This set looks familiar. And it should, seeing as it’s the generic interview set-up for Gunnar Leland to do his all-important sit-down interviews. Or at least, that’s what I’ve been told. The man in question sits patiently in the chair to the right, glancing over his notes in his lap. He’s interrupted rather abruptly by the arrival of his guest tonight-- Kennedy. The Leading Lady of FIW steps into the scene, a polite smile on her face as Gunnar stands for her arrival. He shakes Kennedy’s hand and waits for her to take a seat before reclaiming his own. Perhaps he thought she wanted the right-sided chair? Or maybe he was just being a gentleman. Probably the latter. Gunnar: Kennedy, thanks for meeting with me today. There’s a lot that the FIW fans would like to know. So, I hope we can answer some of those questions today. Kennedy: I’ll bet you do. The tinge of bitterness in Kennedy’s voice brings a hesitation to Gunnar. Apparently he was expecting Kennedy a different kind of Kennedy. Perhaps the cheery and fan-hugging one that she was so many years ago. Has he even kept up with her? Gunnar: Uh… first up is your job as the special guest referee this past week in the Prime versus Hutch encounter. You’ve received a fair amount of praise for the job you did, despite the inexperience. However, you’ve received an equal amount of criticism as well. Care to discuss that? Kennedy leans back in her hair, both elbows draped across the arm rest as she gives a half-hearted shrug to his question. Kennedy: It’s like this, Gunnar. I had a job to do. I did it to the best of my abilities. I don’t see anywhere that I made any mistakes and if anyone wants to debate that, they know where to find me. Gunnar: Perhaps the biggest voice in the criticism is Hutch himself. He claims that since he had gotten to the ropes, Prime’s full nelson submission should have been released. Especially considering how you physically halted his use of the ropes earlier in the match. Kennedy nods her head to all of Gunnar’s words, as if to say “yeah, yeah, yeah” to everything he brings up. Kennedy: It’s true. I did physically stop Hutch from using the ropes… during a pin attempt. However, the rules were no holds barred. And just like I allowed Hutch’s blatant choke to pass, the ropes did not constitute a break with Prime’s full nelson. Gunnar: What about your thoughts on Prime and the miscued lariat that took you out of the match for a few moments? That’s not the first time his miscalculation ended badly for you. Kennedy purses her lips together in an annoyed manner that tells Gunnar he took the discussion exactly where she expected, yet didn’t want to go. Kennedy: Yeah, Gunnar! Let’s talk about that. Kennedy and Prime, the hot topic of the moment, right? Let’s get it on the front page, why don’t we? And you… you can be the one credited for getting the scoop. Won’t that be fantastic? Kennedy’s enthusiasm is both heavily sarcastic and unsettling to Gunnar. He goes completely quiet, tucking his tail and lowering his gaze to his notes like any good professional that loses control of their interview. Kennedy: The topic of me and Prime in this context is not something I feel comfortable discussing. So I would very much appreciate it if you would respect that and move on, Gunnar. Okay? Gunnar clears his throat and swallows before raising his head with a simple nod. Gunnar: I understand. It’s just, everyone has been wondering and I just thought-- Kennedy: You thought what? You’d be prod and pry until you got the big reveal? You thought that since Prime wouldn’t give you any answers you’d try with me? Is this interview even going to discuss my match with Nightmare this week? Or are we just going to dance this little dance till you get what you want? Gunnar once again takes a silent stance as Kennedy goes on an enraged warpath over his interviewing tactics. He takes a deep breath and tries one more time. Gunnar: Yes, I was getting to your match this week. I was just hoping we could clear up the mystery of the crucifix you’ve been carrying around since Halloween. We all know that Prime was given a crucifix from his dearly departed mentor Max Midas. I assume you’ve taken this into account and that’s why… Gunnar trails off when he dares a glance up towards Kennedy and sees the look in her eyes. She stares at him with a mixture of shock, annoyance and rage in her green eyes. Kennedy: Are you even listening to me? Is anything I’m saying being processed right now? Gunnar, need I remind you that the man who had this very position prior to you was fired… because of me. Kennedy points to her own self as if that’ll help Gunnar understand it better. After all, it seems he’s having problems comprehending anything she says. Kennedy: Now if you don’t mind, there are things that I do not wish to discuss. You can respect that, or you can continue to push my buttons until you find the one that ejects you. Gunnar nods his head again, nearly sighing with disappointment when he finally comes to the realization that he’s getting nothing out of Kennedy. Gunnar: Very well. Nightmare this week. Your thoughts? Kennedy shakes her head and leans back in her seat again with a sigh of her own. Nothing worse that someone not listening to you and then getting bitchy when you get upset at them. I hate that. Kennedy: Yeah. Nightmare. Not a whole lot to say. He’s on a bit of a losing steak. He… that’s about all I’ve got on him at the moment. Aside from the fact I’ve beaten him once already, I don’t think he’s holding a grudge unless he’s following the cliché of serving his revenge in a cold dish. Gunnar nods to all of Kennedy words but it’s very apparent he’s not interested in the least bit. I’m gonna guess the majority of his questions had to do with Kennedy and Prime. And after her reaction to that topic, he’s had to throw most of them out. Gunnar: Rumor has it someone has offered a shoulder for you to lean on if you need any support through your current issues involving Prime and Hutch. Who do you think that might be? Kennedy lets out an exasperated sigh as she pushes herself up out of the chair and unclips her microphone. Kennedy: You know what, I’m outta here. I’ve had it with this Jerry Springer bullshit. Kennedy tosses the microphone on the chair as she walks off the set, completely fed up with Gunnar and his questions. Gunnar is left sitting behind, equally as annoyed but for completely different reasons. Why can’t people just answer all his questions anymore? Fade. |
