"To the Fighting Spirit Championship!" Johnny raises his latest shot with a huge smile on his face and waits patiently for Brittany sitting across from him at their table. She puts a smile on and raises her glass of Coke to clink their glasses together. Johnny downs the shot while Brittany sets her glass back on the table. "You might want to slow down on those?" "Why? I just won a match tonight - awesome. I've got a Fighting Spirit contendership match next week - nice! What's wrong with a little celebrating?" "I'm just saying, you might want to focus more on getting ready for that contendership match than getting wasted." Johnny makes the pfft noise as he waves a hand in Brittany's direction. "I don't see you getting ready for your match with Terri." Brittany rolls her eyes at the very thought of woman. "Because I'm not having a match with Terri. I am, however, placed in a tag team match that happens to involve her. It's the most she's getting out of me." Johnny shrugs his shoulders and switches from his empty shot glass to his bottle of beer still sitting on the table. "I'm far more concerned with Mark Cannon being in the match. Things with him lately have been... well, I don't need to explain to you the weirdness that is Mark." Johnny goes rigid at the mention of Mark's name and he does his best to shake it off before taking another long drink of his beer. "You know, it might not be a bad idea for you to come to ringside with me this week, especially if you win the fatal four-way. I mean, have you been paying attention to Mark in the ring lately? After that cheap stunt he pulled on you to win the Fighting Spirit Championship, who knows what to expect from him?" Johnny shrugs his shoulders and does his best to look uninterested in the conversation as a whole. His eyes wander the bar, looking for what we don't know. "Either way, it wouldn't be the worst idea to get a front row seat to what he's capable of." "Yeah. Whatever." He takes the last swig from his beer bottle and catches the eye of the bartender to signal for another one. It only takes a moment for a waitress to deliver the bottle from the bar to the table the siblings sit at. "Have you talked to Cody yet?" Johnny shakes his head, removes the bottle cap from the beer, and starts in on the next one. "I can't even begin to imagine what's going through his head after talking to Mark. I mean, that poster of you guys was just... so creepy." "Stop acting like you weren't ogling Cody in it." Johnny shakes his head again, this time in disgust, and takes another drink of the beer. "Ogling is a very extreme word. Appreciating the artistry is more along the lines of... you know what? Forget about it. The poster is gone. It doesn't even matter. But you should really talk to Cody about it. I mean, you guys are friends, aren't you?" Johnny shrugs his shoulders in the most uninterested way possible. "I don't know. Are we? I thought Mark and I were friends but... he's an asshole. Forget about it." He takes another drink, a very long drink. "Okay, but Cody isn't. I thought you guys were going to watch each other's backs." A thought occurs to Brittany. It's not a pretty thought. "That saying has a totally different meaning in my head now..." She shivers at the thought and tries to purge it from her memory with a drink of Coke. "The point is, things went bad with Mark but they don't have to with Cody. He's a nice guy. I think you should at least go talk to him." Johnny shrugs his shoulders again, but this time he looks a little more interested in the idea. "I don't know. We'll see. Let's order some dinner or something." Brittany nods, feeling a little more optimistic about Johnny's friendship with Cody not being destroyed by Mark Cannon. "Okay. Dinner's on me to celebrate your Fighting Spirit contendership opportunity. To the Fighting Spirit Championship!" Brittany has a huge grin on her face as she raises her glass of Coke. Johnny eyes go from the drink to Brittany with a "really?" expression in place. Eventually he cracks a small smile and raises his beer bottle to touch her glass. |
