No, I definitely get you. And that's honestly about the response I expected. I don't tend to expect the worst of people (unless my own paranoia is going haywire) so it's nice to get exactly what I predict. Pet and Terri (again, my personal distastes aside) are clearly doing some shit. For me to fear or assume it's going to go one way is one thing, but I couldn't possibly feel comfortable predicting or claiming to know what you're doing with them. Like, you're right. I would've been so tired of Pet lying by now. This progression is logical for the character; I just don't care for it. Which is why I say I hope the next one is something more to my liking... but... I dunno. Unless something changes in the way this character acts/interacts with people, unless there's some weird catalyst that points her strongly in a different direction I don't see her personality logically changing into something I like more.

I think a lot of the reason you perceive the Spectre Girls to be "my" stable of yours is because they're probably the most approachable people you have? Like I said before, Pet and Terri aren't fun people to be around. When I'm actually... like... competitively playing my characters I try not to get them too close to... uh... whirring metal blades? I don't know why but I was thinking about when I worked at Denny's and jacked up my finger on a speed-mixer for milkshakes. Lemme try that again. Most of your current FIW characters are... like, that kind of person you see that you fall head over heels for. They don't know you exist, but somehow you know a lot about them; bad problems with meth, fucking CRAZY stories about stunts they've pulled... but the heart wants what it wants and you go "man, this is probably the worst decision I'm ever going to make in my life' when you walk up to them, but you HAVE to walk up to them, and three weeks later your parents think you're a prostitute and "someone" burnt down your car.

That kind of got away from me, hopefully you understood what I meant. Like, if I didn't have my own shit I've got going on right now I could have a character walk up to Blink and talk to her, whatever. But Pet? No. Terri? FUCK no. Honey/Samatha? Ehhh... maybe. But they're still too close to Terri for any long-term connection. Once you 'hook up' with a Joe character, be it friendship or romance or whatever... that shit sticks with your character for LIFE. Look at Joe Stanton, Pixie Korpse, Jaime Lee, Spade, Vi... and there's one lady out of the whole bunch right now who isn't currently whirring metal blades.

As I've always said, ALWAYS; you do you. I don't HAVE to like your shit. Especially here; I'm only one voice among the masses. But at the same time, if you want give and take... you gotta play ball a little bit. Sometimes Jinx has to drop kayfabe. Sometimes TIER has to admit Neo Carner makes good points. Havok spent the better part of this year as violently unapproachable because of his attitude/gimmick. I made my peace with that until I couldn't stand it anymore and brought in fucking four more characters to hang out with people. One of them custom-tailored to do EXACTLY that.

I'm officially too tired to be typing. If I haven't made any sense here, I'm sorry. Just ignore me. I just wanted to agree with you, commend you, and put some closure on this whole shebang.

I just want to say that I believe 90% of the reason your characters are probably ignored in party threads is because your reputation of swerving people all the time and making them feel like anything they do doesn't affect your pre-set stories.

You probably haven't done that for a long time, but the majority of the people you're playing this game with have been here for most of those times and most of us have been involved in them. It's incredibly frustrating to write something only for it to ultimately still lead to where we as readers saw it going all along. I don't say this to pick on you, but just to help you better understand why it's happening. The only advice I can give on that topic is to continue to show that you don't do that anymore by taking advantage of any outside interactions you are getting. For example, don't have Pet and Blink magically raise enough money to save Catherine. I'm sure the two of us can find a better conclusion to this story that doesn't involve Jo's characters fixing it when you want to write Catherine as a heel again.

The other 10% of the reason is likely due to the excessive number of characters and their interweaving stories. Like Wight said, we get that they have perfectly detailed internal lives but that can be daunting for someone to step into. For example, nearly all of your characters have multiple names that different people use when referring to them. Why? Other than confusing the reader, I'm not entirely sure why you would want to use multiple names for a single character.

Pet - I liked Pet better when she was silly and her sexual content was just teetering over the line of tasteful. It's far too excessive now. The stuff with Blink in particular is too overboard and the fact that Blink just allows it to happen makes her an even worse character than I already found her to be. Again, I echo Wight. Moderation. I preferred Pet when she was a very much akin to the Cat from WWF's Attitude Era. She was fun. Now she's just trashy and crass. It feels like you've absolutely abandoned everything that was interesting about this character to write softcore sex scenes and pretend that she's suddenly a legit wrestler. That's not who I subscribed to.

Blink - My opinion on her has never changed. She's that one character in a movie that is written to be loved by the viewer by never offending anyone, which generally makes them the most annoying and least-liked character in the cast.

Catherine - I'm enjoying Catherine currently. She's playing a brand new role without compromising the character you've built for her. I'd just play up her frustration with it a bit more. I understand there's little she can say, but finding non-verbal ways to convey her frustrations with the situation would help a lot.

Terri - Wight summed her up perfectly. Growing her staff with more of your NPCs doesn't really make her a better character. If anything, it takes away from her character because now you're relying too much on building characters up around her rather than giving her any character. There are ways to acknowledge losses without having Terri outright say "I'm a loser!" I think this plays a big role in why people don't want to work with this character. They either lose and continue to be taunted over it til the end of days, or they win and it's never mentioned again. What's the point of even building heat with the character?

Just gonna be brief here 'cause I really should be sleeping. I never intend for Blink and Pet to be the reason Catherine gets out from under Kim. Which is why I came to you with the notion that maybe Kim does something when it seems the two of them are getting close. Not to mention when Catherine won the $10,000 I was immediately trying to get rid of it without it ever getting to her. Which is why Catherine challenged Mercedes to that ladder match over it. Because Catherine with 10K, that's kind of like a middle finger from her to Kim right there.

That's about it for now, I'll try and improve on some of the aspects brought up.

Party on,
Joe.

I'd just like to add that it's perhaps not a case of not having any effect as much as things being affected in ways that I can't understand, or relate to.

Also, your characters are so interwoven as to be called matted. It seems to me (an important disclaimer for anything I say,) that any interaction with one carries through on to everyone else, which I guess makes Wight's blender analogy apt. An example from this week, I don't ever expect to read Johnny's response to Brittany and Sakura chatting in a corridor, whereas I feel like if I were to try that with one of your girls, the next step is a reenactment of the party at Bilbo's house, only with latex wearing lesbians instead of dwarves.

Once again, this is just the feeling I get.

The people above me did a better job of saying what I was trying to say in my second reply last night. I was super... SUPER fucking zonked so, like, re-reading it with an awake brain... none of that shit made sense.
