Sam gets serious

Scene fades in on Sam’s locker room, we can always tell when we are here because of the black cloth on the walls, and all the candles around the room. None of them are lit, but there is what seems like a desk lamp behind Sam casing a yellowish glow in the small room. She is sitting in her papasan, like she normally is when in her locker room.

Sam: Samael, you have asked me to be serious…you keep wondering why I’m making such a joke of our match.

Sam wiggles around in the chair, trying to get comfortable.

Sam: The problem is that our match is a joke; you are a joke. All I hear from you is how you held this title…

Sam gets up and pulls the title off a nearby stand and puts it on her shoulder.

Sam: … longer than anyone else. I’m confused as to why this is something to be proud of…Do you even know what title this is?! It’s the Openweight…the Openweight title…It’s nothing to be proud of really, all this means is that I’m the best of the worst.

Sam tosses the title behind her and we hear it clang to the floor.

Sam: Do you know what being the person to hold this title the longest means? It means you are good enough to have the honor of a title, but not good enough to move up. It means you’re stuck here, down here…with the newcomers, and the people who are not good enough to move up or to even hold this title. It means, you’re only slightly better than Torrie…who couldn’t beat up my Grandma.

Sam sighs and takes her seat again.

Sam: Oh, and thank you so much for mentioning so many times how I’ve beat you before. You saved me from having to say it myself. I did think it amusing that I’m going to lose to you this time just because no one else has ever beat you twice. You have wonderful logic…

Sam stands and moves toward the door, then opens it.

Sam: Now, leave. I’m done pretending like this is a serious match.

Fade.
