Okay, I've had a few days to chill and think things over, and I wanted to apologize for how I came across when I replied to this thread a few days ago. More specifically to Otaku, Jes, Hayden, and anybody else who's joined the fed and stuck around since I left the fed last year. Obviously, you prove my "No new people join the fed!" rant wrong. Just as well, I tend to (for better or worse) exaggerate and embellish when I make a point I have strong feelings about. I'll also add that I was a bit pressed for time when I typed up and posted what I posted, so I didn't have three and a half hours to type up my feelings in a more diplomatic manner. So, to you three and Bob and anybody else I may be leaving out, I apologize.

But... Man, you know how shitty it is when somebody new joins the fed, and that person posts an awesome bio, and they post a few off the charts roleplays, and then they just vanish? You know how shitty that is? And do you have have any idea how many times I've seen it happen? I've been a part of FIW, active or inactive, since 2003, so it's a fuckin' lot. So when someone new joins the fed and actually sticks around for awhile, it's a pretty cool thing to see. I get happy and get excited because it also makes me feel good about the future of the fed. Yeah, I don't work here anymore, but I still want the fed to go on and thrive and kick ass! That's one of the reasons I've been a bit more active as of late, because there's about to be a power change and I want to be sure things go swimmingly.

Anyway, back to my main point, it's cool to see new people join the fed. And earn their stripes. And kick ass. And contribute in important areas like match writing and roleplay judging and post about things besides their own stuff in the feedback threads. But when that person is really somebody who's been a part of the fed in the past who is writing and contributing under a different alias, it's kinda shitty. It's unnecessary lying. And IMO it's worse if it's over some petty OOC bullshit.

So, I dunno, just be friends and stuff, I guess? Iy's just, people sit here and talk and act like FIW is just this great community. But if it's so great, why feel the need to join the fed under a different alias? Why pretend to be somebody you're not? "Because _____ doesn't like me?" Hash your shit out, agree to disagree and move on with your lives. Because what are we doing at the end of the day? We're roleplaying professional wrestlers FFS! None of this is real! I'm not going to get a job if I put '3 time Dual Crown Champion' on my job resume. I'm not going to turn a woman on if I tell her about my e-fed title history. And, as satisfying an accomplishment as it was for me, I'm not going to put "Wrote 2015 FIW 'Babyface of the Year' Lucas Bergeron" on my headstone when I die.

Y'know what is real, though? The people. The friendships. The relationships. The comradery. Being a member of and contributing to a culture.

That's what matters.

Not titles.
Not wins and losses.
Not booking.

That's ALL bullshit.

Hey, they're great, though. I'm happy to have the title and awards history that I do here. I'm proud of the resume I've made for myself here. But I also recognize, ultimately, outside of this enviornment, they don't mean a whole lot.

So... I dunno... I think I'm outta stuff to say. Just like eachother or whatever, idk.

Sorry I'm coming in late on this, I did have a few thoughts figured out the first time you posted but I wanted to give it time so it didn't seem like I was trying to argue with you over your thoughts and views. So here we go.

I can understand it being better in most cases to come toward those you feel you've wronged in the past for one reason or another and, to be honest, that's something I attempted some years back during my final NGIW run. I understood of everyone there Wight and myself had the biggest disagreements so I approached him.

Coming back here under a different alias was as much for myself as everyone else as my name carries with it some deep seated ill roots that I know causes some of the older members to ask themselves questions about my run when I come in.
-When am I turning them gay?
-When am I killing one off?
-When is one going to say/do something so stupid it would, in normal society, land them in jail/without a job?

As much as I would like to think so otherwise, I can't just approach people and say "Hi again, I'm thinking of coming back. Don't worry about those problems because I'm not going to do any of those." It's essentially become a definition of who I am here now, unfortunately. Therefore, it was felt a different alias was the better choice to not try and convince but show what I could do with characters I wanted to write. Though I don't know if people are convinced or if they're now back to waiting for the other shoe to drop.

As for the feeling of having someone new turning out to be someone old...I can't see why it's bad. When DeaconDEATH came out to be Kyle, I was like "right on". If Jes came out and said "I'm actually Shaun Wilson" or "Marcus Helix" even I'd be like "cool." Because at the end of the day he's a roleplayer, he's a storyline contributor, he's a feedback giver, a conversation starter, a voice on another persons concerns/interests. He's a social member of the board and that's, as you said, what matters most. :)

I hope this comes out okay, I know I've said this before that I'm horrible on first explanations.

I reiterate what I said before as well, and what Joe said. Just because one or more parts of the "problem" wanna be nice and get along doesn't mean they all do. And one person acting a fool is all it takes to hamper the experience for everyone.

If all you have to do to get that done is remove your identity from the equation, or indeed, if that's your ONLY option, then I say do it. Is it a lie? Sure. But ultimately it doesn't hurt anyone. If I decided ten years ago to go by Joseph as my first name, is that a lie? Is it any worse than if Joe changes his screen name, changes his characters, and doesnt bother bringing IP his difficult history in an attempt to move past it? I guarantee if someone PMed him and said "hey, are you Joe Wilson?" he would've answered honestly. It's a lie by omission if you wanna get really critical about it, but it doesn't HURT anyone. Especially Joe. Instead of having to suffer through people doubting him or judging him on past deeds or whatever, he gets a clean slate. Then he can PROVE, without people constantly hounding him otherwise.

Case in point, I've done nothing but doubt Seph since his return, and with but one or two exceptions he's done nothing but prove me wrong. Now he's Rising Champion and deserves it. He's doing good work with Neo Carner so far. He's been great out of character for the most part. There's certainly something to be said about his integrity in suffering the doubts of myself and others, but could anyone blame him for not wanting to in the first place? Signing up as ThisBloodyJenova with new character Alastor Saintclaire and just putting his past behind him to live his life?

I can't. You do you. I don't care if your name is Jim or CatfishJake or Coctus Jock. What matters is that you're a good person. Same thing goes for a bad seed. If you suck, I don't care if you're under a new name, an old name, or a completely different person; you don't belong here.
