I agree.
I'm thinking we put it to a vote since so many volunteered. If it was just one person, then I'd say we just do a transfer of power outright.
I will throw my hat into the ring as a candidate, just keep in mind I will need help if elected.

What we normally do is have a period of those wanting to take over make a topic each with a proposal of sorts, people with questions or comments post and interact with the candidate. Kiss hands, shake babies, accept bribes--that sort of thing. Then a poll is put up for folk to vote in.

For a ppv period I'd say first week of rping is candidate proposal week, then voting the second week.

Ugh... Just hit the preview icon, scrolled down and saw a bunch of new posts since I started this. :( Just gonna post anyway and hope it doesn't get lost.

A few things, mostly maintenance stuff:

- It's pretty much a lock, from judging this thread, that we're adopting NGIW's roleplaying and scheduling format. One other thing I'd really like us to steal from it's rotten carcass adopt is their Whiteboard forum. It's described as such:
Quote:

Looking for a storyline? Check here first. Wanna give the writers or the management team some direction on your feud? This is a great place to start. Just wanna toss out a couple of cool ideas for your next match? Got that, too.

Probably on the bottom of the list of priorities right now, might not be all that relevant to the conversation, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

- I think as time's gone on, I've started to sour on us having roleplay judges and, to some extent, a creative team. Different judges like different things and when you're writing, you don't really know who you're trying to impress when overall, you should be trying to impress and writing for the fed boss. And I know one of the main reasons we adopted a committee was that people were worried that the boss would play favorites or book their friends to win all the time. God, that mindset is so 2005. :P FFS, we're all well into our 20s and some of us our 30s, is anybody here still worried about the boss playing favorites? IMO the final call should be on the fedhead to roleplay judge (the only exception would be if the fedhead is roleplaying a character and his 2nd or 3rd in command judge their roleplays). I know it's extra work but I think it's the right thing to do.

Re: Booking team, I've soured because I just think they're too inclusive. Why lock up and hold back valuable ideas and feedback from everybody? There's a lot of really good ideas, some miniscule and some major, in the War Room that are just collecting dust. Why? Maybe the right set of eyes hasn't seen them yet. Also, I don't think the way the booking team was assembled the best way. Marc just posted a thread and said "I'm starting a creative team, who wants to be on it?" Not that I don't think the people who were presently on it shouldn't have been (maybe except me, because I pretty much just talked about myself the whole time :P), but when we've got Lita, Steve and Dai on the outside looking in, something just doesn't seem right about that.

I think the overall theme I'm getting to is that I don't think that there isn't enough communication going on, whether it be on a creative end or a business end. Yeah, we have these feedback threads but they're pretty much "out of sight, out of mind" as soon as the next show gets posted.

Yeah I was thinking pretty much we can start the candidate process next week and have the voting done by Wednesday the week after. That way we can kind of take care of the transition by the time we reach the PPV (March 30th). I do have a couple of things though...

While I do think the fedhead making the final determination, I do think it's best that he does receive input from anyone willing to give it. I can say right now that the FSC probably would have not been determined that way it had if it wasn't for the input of others and probably a few other decisions (Mungrel's 2nd reign, Neo's rise to the top to name a couple). And while the fedhead should definitely have final say, it always has to be remembered that this is still for all of us. We're the participants but at the same time we're the audience and my general motto while I've been in charge is "that this is for all of you." Because while this thing lives and dies off of the fedhead, the workers are essentially the lifeblood and without them, this place doesn't exist.

Booking team kind of happened because of a lack of participation overall from the group. We were having fantasy booking discussion threads in the general discussion thread but after the first couple people stopped pouring in ideas. I kind of put it together to have at least certain people I knew for sure would put in their input instead of just tossing a line out and hoping someone jumps on it. But 'm all for the whole board being more involved in the booking.

I'm with Marc on getting input on results. That worked fantastically at NGIW. Wight was the one making the final call, but a bunch of us gave feedback for every show. This was meant to keep him from being blindly biased or in case he missed something. It worked very well in keeping things fair and making sure nobody was overlooked. GMing is a very overwhelming experience and it's so easy to miss things when you're looking at the whole picture.

I'm by no means suggesting a team of judges. I've always hated that for the reason Jim listed above. Too many cooks in the kitchen and now everybody wants something different. But if the fed head has a variety of recipes and a list of reasons why the customers would enjoy a certain one more than the other, it's a whole lot easier to make the perfect menu... what the hell? This metaphor may have gotten away from me.

Speaking from experience, yes a team of judges is too much work. You have to hope they get their decisions in on time and you can't always plan for when shit happens. Wrestling storylines and promos and characters are very subjective, so what may suit one person someone else might not enjoy, so it's always best to get as many opinions as you can from those who love the product. I will say I think it has helped the overall awareness with people being more involved in the input process. It seems like as of late a lot more people pay attention to other segments/matches/roleplays they're not involved with, which is of course excellent.
