So instead of 8 shows a month we're having...4?

Sounds about right. You seem to be saying that as if it's some kind of negative, but I'm not sure how more shows helps us.

As things are, I think trying to count Fallout as a completely separate show isn't right. It's certainly not separate in the way that NXT is separate from the rest of WWE programming. Characters booked on Fallout in one week can still be booked on ReVolt the next, but no-one is going to be on both in one week, unless we're doing something like running two rounds of a tournament on consecutive nights. In practice, all the second show up is doing is breaking up the one big show.

I'm with Dai. That plan worked great in NGIW.

ReVolt on Sunday, Fallout ten days later on the Wednesday, then eleven days to the next ReVolt? The different names help distinguish what day the show is, and we all get plenty of time to RP? That's exactly the NGIW plan, and it was a brilliant one.

It gives us 17 days out of 21 with an open RP window, compared to 12 out of 21 as things are now. Cards for ReVolt aren't going up until after Fallout, so that's Wednesday to Saturday each week.

If I could get booked exclusively on one show or the other, I might even have energy enough to RP sometimes!

I think its worth trying out. Even with the roleplay extension, my own deadline is Thursday because it's a crap shoot if I get anything out on Friday and Saturday. Whatever we can do to extend the roleplay period and get our results in a timely manner, I'm for it.

*shrug* Just been so used to RPing every week for a show every week for the past two years. Sure sometimes the show was late sometimes, but there was always that consistency.

But it's not like everyone is throwing their hats in the ring to write for the shows so I guess a half schedule would benefit us.

I'm with ya on that. I get that perspective. Friday at 11:59pm had been my deadline since... 03 I think? For a hell of a long time, that's for sure. But there's a lot more joint roleplaying going onon than there used to be, matches are shorter than they used to be because we don't have as many volunteers, this is a case of adjusting to the trends and the personnel that we have now. If this phase passes and we go back to more individual roleplays and have less personnel than we do now then I think it'd be fine to go back to our present format.

Like I said, I think it's worth trying. Lets give it a shot from Legend through Anarchy, and after Anarchy we put it to a vote what format we stick with.

I'm not even sure where to begin in response to all of this. Frustration, massive frustration? It seems week by week we can't stick to what we have arranged and we're CONSTANTLY changing things. I remember voicing my opinion over and over that we needed more time to RP, that keeping the deadline on Saturday was the best idea. Yet we went ahead with moving to Fridays, that lasted for a short while and now we're back to Saturdays. And now... The idea is to change it so there's an even longer period of time in between RPing and show posting? I just don't see how this is a good change of pace for everyone involved.

We really, really, really need to get better about communication and sticking to the plan. Like for example, I was booked on Fallout which didn't even get posted until 4 am EST. Now I'm booked on ReVolt and I have three days to RP. That really shouldn't happen and yet it does consistently. I think the bigger problem here is that we have limited writers, we're not sticking to a short results format as discussed, and most of the time show cards aren't even prepared before the new week rolls around.

I'm sorry, but it's gotten to a point where this really isn't as fun as it used to be. The booking continues to be... Odd. Another thing of note, the FIW Event Dates haven't been changed and I'm not sure if an official date has ever been mentioned for Rise of a Legend. I was under the impression this last string of shows were to be the last before Rise of a Legend, but now we have another week of shows. Things need to be made more transparent for people to plan and RP accordingly.

We need to agree on a set time zone as being the one for deadlines. Right now we don't even go by EST, yet from my understanding that's been the official time zone for as long as I can remember, changing on a case by case basis with whoever is booking.

I propose that those with more than one active wrestler on the roster need to start pitching in to help with the shows. It used to be a requirement that those with more than one character were expected to help out to some degree month by month for this privilege. I propose that maybe we should re-think the decision of having a second show. Especially with how it conflicts with ReVolt if you're double booked and being a day after the primary show.

Also, I hate to be the one to suggest this... But maybe it's time to consider handing the reigns over to someone else? FIW has typically thrived with the input and running of the e-fed by more than one person. All in all, I feel like things could be a lot more smooth, but they just aren't. It seems like the general feeling is we'll get around to it when we get around to it with most things around here.

I thought we were discussing a change with longer RP windows, not more time in between shows.

For example:

ReVolt would go up on Monday, March 16th and ideally the card for the next show would be up no later than Tuesday the 17th for Fallout which would go up on Thursday March 26th. That gives a 7 to 9 day RP window, depending on how timely things are. Then the next card would go up for ReVolt scheduled on Monday, April 6th. That's another 7 to 9 day RP window. These estimates still allow for at least a full day to write shows.

I absolutely understand this, though I'm not exactly in favor of it. I mean, if you have three or four characters then it'd probably be polite of you to pitch in writing for the shows. However, I think two characters provides a healthy roster without conflicting with booking people against themselves. This is especially helpful for the Hellcat Division that would honestly improve my personal enjoyment of this fed, so that's a tad selfish on my part, admittedly.

This is the biggest problem. I really think we need to go to short results. I mean, I get why people want full results but we're lucky to get feedback in these threads that is ACTUALLY feedback on what people wrote for the matches. I know I got tired of putting in the effort of full results only a few shows in. Short results accomplishes the task while getting the same amount of feedback for your efforts.

