Our camera's eye opens up on a wicked-bad bonfire. Dancing around it and singing songs to the tune of pipes and drums are several skyclad individuals with body paint and beads the only thing adorning their forms. Unfortunately, this is cable TV, so everything good is blurred out. Ah well. We pan left and there's Graver, observing the ritual before shaking his head. Graver: Hey, Shaun. Huh. Either Graver got Shaun Wilson to be his cameraman for the night or he's addressing them specifically. Not often sane wrestlers do that in promos... oh... wait. Graver: I spent all week trying to figure out which African-American stereotype would offend you more; if I said that the only reason you'd be the first black Flycore champ is because NGIW was full of ghosts and if modern cinema has told me anything it's that black people HATE ghosts... ... or if I said my plan this week was to surround the ring with TVs and expensive brand-name tennis shoes so you'd be so busy stealing them that you wouldn't notice when I beat your ass and won. Graver shrugs. Graver: In the end I decided to address you seriously and professionally... well... as professional as I get. He sort of rolls his eyes at his own poor attitude toward... eh... everything. Graver: I'll keep this succinct, kid. You seem to be doing really well for yourself. You pinned a guy who likes to think he's a vampire while two able-bodied wrestlers were keeping the rest of the team at bay. Good job for you. You've been a bigger hit with the fans in recent weeks than you have since the start of your career. But does this mean you've suddenly sprouted the skill to take out a man who's faced and defeated former Dual Crown champions? Does this mean you're suddenly on par with the man who's gone toe to toe with some of the baddest, sickest, most diabolical figures FIW has seen pass through it's halls... Onikage, the Savior... Dante Coles, NGIW's King of Hell... Momoko Wakari, the pink-haired, sickle-wielding demon... and LIVED to tell the tale? Graver shrugs. Graver: No. No it doesn't. I'll open your eyes Wednesday, Shaun. Then maybe you'll see the truth for what it is... go back to the minor leagues, and get yourself some practice. Graver turns back to the ritual as our cameras pull back and we fade. |
