At one point I'd had an idea (that I abandoned not long after coming up with it) to have a babyface character repped by Ryan Reynolds. Maybe that could work for you?

I'll add him to the list, thank you. Although, wasn't someone using him recently?

I didn't mean Hugh Jackman. I was aware of the rep. I meant the artistic rendering of Old Man Logan from the comic books. Then you have a rep based off artwork that is unique and original.

As long as he's not in green...

Or animated.

One idea I am working on uses Drago. Just need to work on some details. Back to the topic, I am terrible at this. The bulk of my TV watching doesn't produce many reps. Unless Food Network or daytime court shows give you ideas.

Akira Tozawa, Bobby Roode, Gallows, Gran Metalik, Linke Dorado, and Rusev. Was trying to think of some guys with decent looks that aren't necessary spooky, scary.

Not that I can remember. I'm not too sure, though.

A couple other reps that just came to mind, though: Sam Witwer, Sam Huntington, David Anders, Robert Buckley.

As far as wrestlers: Maybe Rey Mysterio? I think Eddie Guererro, JTG, Billy Kidman, Scotty Riggs from his American Males days, mid-90s Kurt Angle, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas, Chavo Guerrero...I could go on and on. Lol.

Someone I've been wanting to use for a while, but I don't have the time for another character, is David Starr. The wrestler. Not the racer or musician. I'd even share my gimmick idea I was gonna use for him, but I don't know if it's very useable... or anything that you are looking to play.

I didn't mean Hugh Jackman. I was aware of the rep. I meant the artistic rendering of Old Man Logan from the comic books. Then you have a rep based off artwork that is unique and original.

While not a bad idea because you're right; it's a very unique look, it sort of screws with the unified theme of the fed if one character is a cartoon for some reason. I could probably find some cosplayers, like with the anime guys... lemme check. Yeah, these are bad. For a built-in cosplay for older men to do, this is a lot of guys in their forties who paint their hair vanilla-frosting-white. That's a shame.

Although while searching I did stumble across a wicked Kroenen cosplay. So there's that.

Tozawa has a good damn look.

Bobby Roode... hard to separate from the gimmick or something like it. Was he Steve's last character, or was that Austin Aries? I guess I could use some old Beer Money stuff... which a beer cowboy, that could be neat. I tend to fuck up cowboys though... *cough*Cyrus Boone*cough*John Hicks*cough*

This is the only Luke Gallows I recognize.

Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado are awesome, don't know why I didn't think of them. If I go for a luchador, totally either one of those guys would be great.

I love handsome Rusev. I could probably run the Indie Rusev gimmick I thought of a few years ago since WWE have stuck with the Bulgarian Brute. Check social media for pics of him in more casual clothes or something...

I, too, enjoyed the American Being Human.

That said Sam Witwier has some potential. He's a poor man's David Boreanaz, after all.

I'm assuming you meant Sam Huntington from his Jungle 2 Jungle days, the only thing worth remembering him from. I think he might be a little young there.[/joke] He's the babyface-ist babyface tho. Great for a manager or staff or something. I dunno about a wrestler.

David Anders another fantastic rep for a non-wrestling character. Or if I went for business vampire.

Robert Buckley looks like someone was drawing RDJ based on someone else's description of him that wasn't very good, and the person drawing wasn't really paying attention.

Rey and Eddie are a little... I guess too iconic? I have a referee repped by Eddie (who I don't think is in my archive otherwise I'd link him) but that's less keeping me at bay and more that just... y'know, you see that guy you're gonna think Eddie Guererro. It's so inseparable. Chavo to a lesser extent.

JTG is a good call.

Billy Kidman is a good call if my gimmick is "90s Boy". Even his more recent shit he just looks like he took off his headphones from listening to Faith No More, removed his jean jacket, and got in the ring.

I ain't takin' Kurt Angle away from Drake Love. I know he's never coming back, but some things you just don't do. I wouldn't cry foul if someone else did it? But I wouldn't.

I deeply DEEPLY love the American Males and their incredible theme music but I don't think enough decent pics of Scotty exist from that era.

Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas have potential... is Owen McConnaigh still Charlie Haas? Or did Will move on to someone else?

David Starr is not at all what I expected. He's not even like... Predictably Sexy Man. He's very plain. I would love to hear your gimmick idea for him if you PM or text it to me. I doubt I could play it but I found his appearance so unexpected I'm just very curious.

Charlie Hunnam is a good look. Is someone else using his more clean-cut rep? I could've sworn I saw him somewhere in the last few years. I'd defo go for the Jax Teller look tho. Guy looks like a badass.

