OOC: Late I know but I started it so I'll finish and post it! Jack Manson’s office is the location for a conversation between the Slam! General Manager and his World Champion, ‘The Oracle’ Orion Oldriod. Manson is sat at his desk working at a laptop while Orion is draped over the couch, relaxing in thought. Orion: He’s got it all wrong… Jack looks up from his work, his eyebrows raised. Manson: Malicious? Oldriod nods, his face is determined. Orion: Yeah, him. He thinks I can’t do this on my own. If he says he can then you can take it to the bank that I can! Slam! GM Manson quickly reassures Oldriod, he closes his laptop to concentrate fully on Orion. Manson: But you don’t have to, Bleak and Dean will be there no matter what. Orion: I know, if Pleasure or Octopus come down to make a difference then Bane Security and Martyn will be there to make sure there is no interference. Are you going to spill the beans about your little plan as relates to my match? Manson: Nope. I’m saving that as a special surprise until Thursday. Jack grins, he is quite proud of his surprise but he won’t reveal it lightly…especially with a camera watching on. Orion: As long as it remains one-on-one I don’t care. I’m not having him walk around here running his mouth about how I need back up everywhere I go, how the fuck dare he???? I’m the World Champion and he should show the proper respect! Manson: I agree, we can’t have everybody just going around here beating people up in limousines whenever they feel like it. That’s why he needs to be taught a lesson and you are the man to do it… Orion: I know, I know. I heard him say that I’m not the King, he’s dead wrong on that and everybody knows it. I stand at the top of the mountain, the king of my castle…who else is there? It could get lonely at the top with just you and Martyn for company. He said I’m not the man I used to be, well I got news for him! He’s not the man he used to be either! At one time people would cower away from him in the corridor but after Matt Impact embarrassed him for this title now everyone knows he’s mortal and can be beaten. Orion now grins, he has seen a chance and is planning on taking it. Orion: All these people on the roster, they would see their name on the card against Marc Malicious and they would develop 24 hour flu, contract a contagious disease that stopped them competing against him. Nowadays they see a challenge that they can overcome, a man that can be beaten. His enigma has vanished, his stronghold over minds weakened and his presence rubbished. Manson: Belief is all you need Orion, he may be a foot taller than you and a hundred pounds heavier but he CAN be defeated. All you need to do is remember that. The master motivator is working his magic with a few well-chosen simple words that are getting at Orion, Oldriod has learnt to be receptive and accept the advise of his mentor. Orion: They’re all laughing at me behind my back, I can feel it. Nightmare, Ragin’, Hutch…they all say that it’s just a matter of time before I drop this belt to one of them. They think that this match with Malicious is the beginning of the end. The reign is over before it even has begun. Oldriod cradles his title, stroking the face of it and shining it up with his sleeve. Manson: Don’t listen to them, what do they know? Orion: Nothing! They know absolutely nothing! He can leave everybody at home, he can leave his Genocide stable in the back so that he has no excuses but first he has to beat me and that hasn’t happened for a long time. I might not have pinned his ass or made him tap out in that Championship Chamber but this week I’ve got the perfect opportunity to shut his hole and shut it for good. Manson: It will be a great day! Martyn defeats XK, who has been a thorn in the side of Bane Security and the boys themselves will take care of Ragin’. Add to the fact that Nightmare is going to do our bidding against Hutch with a leather strap, we have all the bases covered and my ‘Campaign for Pain’ will be in full swing. Manson beams at the mention of his ‘Campaign for Pain’, another proud concept from the twisted mind of the General Manager. Orion: Too bloody right it will be. Just because I haven’t beat Malicious before one-on-one doesn’t mean that I can’t. Jack Manson shakes his head in disagreement, prompting Oldriod to sit forward on his chair to listen more intently. Manson: He doesn’t know what he’s talking about anyway. You have beaten him before, not strictly one-on-one but a win nevertheless. Orion looks confused... Orion: Have I? When? Manson: Almost one year to the day I was preparing you for the biggest test of your life, ME! I called up Rising and I got them to send two heavy hitters to England. You fought both in a handicap match… Orion: Wait a minute, I remember now! Manson: It was Malicious and his old buddy Havok, their chance to show me something and things didn’t exactly go to plan. Watch this… Manson points to his television on the other side of the room and he clicks his remote. The screen lights up with a younger Orion Oldriod fending off the monster Marc Malicious.
Orion has stood up and is standing directly in front of the television set but with his hands on his hips. He turns slowly to Jack, another puzzled expression crosses his face. Orion: Jack? Manson: Yep? Orion: What the hell was that? Manson points to the screen and opens his eyes wide as Orion is still apprehensive. Manson: That was you beating Malicious and Havok, weren’t you paying attention? Orion: No, Jack. That was me beating Havok! Malicious was nowhere to be seen when I was making the cover. Manson: That isn’t the point… Orion: It’s exactly the point. He says I haven’t ever beat him and I haven’t. But that’s all going to change after this coming Thursday night. Believe that. Manson: I do believe it… They both nod in agreement, Orion then heads to the door after picking up a bag marked ‘wrestling gear’. <FADE OUT> |
