It seems Gunnar Leland has had a lot of work to do these days because he is once again seated in his chair in his own particular interview area, looking over another notepad full of questions. He seems to be studying them pretty carefully, until he looks up just in time to see the huge form of Nightmare coming toward him. Gunnar stands up briefly to shake Nightmare's hand, then the Dark Knight takes a seat across from him and makes himself comfortable. Gunnar: "Thank you so much for your time, Nightmare. There's been a lot going on with you lately here in FIW, your recent 'transformation' as it were, your losing streak...Hopefully we can clear some things up here and get your fans on the right track with you going into this match." Nightmare: "Yeah, hopefully. What have you got?" Gunnar looks through his notes, looking up at Nightmare with his eyes without raising his head, as Nightmare seems...somewhat restless, constantly looking past Gunnar, away from him, up at the clock, as if he is waiting for something beyond Gunnar's questions Gunnar: "First of all, how's the knee? Your knee took some substantial damage last week in the three way match as attributed by the submission loss--is there surgery for that bad knee planned in the foreseeable future?" Nightmare nods slowly, his eyes locking onto Gunnar once again. Nightmare: "Yes. I don't know when, but I will have surgery very soon to completely repair my knee. It's been a definite hamper to my career for a long time, so I think having surgery to get it back up to one hundred percent will definetly be something long overdue." Gunnar nods, nods, and nods again, flipping through his notes as Nightmare answers. He puts his eyes on Nightmare again, Nightmare's forest-green eyes shining gently as Gunnar asks a question again. Gunnar: "What do you think of this recent losing streak you've been on? Some wrestling critics have attributed your new 'transformation' as you've put it as the cause for your recent failures. Would you like to discuss that?" Nightmare starts to look a little annoyed as the question takes form, leaning forward in his chair, adjusting his long-sleeved shirt as he answers, a tinge of sharpness to his voice. Nightmare: "Everybody loses, don't they? I lose, Hutch loses, even the invincible Xtreme Kitten has lost every once in awhile. Losing is not a new thing to me, just like winning isn't a new thing. My knee has definetly been a hinderance but I think it's also been because my mind has focused too much on the past, the future...Not enough on where I am right now. That's going to change for sure though, this week." Gunnar nods, sensing that the subject he really wants to touch on is getting close. Nightmare's not aware of that though, of course. Gunnar: "Speaking of this week, you are scheduled for a one-on-one contest against FIW's Leading Lady, Kennedy. Do you think yourself capable of defeating the only woman to ever hold the Dual Crown Championship, even with her recent problems of late involving Hutch and Prime?" Nightmare nods confidently, a dark smile crossing his face as he folds his hands together. Nightmare: "You know, Gunnar, I'll tell ya something. Despite the fact that I have UNLIMITED respect for Kennedy for everything she has done to put FIW on the map, her respect for the rules no matter what her emotions are telling her, her doggedness and her refusal to let anyone hold her down, I have every confidence that I can defeat her this week. Yes, I know she's beaten me once before, and pretty soundly at that, but that was the past, that was the old Nightmare. I have every confidence that now I can win because I know now how important beating somebody of her skill and caliber would be to my career, it'd send me to heights that I haven't been at since I was World's Heavyweight Champion, Gunnar. Long before half our roster was even WORKING here. I expect nothing short of a hell of a fight out of Kennedy, because I'm gonna' give her just the same. And I won't settle for anything less than a win." After his kind words about Kennedy but his determined promise to defeat her, Nightmare seems a little more pleasantly riled up, a little farther away from the annoyed disposition he had earlier. Gunnar: "And speaking of Kennedy as well, what is your take on her whole ordeal with FIW's MVP and The Manster?" Nightmare shakes his head slowly as he answers, Gunnar's face faltering as he sees he's getting nothing from the Dark Knight, just as he did from Kennedy. Nightmare: "Gunnar, I'll tell you, out of my respect for Kennedy alone I am not going to touch on that subject as deeply as you want me to. Honestly all I'm going to say is their issues with Kennedy are not my issues, they never have been, never will be. I haven't given a shit about Prime since he turned his back on me years and years ago, and Hutch...All I am going to say about Hutch is he is damn lucky he lost his World Heavyweight Title before his rematch with me, because if not I'd be sitting before you as a 2-time World Champion, I guarantee that. And that's all I have to say on that subject." Getting that firm response from Nightmare seems to have suprised Gunnar a bit, as he passes by questions that now obviously he cannot answer and closes his pad, unfortunately wanting to end his interview by delving deeper into Kennedy's issues. He's not going to let Nightmare see that though and stands up at the same time that the Dark Knight does. Gunnar: "Alright, well, it looks like that's all I have for you, Nightmare. Thanks for your time and best of luck to you this week." Nightmare nods, wordlessly, gripping Gunnar's hand for another handshake before making his exit, his ring coat trailing behind him as he leaves. It looks like to Gunnar anyway as he's packing up his equipment that Nightmare does not want to concern himself with the 'Jerry Springer bullshit' as Kennedy so eloquently coined it, all he wants is to score a victory against Kennedy. He smiles to himself, thinking that this could be the victory Night's been looking for, but really all Gunnar expects is an amazing match between two of FIW's most beloved stars. Tune in next time, same Night-time, same Night-Channel to see where the adventures of our Purple and Black Attack take us next. Fade. |
