“Good things really do come to the patient, huh?” Fading in, this week we find Bradley Johnson at the gym. Well, I say at the gym, I mean his own private gym. He’s sitting on a chair at the moment, shirt off, sweating like a pig. It’s been a hell of a workout, evidently Johnson: This is it, Jimbo. My time. My shot at you, and my shot at your title. My first shot at the top prize in… pushing for two years now. He pauses, and gulps down some air. He looks considerably less shattered than he did at the start of the promo, and he probably feels it Johnson: Do I look tired Jimbo? I should. Two solid hours of non-stop endurance training will do that to you. But you look at me now, and I’m still pretty fresh. Give me ten more minutes, and I could do it all over again. I’m fit. I’m strong. I can last anything you have to throw at me. He smiles Johnson: The question is, how much can you endure? Can you last through Elrick gunning for a shot at your title, followed by Bradley Johnson gunning for the belts themselves? Two tough men Jimbo. Both gunning for the big one. You could be in that ring for North of an hour, Jimbo. Can you really last that long? He looks at the camera, inquisitively, as if Jim O’Brien is suddenly going to possess the camera and answer his question. For several seconds, he simply stares, awaiting his answer. Then, as if the camera had answered him, he grins, satisfied, and moves on Johnson: I didn’t think so. You’re not really an endurance man, are you Jimbo? The end of your match this week showed that, didn’t it? You don’t remember? Well, let’s take a look, my friend. But Jim isn’t satisfied just yet, and lifts Vinj back up onto his shoulders and delivers another power-NOO!!! Vinj starts to fight back with a few fists and looses Jim’s grip! Vinj is then able to flip over Jim! Before his opponent even knows what’s going on, Vinj wraps his under and around Jim’s shoulders and links them over his neck! Vinj then throws back with whatever strength he has NAILS JIM HEAD FIRST INTO THE CANVAS WITH A DRAGON SUPLEX!! Vinj then completes the rollover with the grip still intact and tries to snap Jim’s head off his shoulders! TM: MEDIOCRE JOKER!!! NO! JH: It’s Medio-CORE Joker. Cos, ya know, Vinj is hardcore and he’s making the victim less than hardcore by beating them. Get it right people. Like instant coffee to water, Maclay sees the submission move in place and rushes to his partners defence. Rage spots Maclay a mile away, and while he COULD just let him break up the pin so that Rage could do the damage to the Dual Crown Champ, Rage forgoes that honour and stops Maclay in his tracks with a SAIKYOU KICK!! JH: THAT SAIKYOU KICK IS AWESOME!! Vinj continues to torque back on Jim’s neck, but Jim is fast making for the ropes! TM: Look at that strength. Vinj can hardly contain it. Jim gets with an arms length of the edge of the ring and then grabs onto the ropes! NO! TM: Jim JUST missed the ropes! Jim’s fingers only touch the ropes as Vinj turns himself and Jim’s body around to avoid the ropebreak! TM: Jim’s still holding on! Jim begins to go red in the face as the modified sleeper takes into affect. Rage and Maclay tumble on the ground, each taking turns to mount each other until Maclay gets an upperhand and sprints towards Vinj and Jim. Maclay dives and breaks up the submission-WAIT!-NO! HE WAS TRIPPED Rage drags Maclay back and Jim taps out! Johnson: Good move, that Mediocore Joker, isn’t it? Absolute bastardisation of the English language, but still an impressive move. But Jimbo, forty seconds? That’s all it takes for you to tap out? A man six inches shorter and seventy-one pounds lighter than you can make you tap in less than a minute? It doesn’t sound impressive, does it Jimbo? Particularly not for a Dual Crown Champion. He smiles, patronisingly Johnson: You see, Vinj suddenly has a major claim on a shot at that Dual Crown. He made the Champion tap out. He made the top man on Tuesday Night Throwdown tap out. Do you have any idea what that means Jim? Do you have any idea how significant that is for Vinj’s career? Do you have any idea how significant that is for your own career? Do you? Again, that inquisitive stare. It’s actually quite unnerving. A few seconds of staring pass, before Johnson continues Johnson: Let me explain this to you, Jimbo. Vinj makes the Dual Crown Champion tap out. For Vinj, it’s one of the greatest things ever. He looks strong. Looks powerful. In the eyes of many, he should have a shot at the Champion in a title match. And why not, he can make the Champion tap out. He deserves his chance, and there’s every chance he can pull off the big one. Making you tap out is one of the best things that’s happened to Vinj since he came here. He pauses for breath. Not because he’s tired from the training any more, matter of fact he looks fresh as a daisy. Just because this is quite a long monologue Johnson: And then we look at you, Jimbo. The Dual Crown Champion. Tuesday Night Throwdown’s number one guy. The man. The big cheese. It should be near enough impossible to beat you Jim. Certainly, a nobody from the Hutt River Province should not be able to make you tap out. You know how that makes you look, Jimbo? It makes you look weak. It makes you look vulnerable. It destroys your aura of invincibility. You know the amazing thing about those auras Jim? They can take a career to create, and then a moment to destroy. And, after a hard-fought victory over Fozzy Mc Queen. After making yourself look damn unbeatable again, what do you do? You tap out to Vinj. Blow that aura away once again. And what are you now, Jimbo? You’re a beatable champion. People are going to go into matches with you, they’re no longer going to think “I might have a chance with this, if luck is on my side”. They’re going to go into matches with you thinking “I have more than a chance of winning this thing”. A wry grin spreads across his face Johnson: You don’t inspire fear any more, Jimbo. People are going to anticipate going into matches with you now. Tapping out to Vinj. That’s all it took. All that hard work, flushed away because the only way you could get out of a hold was to beg for your release. You couldn’t crawl to the ropes. You couldn’t sit your fat arse on the bastard. Hell, you couldn’t even try and eat him, see if that didn’t make him let go. No, you had to beg. Brad leans forward, his expression more serious Johnson: What kind of champion begs, Jimbo? What kind of champion has to ask for mercy from anyone less than God himself? Can you tell me that Jimbo? No? Well then, I’ll tell you. A weak champion, Jim. And we can’t have a weak champion. It’s just not right. A champion by definition must be stronger than the rest. A champion should rise above the ordinary. A champion should not tap out to a nobody from the Hutt River Province. Another pause, again for breath Johnson: So this leads me to one conclusion, Jim. You’re not a champion. You’re a transition. A figure to keep hold of those title belts whilst the true champion emerges. You’ve done your job. The true champion is coming. He shalt rise up from the ordinary people, and you shall know him, for he shalt be The Purist. Fade out |
