The Great Salt Lake spreads itself before us. White fluffy clouds take their lazy time crossing the sky on the slow moving winds. A rumble sounds from the right and we look in that direction. We can make out a black dot through the haze that wavers over the hot ground. It seems to be growing in size proportionately to the sound of the rumble. As we stand in the heat, we realize that what is heading out way is a car, moving incredibly fast, unsafely fast. The closer it gets, the louder the engine becomes and the more threatened we feel. It doesn't seem to be slowing down and it is moving so fast that it seems impossible that it can stop in time not to hit us. But it does. The car skids to a stop mere feet from us and Kailey Lane climbs out of her Camero wearing a thrilled grin. She leans back against the driver's door and sticks her hands in her pocket nonchalantly, as if she hadn't just almost run over someone. A troubling smirk crosses her face as she sees our reaction, rather as if she is pleased with herself. She clucks her tongue and shakes her head, then lifts a smiling face and begins to speak. Kailey Seasoned. That word has two conotations, two meanings, if you will. You can add spices to a dish and make it well seasoned or you can become seasoned by working hard and learning your craft. Both work in this instance. Kailey looks passed us at some non-existant something, then looks back our way. Kailey You see, I have been here quite a while. I have been through a lot of things, worked hard and learned a lot over the years. Oh sure, I took some time off. Nearly a year, in fact. But just like most of the titles have been RIPPED from me, that wasn't my fault. None of it had anything to do with how well I wrestled in the ring, nor how well I comported myself. The fact that I was a fan favorite... She raises and eyebrow and gives us a shrug. Kailey ... at the time, and that my name on the marquee would draw a crowd didn't come into play either. She lifts off of the car's metal and takes a step closer, her eyes straying from the lens for a moment and she sighs lightly as if resolving herself to something. Kailey No, dear fans, much of what has happened to me since I entered this crazy world of Full Intensity Wrestling has had less to do with my abilities and more to do with what suited everyone else. See, I used to play well with others. It was well known in the company that if someone needed help with an angle, or maybe a face to make them look meaner, I was the "go to" girl. You know something? Having said that outloud it makes sense that I lost nearly every title. I was in it for the general good. Whatever it took to make someone ELSE look good. I was too nice. But it is that very thing that makes me a seasoned wrestler. I have been there. I have done that. I have the Fast Lane t-shirt to prove it. I have catered to everyone, bent over backwards to be nice to the fans, always put my best foot forward... Her eyes stray again from the lens and she blinks quickly. Kailey ...And what do I get for it? Fans booing me. The upper card scoffing at my abilities. And all because I helped others to shine and didn't think to polish myself, to make myself look good. Everyone thinks they know Kailey Lane and her story. People believe they have a handle on what makes me tick. Kailey seems to forget about the camera now as her voice takes on a different tone. Not mocking, really. More ... bossy. Even her stance changes a bit with her shoulders raised like a cat ready to fight. Kailey "Oh, she's bad because of Kennedy. No, she's bad because of Ragin'." Her body stays in that unnatural stance for a moment longer and then she shrugs. Kailey It's no wonder that the Powers That Be seem to be having trouble figuring out just where to put me in the card. They aren't sure where I fit in. I don't fit into any particular spot, no specific niche, no clear position on any card. Ah, I can just see our Illustrious Leader now... Kailey's body goes rigid, and her hands stiffen in an almost robotic fashion. We soon figure out why. Kailey Hmmm, let us see.. kssssssshhh... where to put Kailey this week... kssssssh. She can wrestle.. kssssssh... she is a martial artkssssssssssssh pro...the fans do not know whether to cheer or to hissssssskh.... She smiles softly at us, her eyes bright even in the damning heat. Kailey The point is, either one means people are paying attention. And my wrestling style? Just makes the matches more seasoned... adds a little spice. So though you may not like me anymore, though you may wish for the sweet and nice version of Kailey, she isn't coming back. This world I am in is a crazy one. It is a world where lies are taken as truth, and truth.. well truth has no place here. Took me too long to figure that out but, now I see things oh so clearly. Hindsight does that. I know now that I put my faith in the wrong people. I lost myself to them. Trusted them to keep the momentum going when in reality, they were only in it for themselves. Kailey looks away for a second as she purses her lips together and nods silently. Slowly, she raises her eyes to the camera's lens. Kailey So thank you, Krahe, sincerely. I fully intend on using this chance you have given me to shake a few people awake, seasoned and unseasoned wrestlers alike! I'm gonna add some flavor to mix. Spice things up. Kailey's eyebrows raise as the smirk we are all growing to dread spreads across her face. Kailey And when the smoke clears and I am the last one standing, you'll come to the same conclusion that I have... I AM the seasoning that makes Full Intensity sizzle! |
