So, between my RP clinic and my thread about insight into the booking side of e-fedding, I've put my voice out there a lot when it regards my opinion of e-fedding. But the rest of the board... that's a little bit of a different story. I thought it would be very interesting and very beneficial to perhaps discuss how we each see e-fedding today. Perhaps it could improve our overall experience. There's a few simple questions below, coded for your convenience. If this thread gets a little traction I'll reply with my own answers, though I'm sure we've heard them all before.

1. What do you want to achieve when you write a roleplay? What are your goals? Why do you write RPs the way you do? I've always tried to adhere to the theory of the micro and macro of the universe the e-fed is set in. In the sense of, what's my character's personal storyline? And, what's the overall storyline at play in the fed, or the storyline involving my character and others? How can I move ideally both along in some way? Obviously entertainment is a factor too. Trying to make it not a bore to trudge through. And, I try to take into account something a lot of veterans have said over the years in some form or another. Hogan, Austin, Flair, Race, Savage, the list goes on. Trash talk, but don't bury, there is a clear distinction that not a lot of guys in the wrestling business get, and I do think some handlers don't get it either. If you say somebody's a piece of shit, you beat them thoroughly too, it doesn't do any good for anyone, because hey, champ, guess what? You're right! You beat a piece of shit! Good...job...? But I think a lot of people get a narrow idea of what that means. It doesn't mean that you have to necessarily praise them, being completely negative about some character is fine depending on what you talk about, the wording, and the narrator. An example, Lioncock. Lioncock was a character of mine that was a highly delusional, highly egotistical bully. He'd talk about how he was a deity made flesh and how his opponent was a pansy. He'd then get the crap stomped out of him 99% of the time. This made him an unreliable narrator, people knew he was full of shit, so Lioncock became what I wanted him to be, comical. Because it was funny this jerkface that was so over the top in his ego tripping didn't realize how much of a clown he was. Team mate, opponent, I always try to leave characters looking better in some way and with some plot thread exiting an encounter. 2. What do you want to see when you read someone else's RPs? Do you expect them to have the same values as you? In a perfect world, everyone would follow the general guidelines I penned above in some manner, not necessarily in the exact same way as me. Because that'd be boring, I don't want to read my own writing in every single RP. I just think the hobby would be a healthier thing overall for everyone. I think it would lead to less misunderstandings and less anger, and less hyper, not fun, competitive situations. But ultimately people can write however they want. Naturally after a character's been introduced I come to expect a certain style or idea behind their work when I click on it. That doesn't always have to stay the same though either, if they write well enough an explanation for a shift in the personality of their character. Or, a shift in the dynamic maybe between their characters or their character and other ones. 3. How often do you read RPs beyond those directly involved in your match? I couldn't tell you on the daily, but I read all the RPs posted by deadline. I don't even judge, I just do it because I like to see what other people are up to. 4. What does winning a championship mean to you? It's nice, because it's something of the e-fed equivalent of getting a pat on the back. I'm not obsessed with it though. I've seen people burn themselves out obsessing over a title, whether winning it or keeping it. 5. What does LOSING a championship mean to you? It really depends on the situation. Under normal circumstances, I don't really care. If I had ideas or even plans to do something with it, it can be a little disappointing. But sometimes titles can be albatrosses for people for one reason or another, and sometimes it's a genuine good thing for the character or for the handler or both to lose the title. 6. What do you want to see out of a match written for your character? What DON'T you want to see? How long/short should it be? I don't really care too much about length. If I get even short results, I accept it and roll with the punches. All I really look out for in matches is that my character is written true to form, whether that's competent or not depends on the character. And, that my character is given at least a little something that they can work off of going into next week. 7. What's important to you about wrestling storylines? That they tell a story and that they have a purpose, and that they make sense. Beyond that, go wild. 8. What's the best way to make you interested in a story that has nothing to do with your character? Do something different, go outside of your character's or your comfort zones. Clever writing, especially if it involves a twist or a shift for one or more characters, that makes me go "Ah ha! I never saw that coming, but it totally makes sense for that character!" Engaging stories, essentially. |

