Johnny Amazing makes his way into one of the nicer clubs in town. He scans the crowd and when he finds what he's looking for, it's not a happy expression that crosses his face. Johnny sighs and shakes his head before making his way through the crowd to drop down onto a stool at the bar right next to a man dressed in a fancy suit and carrying around a gold-plated belt with him.

Johnny: "Mark Cannon."

The name is muttered almost with a hint of bitterness and Johnny glances towards his former friend and current Fighting Spirit Champion. Fortunately, it appears as if Johnny caught Mark not long into this club visit. Meaning, Mark isn't completely drunk off his ass. He's a little drunk because I'm sure he showed up drunk. But it doesn't look like Mark has gotten his first drop of poison from his particular establishment yet. Hopefully that's a good thing for Johnny.

Johnny: "How you been, pal?"

What a friendly greeting... said with almost no friendly tone whatsoever. Mark turns to him and flashes a genuine smile at seeing Johnny which he tries to suppress.

Cannon: Johnny! Hi...

He wipes the smile away and acts disaffected.

Cannon: Want me to buy you a drink? You can barely afford the stool you're sitting on. Even I like to give to charity every now and then.

Johnny... laughs. Yep, he actually chuckles as if he and Mark are good buddies and the joke isn't an insult at all.

Johnny: "That's funny, man. Real funny because I'm actually here to give you something. A gift."

Cannon smiles and spins around on the barstool. For a moment he becomes something like his old self.

Cannon: For me!? See, I knew you'd get it Johnny. Why I did what I did.

He puts is hand on Johnny's shoulder and leans in. He's smiling ear to ear.

Cannon: So what is it?

There's a slight hesitation from Johnny as Mark is actually being friendly and reminding us of the man he used to be. In the end, though, it's just a reminder of who he's not anymore. So Johnny reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out the gold chain that Quincy Wilson gifted him with "Amazing" written in gold. Johnny lays the bling on the counter in front of Mark without a word.

Mark stares at the bling, his worst fears confirmed. He drowns his drink and sets it back down on the bar. He places his belt down next to the bling.

He leaps up, shoving Johnny from his stool.

Cannon: You think you're better than me, Johnny!? You think you can impress me? Take a shot at me and we'll see who leaves this bar standing.

Mark motions for Johnny to come at him.

Cannon: Because you may've been his first choice, but that was before I came along. That was before I showed Quincy I was more than some faggot loser. You hold onto that, Johnny. Make-believe that you're better than me. Because we both know that if you somehow become #1 Contender that I would destroy you.

Mark sticks out his chin, daring Johnny to throw a punch.

Cannon: I'll take down your sister and that Sakura Bitch. All you'll be able to do is watch and think of what you gave up.

He wipes something from his eye and puts his fists up.

Cannon: Show me what you got, Amazing.

Johnny holds his hands up, looking far too chill for someone who was just shoved and is now being provoked into a fight.

Johnny: "I'm not here to fight, Mark. I'm really just here to give that to you. Because you're far more Amazing than me right now."

He holds his hands up a little higher and looks back at Mark with the most innocent face the young man can possibly muster. He motions to the bar stools as if asking if they can go back to sitting together.

Mark lowers his fist. He doesn't know how to respond. He retakes his seat at the bar. He almost chokes on the words:

Cannon: Haven't you already done enough....what do you want from me?

Johnny doesn't take his seat, even though he was the one who wanted to do so. Instead, he shrugs his shoulders at Mark's question.

Johnny: "A hug would be nice. I mean, I did just give you a very expensive gift and everything. I didn't buy it, of course, but it's the point of the matter."

He shrugs his shoulders again and holds his arms up somewhat, almost looking hopeful of a hug. It's a bit surreal, to be honest, but that's what's happening. A thousand thoughts flash through Mark's mind. He rushes forward and hugs Johnny. He holds him in tight.

Cannon: I missed you.Why don't you join the Summit. I'm sure Quincy would love to have you. I can talk to him. Come on, you know we'd be unstopabble.

Mark's words make Johnny hesitate for a moment, but eventually he returns the hug. A rush of Johnny's breath washes over Mark's ear before Johnny speaks very quietly to him.

Johnny: "Because I can't stomach what you've become."

Mark's instincts tell him to pull away but Johnny makes sure he isn't going anywhere with a tight grip on the back of Mark's neck. He's got Mark's ear, almost quite literally. He continues to speak in a low tone. It's a tone that almost doesn't sound like Johnny anymore. It's cold and a tad threatening.

Johnny: "You are amazing, Mark. The things you'll say and do to the people that care about you just for a piece of gold amazes me. Well, you've got your gold now."

He's referring to the gold chain with "Amazing" written on it, for the record. It might be confusing because Mark also has the FSC, but...

Johnny: "I hope that's enough for you. Because I'm going to win this week and then I'm coming for you. I'm glad you haven't forgotten that I was always Quincy's first choice. You're gonna learn why I'll always be who he really want."

Johnny finally releases his grip on Mark, but he doesn't go so far as to be the one to break their embrace. That's Mark's job. He breaks away, not letting Johnny see any hurt on his face.

Cannon: You f*****g straight boys are all the same. Fine. Win your match. Come for my belt.

The smile returns.

Cannon: But don't kid yourself into thinking you can beat me. Here.

He shoves the bling back to Johnny's face.

Cannon: Hold on to the illusion that you were first choice. Because in the end, you know I'll win. Have you heard of that, Johnny? Winning? It's when you get your opponent down for the 1..2..3...But you'd know more about being on your back than being on top.

Johnny takes the chain back and has a laugh. Yeah, he has the nerve to laugh in this situation right now.

Johnny: "Yeah. I don't know if you saw me last week, but I'm starting to get the hang of it."

He chuckles a bit more, not too concerned with whether or not Mark bothered to watch him.

Johnny: "I can't wait to see how good I've gotten by the time we meet for that belt."

Johnny shrugs his shoulders and re-pockets the gold chain inside his jacket.

Johnny: "I gotta run. I'm meeting my friend Cody for some training. We're gonna be getting sweaty."

He waggles his eyebrows during that last statement, teasing Mark over the poster that haunts nearly everyone's nightmares.

Johnny: "It was nice seeing you again, Mark. You're looking good all Quincified."

Johnny gives Mark's suit a once over and turns to take his leave. Mark's face goes red with jealousy.

Cannon: You...you...YOU'LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO! Go and train with Cody. See what good it'll do. I'm Mark F*****g Cannon. I'm the God of FIW. I'm the Fighting Spirit Champion. I'm......I'm....I'm-

Johnny: "Just a runner-up, Mark."

Johnny spins around, finishes Mark's sentence (with an ending that I'm confident was not going to come out Mark's mouth), and offers him a dazzling smile.

Johnny: "I'm Amazing and you're just... alone."

That dazzling smile falters and falls off his face during that hesitation before his final word. He shrugs his shoulders and actually likes a tad apologetic before turning back around and walking out of the bar.
