gonna lie. The rules are insanely confusing for me. Lol! But My older brother, brohther in law and friend help guide me along the way. I am actually really good at creating an off the wall plan and tactical stuff and planning attacks. So they really don't mind helping me along the way. Because I come up with some really off the wall plans thats gotten us places in the game. Lol!

I guess we're going to start doing 1 shot games where each of them choose a game and DM it 1 time for the rest of us and we're going to make a podcast out of each game. So people can tune in and hear how the game is played and see if they like it. Its pretty funny, we make a lot of jokes and there is a lot of smoking and drinking. Manskie my brother in law is going to do Call of Cathulu for us. We're gonna do a Dark Sun game. They are making me DM a Biker one that should be really funny.

We did a Christmas episode for Gamo Rama based during Christmas in the 80's it was so funny! We did the Lord Of The Rings one but my brother in law deleted it on accident, Lol!

So I got a question fr you that play games like this.

1. What games should we try out.

and

2. What pro wrestler should I base my next character off of?

That was the craziest thing is that there was so much sensationalism about it, but like... regular-ass reasonable people didn't ever seem to have a problem with it. I have friends whose parents wouldn't let them play because it was evil, and then plenty of friends who had SUPER religious families who were completely cool with it. People are weird.

1. This is where I'd plug Colt Regan : The RPG but it's not done yet. I'll be sure to let you know when I finish the core book.

2. Brock Lesnar the Barbarian.

WhatCulture is great.

As far as D&D goes, I know my dad played it way back in the day. He was a really good artist, so his character sheets (or whatever they might be called) looked super cool. I always wanted to play, almost got the chance but my friend who was running the whole thing moved a bit further away unfortunately.

Adam Blampied. He does much of the stuff at WhatCulture Wrestling, and is active in their actual for reals wrestling federation WCPW which I've mentioned on here once or twice before. Good stuff.

That's tragic, but I saw it in my head as your friend DMing and you went to sit down but he moved... like... the whole table just an inch away, and you got all frowny and just left in defeat.

I say this, but I have no clue what you look like so I guess I saw Chris Pratt in a suit doing those things. Maybe that made it funnier. I don't know.

Yeah dude, definitely let me know when you get that done. I'll put it on our list of one shots to play and promote. As soon as my older brother gets the one shot podcast officially set up I'll let you guys know where to find it. And I will for sure be basing my next character of Brock the Barbarian! LOL! That was awesome!

Also, I've been trying to watch new wrestling shows. I am sure people will think I am retarded for saying this, but so far ROH has not done anything for me. I am liking wcpw so far. When they upload it on WatchWrestling.IN I'll watch it while on the treadmill. It does its job of making me forget what I'm doing. I like it. This will sound even more retarded lol BUt I started watching the rebooted IMpact Wrestling. Seph was making fun of me for watching it when I made the mistake of asking him to watch it with me. Lol! BUT with Dutch Mantel and Prichard booking the show, I do like it. Alls I gotta say is, I like it and watch it knowing its not worse then RAW right now. Lol!

But yeah back to the point, I like Adam Blampia's (The english guy in the Brock vid) ideas. I hope its transitions over to WCPW. I know he tries to book things better then WWE has in the past and for the most part it sounds great, but who knows if it couldve happened in real life successfully.

Sorry for the rant. Lol!
