When you get the blues!

All right now that my reference is over i can get down to the real point here. I just thought it might be cool to ask/know or talk about, So do you guys play any instruments? if so which ones? and how long? If you don't are there any you'd want to learn? you know just stuff like that.

I'll start i guess.

I play the Viola and Guitar. Been playing viola sense 4th grade so for about 7 or 8 years now. I've been playing guitar sense august of last year so almost a full year with that now. Some songs i really liked that i've played on viola are Secrets by cold play i think is who it's by, I'd say a few others too but i don't remember the exact names of 'em.lol Some songs i like that i've played on guitar are Stand by me by Ben E. King, My girl By The Temptations and i'd have to say one i'm somewhat learning somewhat not would be Kimi no machi made by Asian Kung-Fu Generations.

You have great taste in music.

I used to be able to play "Love Me Tender" by Elvis Presley and "Endless Love" by Lionel Richie & Diana Ross on the piano but that was like 25 years ago. Never really tried anything else.

I made a couple of albums about... 13 years ago? on Fruity Loops. They were... mediocre. Some of the tracks were decent. Nothing special. Very amateur.

I'm a decent singer, and if you leave me alone with a keyboard long enough I can figure shit out. I can't read music tho, and I've never had any formal training for anything, so... I'm only so good.

I played cello for about 8 years. I regret dropping it in a fit of teenage anger. I can still pick one up and play, albeit not as well as I once did. I played bass guitar for a bit too, but I wasn't good at all.

I can play guitar. I've been playing off and on since I was 12. That said, I'm still only decent at it. I can play a few songs here and there, and it's mostly rock songs. Blink 182, Bush, Seether, Shinedown, Bruce Dickinson. I've been trying to learn some songs by Journey and Kansas. Some stuff I learned to play by ear, but for the most part it's guitar tabs. Like Wight, I can't read sheet music either.

I used to play trumpet in the 6th grade and all through middle school, so I had learned to read sheet music then. But once I left middle school, I was done with trumpet and haven't tried reading sheet music since.

They were self-published. Like most of my achievements, they're not quite THAT impressive. But thank you. I no longer have any of the tracks, but here's the stuff I was able to upload to Newgrounds AGES ago. This isn't even my account anymore, honestly... and AGAIN the tracks are amateurish at best. I recommend Space Alien Clusterfuck, Lightswitch Rave, Cemetary Sodomy (Buttsex Remix), Just Another Vice, and Culex's Disco. The rest are anywhere from passable to miserable. NSFW on a few of them, of course, due to the samples used...

I also did vocal samples for a techno track Karl Shuh Jr./The Loon 2.5/Kahl the Gaul did... something like 10 years ago? That's not uploaded anywhere, I have it on my hard drive tho...

As a young lad I tried my hand at pretty much everything on offer; guitar, recorder, piano, chello. The one that stuck was violin and I can still play a smidge but that went out as I started to spend more time in snooker clubs. That's way more fun.

I can't play an instrument for shit. So I stick with vocals. And despite the fact that puberty was not kind to me when it comes to my speaking voice, I can pull off a hell of a range singing. Collective Soul? Easy. Napalm Death? I can do that too. Slayer? Of course. Immortal? Little hard on the vocal cords but I can do that too. Type O Negative? Yep. Iron Maiden? Why not.

Well now I just miss Peter Steele all over again. :(

When Brandie and I got together, one of her favorite bands was Type O. We'd drive around listening to their cover of Summer Breeze and just chilling. Good times.

I love this thread. So cool to hear about all of this stuff, also definitely checking out Wight's stuff sometime soon.

As for me, I played viola in my middle school orchestra, except I wasn't good at it really. Still have it rotting away somewhere in my closet. About two-ish years ago, I picked up a bass guitar and have been a lil on and off with it but I'm told I'm decent. Looks like I might be in a band soon too!

I took guitar briefly around middle school. Haven't tried in a couple of decades now. Keep saying I want to try again.

And Type O was an awesome live show.

Actually when I was in pre school I played the violin! My mom has videos of me in my violin class and I was good. I played the piano to, I hated it though, so I wasn't very good. My teachers name was Goontar and every time I missed up he'd yell "DAAAAAHH!!!!" Lol! Random story time guys, sorry.

Type O was once commissioned to do Kane's theme. Not sure if I've mentioned that before. Sadly, it never got used, which is a shame because it's fucking AMAZING.

YEARS ago, right after id Software had released "Doom" commercially they did another game called "Blood". On the full retail cd-rom they had the video for "Everyone I Love Is Dead" by Type-O. I believe they used their music as well.

Looks like we could start our own band! Everyone and their pet gorilla knows I play bagpipes, and I've been honking away at those awkward things for almost 25 years now. I'm a published song writer according to the Canadian government, who purchased the rights to a bagpipe tune I wrote in 2006 in order to make it public domain. Easiest 100 bucks I ever made, if I can be honest. According to legal documentation produced after purchase, I am henceforth known as "the artist". Still too soon for Prince jokes, folks. Still too soon. I also wrote a pipe tune for my father one year for Christmas. I've been recorded for CD's and was the featured soloist for the Nokia Brier back in 2003, for all you curling nerds out there. Bagpipes have also put my sexy ass on TV more than once, with a few YouTube videos to my credit as well.

Little known fun fact is that I also play a little guitar, piano, trumpet (1st chair, bitches!) and I can strum a tune or two on my ukulele. I sing in the shower or in my underwear when I'm wandering around my apartment, plugged into my iPod and unplugged from the rest of the world. Music is my life. Well, that's not true. My life is all kinds of odds and sods... I just really like music is all.

A curt nod and tip of the cap to my fellow musicians out there. I hope you guys aren't starving for your art.