1. What do you want to achieve when you write a roleplay? What are your goals? Why do you write RPs the way you do? The idea, first and most obviously is to try to win the match. I want to make it interesting to read, meet the requisites of my character and any feuds i'm involved in. I'm not looking to be deep or edgy. This is a game, and it's pro wrestling on top of that, so it's not that serious. I want to get my opponent over, so that I look even better if I win, and I don't look as bad if I lose. 2. What do you want to see when you read someone else's RPs? Do you expect them to have the same values as you? No, but I do want to see them meet their gimmick, get me over, help with a feud if we're in one, and not be a bore to read. 3. How often do you read RPs beyond those directly involved in your match? If there's a match I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing, I'll read every RP involved. Other than that, I have a few favorites that I usually read. 4. What does winning a championship mean to you? Not as much as it used to? In that, it's fun to be a champion and represent FIW, and be an important part of the roster, and honestly I want to win as many titles as I can but I feel like (not to toot my own horn) that I don't need a championship to be a big part of what FIW's doing. That used to be a thing for me when I was trying to find my place here, but now not so much. 5. What does LOSING a championship mean to you? Again, nothing big. Especially if whoever beats me is a great roleplayer. There's been times I was proud to lose a title because it was such a great match and RP cycle. 6. What do you want to see out of a match written for your character? What DON'T you want to see? How long/short should it be? I want to see my characters look strong, whether they win or lose. Really, that's it. It helps my opponent and it helps me. Although I understand how short results really help writers, I'd like the matches to be a decent length. I like to use what happens in matches to fuel my RPs after and it's hard when the action is very generalized. 7. What's important to you about wrestling storylines? That there is a start, middle and end that makes sense and helps everyone. 8. What's the best way to make you interested in a story that has nothing to do with your character? Do something different, but not CRAZY different that makes me think "this is unrealistic" and tune out. There's a ton you can do in the world of wrestling that will get my attention. |

1. What do you want to achieve when you write a roleplay? What are your goals? Why do you write RPs the way you do? Right now i think i'm going for a short story kind of thing with my rp style. I don't know if you tell or not,but that's what i'm trying for. My end goal is progress stories and maybe do good enough to get a win along the way. 2. What do you want to see when you read someone else's RPs? Do you expect them to have the same values as you? I hope for it to be entertaining and not super hard to follow, despite mine being the exact opposite of that at times.lol i think as long as they do what they are wanting to accomplish thani think that's good enough. 3. How often do you read RPs beyond those directly involved in your match? Honestly not often. I'm in two other efeds too and have school so i get busy plus my eyes start hurting after a while so i just try to read the stuff that pertains to my characters. That might be wrong to some people, but that's how i've done it sense i started, maybe when i over summer brea it will increase. 4. What does winning a championship mean to you? Even though it's a game and it's not real or means much of anything out side of this board, it means allot. I feel like i've accomplished something special and that my hard work in said efed has paid off. It's like we're real wrestlers and we've won an actual belt. 5. What does LOSING a championship mean to you? Of course it sucks, but if i can help get another persons character over and they have worked their butts off just as much as me or even more than i'm cool with it. It still stings a little, but if your perfect and the absolute best than their starts to become too much pressure and it doesn't become fun anymore it becomes more like a job or something, and for me at least i want this to stay fun and not be stressful or feel like a job. 6. What do you want to see out of a match written for your character? What DON'T you want to see? How long/short should it be? I WANT to see my characters not be jobbed out or anything like that. I'd like to see some cool spots here and there, especially on ppvs. I DON'T WANT to see my guys and gals be jobbed out and look super weak or terrible, unless story lines call for it. I honestly don't care how long or short the match is just please try to make it longer than one paragraph and i'll be happy. 7. What's important to you about wrestling storylines? What's important, huh? Well, i'd say a few things are. For one i hope to get character development and change from my characters or any one elses too. I hope for the wrestlers to gain experience and maybe even have a face/heel turn or something if it's a huge story line. I think if it's a fun read and a cool idea than go for it as long as the fed head and the persons involved are up for it than the skys the limit! 8. What's the best way to make you interested in a story that has nothing to do with your character? I think like i said above if the story is interesting to me or if it looks like it's going in a cool direction i'll try to follow it a little bit. I'm not sure how to describe it, but i get drawn in to some for a reason or another and pushed away by others for reasons as well. |