I got a few linked in a PM so if you see more in The List when I update it within the hour that's where they came from. Thanks, guys! you really gave me some food for thought.

I once started working on a guy repped by Alexander Skarsgard. But honestly, the entire cast of True Blood is ripe for picking. Well, most anyway.

He's not in my archive yet, but Ryan Kwanten is a rep for one of my dudes already.

ADDED TO THE LIST:

- Adrian Holmes
- Billy Idol
- Dominic Purcell (Bad Karma especially, OMG.)
- Eddie Spears
- Tadanobu Asano
- Reggie Watts
- Ranveer Singh
- Nicholas Cage (WHY HAS NOBODY USED HIM FOR ANYTHING!?)
- Michael Sheen (From Tron, specifically. Otherwise he looks like a slightly more or less successful clone of Andy Serkis.)
- Finn Wittrock

EDIT: True Blood makes me think Nelsan Ellis. Oh, damn.

So I'm trying to think of some unique guys, who stand out and you can maybe use their unique look to help inspire you to build something around them starting with that. So

Roddy Piper. He to probably has the 80's or 90's camera shit, but I'm sure you can find some good ones. He's got an original look. It would probably be pretty fun building around him

Or maybe Shane Douglas (He's one of my all time favorites. In ECW he was AWESOME!) Originally when I wanted to come back to FIW, I was going to create a wrestler around Shane but Ryan and Kyle kept telling me to bring back Rob. I did and just reinvented him. Gave him a new gimmick. Which I am glad I did. Because I am having so much fun this time around. Hey maybe bring back an old character with a new gimmick? Maybe one of your favorites??? Just a thought.

Rick Rude, but with his short hair in WCW. I couldn't stand that afro mullet growing up, probably why I became a barber, go figure. LOL!

British Bulldog. He doesn't have to be British either. He has a unique look, hes a big buff rugged yet good looking dude

Or the guy who plays Tuko in Breaking Bad! He has an intimidating presence about him

Paul Walker. He is a very good looking guy, I am not sure if any one has ever used him though or is right now. But if you can use him, you can create some kinda heart breaker or ladies man gimmick. Or he can even pass as a white meat baby face! Those blue eyes say white meat baby face all American boy.

Mark Vanderloo? (Dutch model; Bioware used him as the rep for male Cmdr. Shepard)

Always felt Luke Hawx had a cool look and was very intimidating.
Not so intimidating but still cool look would be an indy guy named Bu Ku Dao. Little tiny Vietnamese guy with boundless energy and charisma.

In music, you could consider Ralf Scheepers (Singer for Primal Fear, kind of older but supremely buff and has a cool look too) or Robb Flynn from Machine Head.

As far as other combat sports I had a couple ideas:

Gennady Golovkin or Deontay Wilder (Boxers, lots of pics of them in formal wear--I almost used GGG for a rep of mine)
Donald Cerrone, Cody Garbrandt, Daniel Cormier (MMA fighters)

Hell, even I used him once because of peer pressure.

So I probably should've mentioned last night that WOW you guys really came through on reps and I think I can sort something out of this mess. But you suggested more so I'll do the honors of going through them before I get to my actual list.

Roddy Piper, British Bulldog, and Rick Rude are all great reps. In fact, I'd tried to use Rick Rude, Marc Mero, Billy Gunn, and Brutus Beefcake (well, Booty Man) as inspiration for a character but while they might be good reps for a guy I came up with that seemed like a logical conclusion to use those guys as, trying to come up with a dude while looking at THOSE dudes just makes me think of THEIR gimmicks and that's not helpful. I don't really feel like ripping off anyone wholesale.

Shane Douglas is a great rep, you're right. I'm not really getting anything off of him? But that's an aces rep no matter what era you choose from.

Quote:

Hey maybe bring back an old character with a new gimmick? Maybe one of your favorites??? Just a thought.

That's a more complicated question than you realize. But I will explain because I know helping me ideate on things can be frustrating and I want to provide context. If anyone has any input on any of these, I'd love to hear it.

Tier/Scott Kaiser
I fucked this character up. I fucked him up real bad. He was my first and I made a bunch of stupid decisions, and I'm a big guy for continuity, y'know? So I can't just forget that or pretend it didn't happen. So he really can't logically make a return to wrestling full time. Select dates, sure. Maybe a single storyline. He's not even that old, just turned 40 last year. But the character just doesn't hold up to scrutiny anymore and has too much in his past to exploit to be considered viable. Besides, he's happy being a trainer.

