Scene, and we're...welll...I don't know where we are. The room seems to be completely featureless except for a couple of hard working fog machines spraying smoke all over the floor. Suddenly we hear a terrible jingling, and a heavy chain comes flying out of the darkness. Attached to that chain, slowly lurching towards us like he just rose from the grave is one Fighting Spirit Champion, Erik Holland, the belt positioned on his shoulder as he addresses the camera. With bulging eyes that seem even bigger because of the heavy black paint, he gets real close to the camera, enough that we can see the dog collar attached to his neck and attached to the chain. I guess he's getting used to it early. Scott... Ya' wanna know why I picked the dog collar match? Why I decided you and I need to suffer for this? Erik shows the FSC to the camera before putting it back on his arm. It isn't because I'm a sucker for violence. It isn't because I compete better when the thought of being personally and professionally crippled is held above my head like the proverbial blade of Damocles. It isn't because there's a buzzing, deep in the back of my skull...not just my skull, I can feel it in my lungs, in my THROAT..that I need, NEED to take this and lay your fucking face open with it.. Erik now shakes the chain at the camera and then wraps it around his arm lengthwise. Because as much as I'm sure you're lookin' forward to the pain, and to the agony that this match no doubt guarantees you, I don't think you understand how necessary it is. I don't think you respect pain, Scott. And because you don't respect it, you haven't mastered it, you don't BELIEVE IN IT and because you do not believe in it, it is going to tear you down. I associate pain with reward. I'm not trying to sound hard, I'm not trying to be scary...THISSSS time...but I associate PAIN with reward. Nothing good comes to you in your life unless you've dealt with a little pain, a little agony to get there. Because people who have never hurt? People who have gone through their lives pink, fluffy and happy without a care in the world, everything handed to them? They don't get it. They don't get US. Because they've always had it easy. They've always had an outlet. They've always had someway, somehow, to get it all OUT. Not me. I had to suffer. I had to bleed. I had to strain and grit my fucking teeth to live through it and on the other side... Erik now addresses the FSC on his arm, grabbing it with his free hand to look at it. On the other side, I get shown that sometimes the pain is worth it. Contrary to belief, Scott, I don' like getting hurt. What I do in the ring, what I did to you last week, specifically; That wasn't just to help Mistress Lovecraft get her rocks off. I knew I was gonna hurt, I knew I was gonna ache if I wanted to put an athlete like you DOWN...and I did it. An' instead of tucking your tail, walking to the back and living to fight another day, Knight, what do you do? You fucking jump me. From behind. You throw me into the steps. Because you want THIS? He shakes the belt at the screen now and then drops the championship down in front of him, faceplate facing up. Ask and you shall receive, Scott, ASK...and you shall receive! You're gonna GET a shot at this title but you know what ELSE you're gonna' get? Hahahahaha...this. This chain that we're gonna be hooked at the neck to, it's gonna strap across your flesh, it's going to be in your mouth, raked across your eyes, whatever I feel like doin' to you I can DO it. Because I respect the PAIN that comes with this dog collar match, Scott, and after Rise of a Legend...yeah. You will too... Erik picks the belt up now, wandering off-camera as we hear the heavy chain sliding on the floor behind him. The last shot we see before we fade, is the chain seemingly being swallowed by the darkness. |