The move to Friday Night was because of the constant issue of shows coming a day late. And it did help as far as the timing of the shows because during that time I was able to have the show out by the time RAW went off the air. But then our roster expanded so then it was determined we needed a second show to alleviate the Trios and multi-person clusterfucks. AFter the second show was added though, it was determined that even if the ReVolt card was posted, some couldn't RP if they were on Fallout. So I went ahead and added 24 hours to the ReVolt deadline. This whole thing has come from Saturday night not being enough time and as I said a Sunday night deadline is pretty much a guarantee that every show is going to be late.

I had mentioned it last week in the feedback thread that we could use an extra week to set things up. No one said anything about so I figured no one would have an issue with it.

So yeah....I wouldn't doubt you're the only one who has probably thought this. Hell, I've been considering it. I've been thinking it when the shit hits the fan and time is running out and I'm stuck while I'm trying to put together a match. I've been thinking about it every single week that someone ends up pissed or disappointed or hurt by a decision that was made. So following Rise of a Legend I'm stepping down from my position.

When I first took over I wasn't working so I had plenty of free time but now keeping up with correspondence, putting together a schedule for events, trying to put together a summary, compiling the show, booking the next show, etc....I just don't have the time to do all the little things anymore. Add in with that the regular issues and it's all just becoming too much. I've got an issue with trying to satisfy everyone and I know I can't but it is fucking stressful knowing I can't and every single week I've got 75% who approve and 25% who completely disapprove and it just takes everything out of me.

I'm just completely burnt out from everything...booking complaints, constantly having to change plans at the drop of the hat, the ebb and flow of match writers, trying to keep everything going at the same time...and so much more. I'm tired of not sleeping. I'm tired of the constant pressure and constantly being under the crunch. I'm just so tired and I just can't do this anymore. So I guess everyone can start to discuss who is going to succeed me after ROAL.

That sucks. Whoever takes over has to be willing and able to write for the show every week (or the majority of them) like Marc did. That's all I know.

...

I might like to do it, but ask me tomorrow about the pros and cons.

EDIT:

Dai Pros:- Wants to do a good job, because he loves this place. [Read: has wasted too much time here. Because he loves it.]

Dai Cons:- Will most likely suck. [Read: Will need a lot of help working through the issues that he feels might hold him back]

Well, I will say it's probably been a long time coming. Honestly, I was hoping it would happen before you burnt out too much, Marc. With all the shit you had on your plate it just seemed unreasonable to keep asking you to run the place, but I couldn't exactly put my mouth where my ass is since I'm crippled writing wise.

I'd stress this isn't 'cause Marc did a bad job or anything. I quite enjoyed the last couple years and most certainly his booking helped make the Good Men pretty spectacular. So I'm sad Marc's reign is coming to an end, but thankful he'll be able to return to playing and won't have as much on his plate any more.

For whoever takes over next I am available as a second-in-command roll, as I have been since like...'10 or '11.

Youve got me as a mostly-regular writer Dai. I can do it, just finals week is a bitch, you understand.

I demand a democratic election! With speeches! And funny party names! Plus excuses why no one shows up to vote. Ah, democracy.
Party on,
Joe.

I may throw my hat into the mix as well. I'm not 100% sure and echo the sentiments that Dai did about needing help. Also my days of an active RP'er would come to an end which might not be too bad of a thing.

I realize I'm still probably perceived as one of the new people...

Posted Image

But why not Sidewinder?

After writing for the last month or so, I'm confident I could complete a show entirely in the format of short results if I had to. Even more confident if we're still testing out the scheduling format we were talking about earlier in the thread.

Similarly, I'd honor Marc's idea of bringing back the Hellcat title.

Partially because I like that idea. :P

While maybe not as much as some here, I do have experience in e-feds and have worked as an adviser before for fedheads.

I believe there is a creative team that acts in a similar way to the role I had in another fed before. If not, I'd assemble one to just kind of throw ideas around with.

And, I would try to have them, or somebody, weigh in on decision making when it comes to results. If it proves to be difficult to get their thoughts, I'd likely do what Marc was doing and let anyone weigh in and make the final call from there.

So.

Bit of new boss, same as the old one, I guess.

I would do it, because I've been around FIW forever and I love this place and I'd probably recruit Steve, Dai and Lita to be my all-time booking committee, but I am not sure number 1 if you guys would want me to, number 2 I am not sure that I have the free time.

I'll throw my hat in the ring...er wait..as a player. ;) Well I'm glad it didn't take long for anyone to jump at the opportunity. I will forewarn that this has become a beast in itself, even much more so than when I took over. But I am more than ready to have this as just a hobby again and not so much responsibility. I'm willing to still help out with writing as well and I wouldn't mind joining the creative team (and yes we have one assembled) to help out on that front. Anyways thanks to those who sent me the kind words, I'm glad to know it was still enjoyable for some of you. ;)

Glad to hear.

I was kind of worried this was a case of throwing out the baby with the bath water and you were gone entirely.

Glad to see you are sticking around, Marc! Now not that I'm trying to shove you out the door but a new person taking over will involve some planning and coordination between themselves and you. How does everyone propose this new fed-head is chosen? Are we just going to give it to someone? Are we going to take it to a vote? I'm looking at the show schedule and don't see anything for the upcoming new PPV but if I'm under the correct impression we are about 2 weeks away from that? Maybe 3 weeks if it is replacing Anarchy in the UK. We should get the ball rolling on this so that the new head can make plans and get their ducks in a row before taking over.
