It's early morning in Tony's club and like every early morning, there isn't a sole to be seen. Except for maybe Tony, a few of the girls, and Roxie who sits in front of the stage reading a book. What's this? Roxie? Reading? To some it might come as a shock, to others...it won't. But she seems very into her current read as her left foot rests on the stage in a casual manner. Biting the tip of her thumb nail, Roxie looks over each word as if trying to find some kind of hidden meaning. Tony finishes his business with the girls and now walks toward Roxie who flips a page. Tony stands there silently looking over her shoulder toward the book. To Tony, it comes as a shock. "'Franklin is messy'?" Roxie breifly looks over her shoulder before looking back at her book which is indeed; Franklin is messy. Currently, Franklin the turtle is explaining to both Bear and Beaver about his missing cardboard sword and how he can't play. Roxie flips to the next page after finished reading about Franklin's problems. Now Beaver displays her prowess for whatever reason. "Yea, both Felix and Steve were talking in some way that sounded familiar. I thought it was from a book I recently read so I decided to check them all. This one looks like it might be it I'm not sure," Roxie re positions herself in the chair switching her posture over to the other side, "I still have a ways to go but I know it's here." Not sure what, or who, Roxie is talking about Tony looks toward the book for a moment as Roxie seems to struggle valiantly through the 'paragraph'. Finally, Roxie gives up and places the thirty page book aside taking a deep breath. "Whew, I'm beat. I'll have to finish it up later." Roxie rises up from her chair and heads over toward the bar where Kat sits rolling a half full bottle across the top between her hands admiring the sight with each gentle push. Roxie looks in her direction for a moment before turning around leaning both elbows on the bar. "You know, this past week has really taught me something. One, I'm far more greater than Jaime. It's like twice in two months she's taken a week off due to injuries and I've been going nonstop for the longest time. I think that entitles me to a shot at her belt, don't you think?" Roxie turns her head toward Kat who is now eye level with the bar watching curiously as the bottle slowly rolls along the top of the bar waiting anxiously for something to happen. Roxie seems to find some sort of a response in this as she pushes herself away from the bar satisfied and walks back toward her pile of books by the stage. Franklin is messy, 40 below, A day at the zoo, and the book that left Roxie in a state of puzzlement; Why can't I fly? Perhaps it wasn't the book as much as it was the torn page at the end of the book. Roxie flips through the pages a little until she finally shrugs and places it down with the others. From behind her walks a figure who remains behind her for a few moments until Roxie finally takes notice of him. Turning, she comes face to face with her brother Louie who holds an envelope in his hand. Roxie takes a few moments toexamine the envelope as Louie holds it up in between them. They stand there for a moment, then a while until Louie finally grasps Roxies hand and raises it up before planting the envelope in it. That done, Louie turns and walks away leaving Roxie to turn the envelope over. The markings are quite unfamiliar to her. Mainly because to her it's just a scribble. Roxie opens it up and starts to read. Well, attempts to. It's rather small writing and hand written too. Finished, Roxie looks away from the note and toward where Louie is. "Is that what they want? I thought they were just being nice." That's when Tony takes his cue and approaches Roxie taking hold of the note to glance over it himself. Why? Maybe because it's open, maybe it's just a reflex, who knows? It does concern one of his girls so he might be curious in just what someone else wants with them. However, Tony doesn't stare at it long enough to get a full readout on it. "So, Roxie, how are you feeling? You took it pretty hard last week." "Huh? Oh, yea. You know Jaime had no right butting in. What was she trying to pull anyway? All she did was stand there. How stupid is that?" "No, about your neck and all. Are you actually alright to compete? Because if not, you don't have to work her ei--" "I'm fine. I'm not gonna wimp out like Jaime and ask for a week off. In that aspect, I have to remain better than her. I took more of an assault from that woman and I'm still willing to compete the next week. Jaime wasn't. She sissied out. So no way am I gonna walk out of this week and let her know we're equal on one thing." Tony doesn't seem so sure about that, but a reassuring smile from Roxie...still doesn't make him feel comfortable about knowing Roxie is willing to compete. "It's a rivalry, that means I have to be better than her at everything. Now all she has to do is lose to Mr. Hype woman hater, and that'll be two things I'm better than her at." Feeling confident in her abilities, Roxie rests back down on the chair and reaches down to grab hold of Franklin is messy. Rubbing the back of her neck briefly, Roxie opens the book back up to the same page she left off on. The defiant beaver standing proud and tall against calls of her feminine nature. |
