Triple H just announced on Twitter that 32 women from 17 countries will compete in a tournament this summer on the WWE Network.

I was terrified that this was an April Fool's prank, but Stephanie McMahon actually did a press conference for this alongside Bayley, Alexa Bliss, and Asuka to announce it. Looks like the girls from TV will be included in the tournament.

I'm kind of excited for this. But worried it'll just be something for Charlotte, Sasha, or Bayley to win. And they don't need it.

i heard roomers that Io Shirai is jumping to WWE and if that's true i hope she's going to be in this tournament than.Seeing her vs Asuka could be something.I hope we can see Kimber Lee actually on wwe tv again and have her in it too. This should be something really cool if done right.I just cant wait to hear the actual names being in this thing now and i really hope they do something with these women and this tournament other than screwing over half of the people they sign afterwards and turn them into house show only guys.

Just a quick follow-up.

This image is from the press conference. Interesting to note the graphic in the background. It looks like ALL women from TV will be included. I'm most surprised to see Maryse and Lana on there. I wonder if this Sunday is transitioning Maryse back into the ring. Which would be fantastic for me.

I see Bayley, Naomi, Alexa, Sasha, Charlotte, Becky, Nikki, Alicia, Lana, Asuka, Carmella, Natalya, Dana, Mickie, Maryse, and Summer. There are three girls I can't make out between Summer and Maryse (which may be Emma), Dana and Natalya (which is probably Nia), and Natalya and Carmella (haven't a clue).

Anyway, that's 19 of the 32 women.

I would assume Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, Aliyah, Ruby Riot, Liv Morgan, and Mandy Rose will be included as well.

That takes the number up to 27 and leaves just 5 unknown women to take part in this.

However, I have read rumors for weeks that Kelly Kelly is set to return in the gimmick Emma failed to impress backstage officials with for Emmalina.

Kimber Lee was signed along with Heidi Lovelace (who they renamed to Ruby Riot). There's also another girl named Marykate Glidewell (who performed as Rosie Lottalove in TNA) and one named Julia Ho. Those three will likely be included as well.

The rumors I'm hearing is that WWE is only using talent that have signed contracts as they don't want a repeat of what happened with Kota Ibushi. They thought they had him locked down but he just used the CWC for some global exposure and then walked.

Hey! Kelly Kelly coming back would be pretty sweet. They did say 17 countries so with whom we can assume right now we only have america, canada, australia and japan which leaves allot of room still. They'd have at least 13 other women that are unknown than. well adding nikki cross that'd be scottland and leave 12 other women at least so thats still not terrible but it could be much better

Oh great, something for Charlotte or Nia to win so that I hate the division even more than I already do.

I heard they possibly signed Shirai to deal but than again who knows right? It still would be cool to see Lovelace and Lee though.

I saw a brief mention of this on the WWE Facebook page. I noticed that background image, too, when I went to read the article on WWE.com afterward. I think it could be really cool depending on how they go about it. I could see this being like the CWC where they have a majority of the tournament being unknowns. My first thought was that that background image was just a visual representation of the women's division they have now, not necessarily showing who would be in the tournament. If they have a majority of it being unknown wrestlers, that would be really cool. It could be a good way to grow the division all around: RAW, SD, and NXT.

When I saw the title I thought it was about the NCAA Women's Tournament going on. The UConn ladies 111-game win streak ended against Mississippi State last night in their Final Four. I was like, "Oh cool! Lita watches that!" :P

So, in a tournament like this, do you all think it will be won by a newcomer who could get a big push from this? Or do you think it will be someone already established? Just curious because that's a LOT of folks! 8O

I guess it still remains to be seen whether or not all the current TV talent will be competing in the tournament. I have a hard time seeing them let many people knock Charlotte or Sasha Banks out of this tournament. The ones that could, are ones I don't see also getting knocked out by newcomers (aka Nikki Bella).

In fact, there's been no announcement that the girls on TV will be a part of it. So, perhaps I jumped to conclusions on that. I have a hard time seeing WWE sign 32 new girls but I guess anything is possible.
