Our picture fades in on a normal looking locker room. Max Corona is seated on a bench, his bag to the left of him. Dressed in his ring attire, he begins lacing up his boots when a knock comes at the door. He looks up, giving a hard look at the door, as if trying to see through it to find out whether he wants to invite the guest in or not. He sighs, taking his chances. Max: Come in. Max returns to lacing up his boots as the sound of a door opening and closing is heard. A pair of baggy black pants step into the picture. Max eyes the pants before looking up to view his visitor. He sits up, the camera pulling back to reveal his tag team partner, Kennedy. Max: Yes? Kennedy: What's up, Max? Max looks around and just simply shrugs. Kennedy: I saw your interview earlier today. You think that I don't need you out there? Max: I'm just reacting to what I heard. Which didn't involve me. Kennedy: Really? Because I thought saying that I don't have to watch my back clarified how much I trusted you to have mine. So what gives? You wanted me to go in depth about you? I didn't need to. Maclay has been on your ass since he and I broke up. Hype's been on you since his debut. What was I supposed to say that they don't already know? Max: I suppose that you're right, and what you didn't say really didn't need to be said. I am sorry, it's just that having to rent a car and drive here dealing with the weather has some pent up frustration. Max gives a wink, breaking the tension that he caused with his comments earlier in the night. Kennedy just smirks, glad to have the misunderstanding behind them already. Kennedy: Good. Frustration is good. Because, Max, we both lost to Maclay and Hype. I do not want to give them the satisfaction of another win. They've used up all their chances. Max: I am concerned, still, are you 100%? I mean how's your ankle, and be honest with me, none of this "I'll deal," bull. Kennedy: Don't worry about me, Max. I mean, you know how much I wanted to be out there for your match against Hype. I knew Maclay was gonna stick his nose into that. It was so obvious. But I wasn't out there because I was resting up. I knew I'd get another shot at Carlos. And I was gonna make damn sure I didn't have a weakness for him to pick on. And I don't. I am honestly 100% and Carlos is gonna feel that tonight. Max smiles at Kennedy's confidence, in an attempt to muster up some of his own, and it's hard for Max since he hasn't had a win since Rebirth. Max: I am glad that someone here has some confidence. Honestly, I don't know how well I will do. Kennedy flashes Max a supportive smile, knowing that his lack of wins lately has him doubting himself. Kennedy: You'll do great, Max. And come on, at least you can remember your last win. Kennedy winks at Max, still trying to figure out the last time she won a match. Max: Sorry that was selfish of me, could you find it in your heart to forgive me? Kennedy: No forgiveness necessary. We're good. Max: Look on the bright side, we have the advantage here. Kennedy raises an eyebrow, her interest piqued. Max: The way I see it, Hype and Maclay will self-destruct, they hate each other, and you and I, well you know. Kennedy: Have been rustling the sheets? This time it's Max who raises the infamous eyebrow in confusion, prompting a laugh from Kennedy. Kennedy: Well, in Chris' mind, which is another point in our favor. Max lets out a slight chuckle, innuendos are cool. Max: As long as we know the truth, we shouldn't be effected by the rumor patrol. I mean, yeah I care about your well being and all, it's just that I have a crush-- Kennedy takes a step back, raising her eyebrow as if to say "I thought we discussed this." Max: Oh relax, it's not you, it's well I shouldn't say, but you know her though. Kennedy: Kailey Lane? Max: No, that is in the past. I haven't heard from her in ages. Kennedy: Well, this would be the part where I tell you I don't have many girlfriends. Let alone friends, period. You're pretty much topping the list of one, Max. Max: I didn't say that she was your friend, and I am honored. Kennedy: Oh, I know who it is Mi-- Max: Shhh. I don't think anything will come of it though, it would become awkward. Kennedy: Plus I don't think she is the crush type. She's not like me. That last comment throws Max for a second, his brow furrowing for a second before looking up at Kennedy. Kennedy: But, I'll let you finish getting ready here. I've got a few things to take care of before our match. So I'll just see you out there. I'd wish you luck, but we don't need it. And with that, Kennedy disappears from the locker room, off to do whatever it is she has to do. Max: "She's not like me." What did that mean? The scene fades on Max looking more confused than ever. |
