“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!”

The ear-piercing screams shatter the scene into action. We open on a room that is very white, unnaturally so. It is a room within an unknown hospital, but was assume is one very close to the host-city of this past week’s show for reasons that will be obvious later. The room is filled with peculiarly bright light, with no corner on crevice being able to hide from a source of light. Many metal objects gleam, reflecting the light as the camera slowly pans around the room.

Towards one corner of the room [but not right against the wall as there are cabinets, drawers, et cetera] is a high table, upon which is the body of one Liam Mortell. A stark contrast to the brightness, serenity, and cleanliness of the hospital room, Liam is sorely red, breathing very heavily and dripping with sweat. By the look on his face he is experiencing a very large amount of pain. He left hand opens and closes, and his teeth are clenched in an effort to try and mentally control the amount of pain signals reaching his brain. Sitting to his right, on a tall chair, is a man in a white coat. There is a name on the left breast pocket which we can’t quite make out at this distance, but it is safe to assume that the man is a doctor. His hair is white, much like the room, and he looks to be in his late 50’s or very early 60’s. A nurse standing behind him passes him some gloves, which he snaps on over his hands. The nurse herself is very plain looking, mid-length blonde hair and nothing notable about her facial features. This ensures that Liam is the odd one out in this room, like he’s not meant to be there for whatever reason.

The doctor turns to the nurse and mumbles some instructions inaudibly. She turns and begins to carry out the instructions, then turns her head back momentarily.

Nurse: “What dosage?”

She says, in a thoroughly plain way.

Doctor: “The usual.”

Liam: “What’s….going…on?”

He says between deep breaths, still trying to control the pain coming from his shoulder, the pain that is begging him to scream at the top of his lungs. Liam knows, though, that he must control the urge. Being able to mentally overcome the pain has helped him in the past.

Doctor: “We’re going to give you a small injection to get rid of the pain, OK?”

Liam: “Oh…great!”

Liam’s tone and eyes show that he is less the happy at the prospect of receiving an injection; much less one in his already painful shoulder region, but it seems stupid to argue with a doctor. It is too late to argue now anyway as the nurse has prepared the injection and is holding it out for the doctor. Isn’t it strange how needles always seem much larger when you’re about to be in the receiving end of one? The doctor places Liam’s right forearm over his stomach and then carefully takes the syringe from the nurse and doing the usual checks. The doctor carefully places his left hand on Liam’s shoulder and slowly lowers the syringe into position.

Doctor: “You’re going to feel a slight scratch…”

Liam: “OHSHII…UGARPLUMFAIRY.”

Liam semi-yells through gritted teeth. It’s clear from that, and his bulging eyes that he and the doctor have varying definitions for the term ‘slight scratch.’ The doctor’s pushes his chair away from the examination table and spins around to the preparation area, placing the used pain killer down. After snapping off the gloves and binning them, he grabs a file which is also open on the work area and jots down a few notes before snapping the folder shut. He stands up off of the chair and holds the folder under his right arm.

Doctor: “Right, Mr. Mortell, I don’t think there is much more that we can do for you, but my recommendation is that you rest up for a couple of weeks, keep of the exercise and try and keep that arm up so you don’t put any pressure on your shoulder.”

Liam: “But I’ll have a maaAAARRRGH!”

Liam, momentarily forgetting his injured shoulder had used it prop himself up. He falls back, lying flat on the examination table. The nurse rushes forward to put his arm in a more comfortable position.

Doctor: “Please, be careful, the pain killer won’t have taken full effect yet. I understand that you’re eager to get back in the ring, Mr. Mortell; however I cannot recommend this by any means. Your shoulder is in a fragile state at the moment and you must rest it in order for it to return to full health.”

Liam: “But I…”

Doctor: “Look, I’ll tell you what I’ll do, I’ll send out Nurse Jane to find out if you have a match this week and, if you have one, who it is against, does that sound fair?”

Liam simply nods his head, to which the doctor gestures to Nurse Jane. She quickly leaves the room. The door shuts behind her leaving the doctor and Liam in complete silence. There is an awkward silence between the two, neither is speaking. It’s quite strange, and not what is normally expected in the ‘patient-doctor’ relationship. Thankfully for both men, Nurse Jane returns quickly…far too quickly for a phone call to have taken place. Both men look are her expectantly.

Nurse Jane: “You’re match this week is for your title and is an…ultimate endurance match against Day…sooke Tanana?”

Liam: “Daisuke Tanaka?”

Nurse Jane: “Yeah, that’s the one.”

Liam raises an eyebrow inquisitively. He doesn’t seem quite sure how to take this news. The doctor walks towards Liam, but before he can speak again the nurse interrupts.

Nurse Jane: “Oh and Dr. Robinson, a Herman Cardgage has asked if he could speak to Mr. Mortell…and I told him that..”

Dr. Robinson: “Jane, go and tell Mr. Cardgage to leave Mr. Mortell alone and to interview someone else.”

She quickly exits, sensing the tone in the doctor’s voice is not a happy one.

Dr. Robinson: “Now, I can’t keep you here but I do know what’s best for you. However you’ve never been concerned with what is best for you, have you Liam?…I mean Mr. Mortell.”

Liam gives Dr. Robinson an evil glare, and the two stare at each other, neither seemingly wanting to break the staring game, as if the first person to look away has something to loose. The ‘game’ is only broken when the nurse re-enters. She looks around awkwardly between the two before shuffling over to the preparation area she was using earlier.

Dr. Robinson: “We’ll bandage your shoulder up a bit and give you a sling to keep the pressure off you’re shoulder. After you spend tonight in our care, we’ll let you go. If you decide to wrestle..”

Liam: “Oh, I will be!”

Liam says, rather defiantly.

Dr. Robinson: “Then it’s on your own head.”

And with this we fade away. Ending are rather bizarre scene.