1. What do you want to achieve when you write a roleplay? What are your goals? Why do you write RPs the way you do? I try to make some one laugh. At least one person normally. But I also try to make Rob as annoying as possible to his opponent. But I also try to get the feud hot. I write my rp's the way I do because I try to make it an easy read for people. I don't use words to big, I try to keep it simple in the explanations while getting the reader invested in Robs childish story. 2. What do you want to see when you read someone else's RPs? Do you expect them to have the same values as you? Larger text. Lol! I'm pretty easy about things. I like reading everyones work. As long as its diverse and they try to stand out or make their promos different. 3. How often do you read RPs beyond those directly involved in your match? Hmmm.. Honestly, 50/50. Well kinda. I usually read promos that I am involved in and or could be mentioned in. One thing I've done with Rob is get him heat with almost everyone. So it forces me to read others promos just to see if he gets mentioned. Then thats how I end up discovering others promos and end up liking their styles. Even tho weve been friends forever I would tell Ryan I read his promos and never would Lol! Up until now I actually read them. I like his stuff, he can be really funny when he wants to. Also I like to read Wight, Freakshow, Nathan, KW, Toms, Lita as Kim C I havent read Johnnys. Mr. Otaku. Oh I know something I'd like to see in an rp! I get confused when people dont say whos speaking. I've figured it out since, but sometimes if there is two people talking and I don't know whos colors are what then I can instantly lose interest. lol! I like reading others as well but I wont. mention them all 4. What does winning a championship mean to you? I've been recognized for my hard work and I'm proud to have won it. 5. What does LOSING a championship mean to you? I either had it coming, the other person did a better job or, its time to move on. You can't be champion forever, unless your Hogan or Bruno. 6. What do you want to see out of a match written for your character? What DON'T you want to see? How long/short should it be? I write sometimes, and sometimes if the person in a match doesn't rp I make them get the most beat down or take a pin with out burying them. I just don't want Rob to be treated like a punk. Although he is a weasle he wont just run away with his tail between his legs. He's an extreme wrestler and thats possibly the reason why he is the way he is. Too many shots to the head. So he has lost some brain cells. I mean as a writer, I understand some times we're short staffed and some people have more then one match so if mine comes out at 2 paragraphs, I am not mad about it. Usually the short ones even make the good points. 7. What's important to you about wrestling storylines? It makes sense and does the job to help get some one over. 8. What's the best way to make you interested in a story that has nothing to do with your character? I don't know. I can find interest in the most random things and lose interest in others really quickly. I dont know how to explain it. As long as it makes sense its good for me I guess. |

I know I haven't been on the active roster in awhile, but I'm always intrigued to read the responses and share my own in threads like this. ----- 1. What do you want to achieve when you write a roleplay? What are your goals? Why do you write RPs the way you do? When I was writing Silas, Lucas & Grimm, I was usually a part of a long term story, with roleplays and matches serving as chapters as part of that story. Sometimes that story was whatever angle I was taking part in, sometimes it was more character driven, sometimes it was both. My main goal when I was writing was to both be true to my art and my vision for my characters and to give my audience something they can sink their teeth into. That's one of the reasons I wrotefor as long as I did; fedding was like writing a book that lasted as long as I wanted, and after each chapter I could ask for feedback and strike a balance between what I wanted to write and what everyone else wanted to see from my characters (which was why I spammed and postwhored in the feedback forum as much as I did ).2. What do you want to see when you read someone else's RPs? Do you expect them to have the same values as you? Most people probably don't have the same values that I did, and I didn't expect them to. Most people wanted to win matches and titles and stuff, I didn't really care about that any of that, especially during my 2014-16 run. I cared more about telling compelling stories and writing interesting characters. I'm not anti-competition or anything, I didn't have an issue having a long term angle with somebody and at the end having it come down to roleplays. After roleplaying for a million years, the week-to-week stuff against random opponents just didn't do anything for me anymore.3. How often do you read RPs beyond those directly involved in your match? It kinda depended on my mood. Some weeks I read everything, some weeks I kept to my favorites. 4. What does winning a championship mean to you? It's cool, but, at least for Lucas & Silas, it didn't really matter that much. Silas had one run with the FSC and by the end of it, I was begging Marc (the fedhead at that time) to drop it. Generally, for me, winning a title meant I had to relinquish a degree of control of my own destiny, which I didn't like. 5. What does LOSING a championship mean to you? FREEDOM~! ![]() 6. What do you want to see out of a match written for your character? What DON'T you want to see? How long/short should it be? Ten thousand German Suplexes. My matches didn't have to be long or complex or anything, especially since Lucas & Silas weren't wrestling characters in the same vein as a Kurt Angle or Samoa Joe. As long as my characters didn't do anything too out of the ordinary, I was usually happy. And if I ever needed to touch base with a writer, just ask Bleak or Sid, I'd blow up their PM box. ![]() 7. What's important to you about wrestling storylines? As long as they're kept simple and compelling. 8. What's the best way to make you interested in a story that has nothing to do with your character? Pretty much what Nir said. |