Bill Kuriyama
His most notable gimmick was "The Rock with different catch phrases and a wrestling style that would get early 2000s smarks hard" and even back when I was playing him I had a hard time stretching that into something workable. He left wrestling to pursue an acting career, that failed, so he came back to the business to work behind the scenes. Brought him back in FIW as part of a tag team for a hot minute, but thought better of it. He's currently a ring announcer/behind the scenes guy for Neon Gen which is on a "broadcast hiatus" which is a fancy way of saying I shut the fed down but still pretend like it's running for continuity reasons.

Graver
This guy's story is just done. Happy ending and all. He's a trainer now. Like Tier he might come back for a brief run, a storyline, or maybe a manager, but otherwise I'm good.

Giggles
So, quite unlike Tier, Giggles is panicking over turning 40 last year. He's an alleged serial murderer who's all but come out and said he did it. He's kind of an awful person with a LOT of issues and he can be hard to work with backstage if he's not in a good mood. Currently he's teaming with his best friend Spade in the fake wrestling federation Boy and I use as an analogue for stuff that happens on our 2K games (which we needed to develop a thing for because a lot of friendships and rivalries formed for e-fed wrestlers in those games and we needed to explain why they happened) but he's a career garbage wrestler. 40 is about the point where hanging up the boots is a better idea than looking like shit in the ring... except that because of who he is, he doesn't really have any career options outside of wrestling, and because he spends most of his paychecks sending money to his illegitimate daughter, he doesn't exactly have a nest egg to retire early on. Further, he hates people... especially young people. Would NOT make a good trainer or manager. And he knows this about himself. So there's this little bit of panic like... "what do I do now?" He would rather wrestle forever, but he doesn't wanna look like a joke in the ring and he knows that time is coming sooner than later. I had considered bringing him back to FIW for "one more run" at the title, but I'm not sure that would really solve his problems. I had another gimmick that got waylaid by some unexpected complications and the more I distance myself from it the more I wonder if that would've even been a good idea for him.

Bisenshi Ultra/King Kai
I'm... not really sure what I'd do with him. He's a little two-dimensional at present, just kind of like a Shinsuke Nakamura expy. Although to be fair I had the gimmick first...

Zombie Black
Actively trying to avoid playing him for the time being, for personal reasons.

Anyone else... well, didn't have enough of a gimmick to be playable long-term. They qualify for that "unplayable" thread, or I've done the most I can with them for the time being without repackaging them... and I have no idea what to repackage them into. Plus, a lot of my older guys are... well... old now. I half considered a retirement run for R.T. Cutting, but the guy is pushing 70. Better to leave him as a trainer.

I've never seen the actor who plays Tuco in anything, so he just looks like a plain dude to me.

Anything I did with Paul Walker wouldn't be flattering to Paul Walker, and as my wife LOVES the Fast and Furious series I don't really want to tarnish his memory like that.

Mark Vanderloo might've gone on the list; I like his Val Kilmer-esque look. But I don't really have a lot of ideas for him. Thankfully I don't connect him to Shepard since I played the superior Fem!Shep, so that's not the problem.

Luke Hawx looks OK. I don't like his hat.

Bu Ku Dao is awesome. Putting him on the list.

Ralf Scheepers I wouldn't use for anything that I couldn't use Jax for, and I prefer Charlie Hunnam's look. Robb Flynn is great though.

Gennady Golovkin, Donald Cerrone, and Daniel Cormier don't quite have a look I like. I don't really have any way to say it better than that. I thought Cody Garbrandt was a good rep, but the more I looked at him the less I had ideas for him and the less I liked his look.

Deontay Wilder is too, I even have a specific idea for him.

SO! Onto the list. I'm shredding it down to workable concepts, but I wanna let you guys know WHY I don't wanna use whatever rep you suggested. Because you guys have been so helpful; I owe you that much at least.

The Punisher's actors aren't... perfect. Jay Bernthal gets close? Thomas Jane is close from a different direction. Neither of them really hit it.

Danzig is a great rep, but I can't think of what I'd do with him that isn't super-close to Jericho Cruz's last gimmick, which I retired for a reason.

Angelico has a couple awesome looks, but I can't find enough pics of the ones I like to justify using the rep.

Ryan Reynolds just isn't giving me anything. I love him as an actor, loved him since Two Guys, A Girl, and A Pizza Place. But he's just not giving me anything as a wrestler.

Akira Tozawa has a FUCKING PHENOMENAL LOOK but I'm not sure what I'd do with him that isn't "Rebel, but a guy."

Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado aren't giving me much. I feel like I've played a lot of luchadors, but... I really haven't? Lince is giving me more than Metalik because... y'know, cat-themed wrestler. But I dunno. Feels kinda 2-D. Not sure what else to do.

Looked through his Twitter. Dude just wears regular clothes or proper suits when he's not wrestling. So my Indie Rusev gimmick is a no-go. Had one that was a more like a wrestling version of The Incredible Hulk. Sort of a comedy gimmick where he thinks about crushing people and such. Kinda lame tho.

Sam Witwer and David Anders are both best for very modern vampires, I think, and if we recall I don't really wanna play a vampire ATM.

Shelton Benjamin just isn't giving me much.

Neither is Adrian Holmes.

Dominic Purcell is great, especially from Bad Karma, but I'm not getting a lot of wrestling ideas from him.

Eddie Spears looks good, and I think I'll use him for one of my archived characters.

Tadanobu Asano has a few PHENOMENAL looks to choose from, but none of them are screaing "wrestler" at me.

I think Reggie Watts is a good rep for a guy in my archive. Better than Xavier Woods, anyhow.

Nobody has used Nicholas Cage for a rep because he's Nicholas Cage. Same reason I don't wanna use John Cena.

Michael Sheen in Tron is a great look, but I'd have a hard time divorcing him from that specific character, and that cane. That's a total package, right there.

I love Finn Wittrock, but I'm not getting "wrestler" from him.

I'm trying really hard to think of a character for Sami Zayn because, fuck, if WWE won't give him a shake I'd love to. But I'm not getting a lot of ideas from him besides... Ska-Man (very flimsy) or maybe an Irish guy, but I think a lot of character comes across in his accent and that's not as easy to write as other accents.

JTG and Charlie Hunnam... I can think of gimmicks but they're very thin. They'd need immediate storylines to carry them and that just sounds like another post-Satan Jericho Cruz waiting to happen. I've had enough difficulties with that shit already.

SO! That narrows it down to five. Here are my bare bones ideas...

Posted Image
Son of retired boxer P.J. Armstrong looking to make a splash in the wrestling business. Enthusiastic, cocky, and talented.

Posted Image
What if Graver was a face? Heavy metal party guy. Something between Graver and the dude I had posted as a potential app a while back.

Posted Image
Peaked in the pro gaming circuit at age 17 (as often ACTUALLY happens), and retired to take on the wrestling world. Makes a lot of references to pro gaming stuff.

Posted Image
Somewhere between Indian HBK and Indian Gaston.

Posted Image
Punk rock granddad. Not sure if I should do this since... as I mentioned above, Giggles and R.T. Cutting might deserve a retirement run more. But I think it has some spark.

any thoughts on anything I just said, y'all? I'd be happy to hear them.

Well, Rob Garcia was in a thug type gimmick that was stupid as fuck! My promos were weak as shit, I never won a title. He was basically the mexican New Jack. I thought he was done for good. I had planned on coming in with this other guy who was going to, get this "Blur the lines of reality!!!" LOL! Glad I didn't go for that as Kyle and Seph convinced me to bring back Rob. SO I thought about it and started to build on the hipster thing and then filled him in with my sense of humor. Two completely different careers. And I am having a lot of fun with this one. There is onlu one thing is missing but will get to that way later.

Maybe some one (More recent) can go away and come back as a corporate man or a deranged psycho. Or coming back for revenge and fill him in with your own traits.

any thoughts on anything I just said, y'all? I'd be happy to hear them.

My opinion counts for nothing but the two I've kept quoted are the ones I like. The others still have plenty of potential though.

A bit late to make suggestions, and they aren't really great ones. But perhaps Cody Rhodes? Pretty sure you were using Stardust at one point... But I'm talking normal Cody. I've wanted to use him as a rep for the longest time but I have no idea what I'd do with him.

Big E and Kofi are other guys I've wanted to use but again no ideas come to mind. Travis Barker? Pete Wentz? I'm pretty bad at gimmicks. And refs. And most things.

I haven't forgotten about this, for the record, but none of these are exactly... singing to me. I don't want to make a mistake I'll have to fix a month or so down the line, so I'm just giving it extra thought.

Thank you all so much for your assistance on this matter. So many of you came out to help me and that means the world.

Matt Riddle
Punishment Martinez
Dalton Castle
Jeff Cobb
Katsuyori Shibata
Mark Haskins

I'm not too great at using celebrities as reps, but Cillian Murphy for have a good look to him as well.
