Roxie resides in the back seat of a cab which is in the midst of racking up one hell of a fair. From the Osaka ferry station to the Nagoya Rainbow Hall, this ain't gonna be cheap for them fellas down at FIW inc., I'll tell ya that. But right now Roxie doesn't seem to care much about that as her eyes are focused more on the harbour outside.

Fishermen are returning from their daily catch as some are just closing up shop for the night. Yep, the night sky is quickly approaching and the driver figures he can still get her there before dark. Best of luck to him.

"Hey, Louie!"

Roxie hears that voice yet doesn't react. Maybe because she's the only one who hears it in the taxi. It's a deep thought that takes her back to when she was eight.

Roxie at eight, is standing in front of a closed door knocking softly on it as if anticipating it to open soon. It's near midnight there as Roxie stands bare feet in a pair of light blue pajamas knocking on the door. After a while of knocking and calling out Louie's name, the door finally opens. On the other side stands Louie not all too amused with the sudden interruption in his sleep. In pinstripe pajamas, he keeps himself warm with a navy blue housecoat which was just thrown on moments earlier.

The door now open, Roxie rushes in hopping up onto Louie's bed. Before Louie can even close the door, Roxie is up by the window peering outside in wonderment. Her innocent eyes catching everything as if on the lookout for a certain someone. Louie shakes his head as he closes the door and walks toward his bed where his younger sister currently resides.

"What are you doing?"

Roxie looks over her shoulder, but only for a moment to tell him of her plan. The plan which involves looking for a certain man dressed in red to come by to their house. She's using Louie's window because Roxie's window hardly overlooks anything. That, and because Louie's bed is right under it she finds it more comfortable to look out through his. Hearing this, Louie shakes his head removing his housecoat before sliding back under the covers.

"Idiota, he ain't gonna come."

"Ya-huh. I know he's gonna come this year because I've been extra special good this year."

Still from underneath his covers, Louie tries to dismiss Roxie's claims of complete innocence. "Oh yea? Then what about that fib ya told Shawni? Sayin' you could twirl more times on one foot without stoppin'. How did that turn out?"

"We made a compromise."

"I don't think so. As far as I remember it, Shawni laughed at you when you fell over."

"No, me an' Santa. I told 'em I learnt my lesson 'bout fibbin' and I wouldn't do it again."

"Right, that'll work. Now would ya beat it? Tryin' to get some sleep over here."

"Sorry."

Roxie begins to slide off the bed as Louie kicks his feet out in the newly acquired space upon his own bed. Roxie doesn't go very far though as she stands by Louie's bed still not sure about something.

"Hey Louie, he's coming tonight, isn't he?"

Wanting nothing more than for her to just leave him be, Louie gives a solid nod and a groan than can be construed as a "yes". Well, at least it's one that Roxie takes as a yes. Seemingly pleased at hearing that, Roxie twirls around on one foot nearly toppling over. She catches herself though and leaves the room as quickly and silently as she can.

Roxie is brought back to reality from a bump in the road. She's clearly outside of Osaka by now, but the man up front she still refuses to talk to. She isn't mean now or anything, she just doesn't understand a word of Japanese. It's hard enough trying to get a word from Mr. Blond without fighting to understand.

"Hey, Louie! Wake up! It's Christmas! Louie, wake...up!"

Again forced from his sleep, Louie this time finds the trouble more physical as Roxie shakes him every which way while he's lying on his bed. A low moan later, Louie raises his head from the pillow and looks around groggy eyed trying to remember just where he is and what time it is. By the time he gets his answers, Roxie is long gone running down the stairs to see what was left for them. Louie, knowing that Roxie would only come back up to retrieve him when she noticed he wasn't beside her, decides it'd be best to just rise up. Struggling to his feet, Louie manages to exit the safety of his warm bed to the somewhat colder outside. His feet instantly freeze up temporarily as he plants them down on his hardwood floor. Socks, are the first things he goes for before continuing his trek to the living room.

It takes a minue or two until Louie is finally ready, and when he's at the bottom of the stairs, he figures it best not to go into the living room. Especially when he spots the sight of Roxie standing silent in front of the empty tree. He knows now would be a good time to remind him of how right he is, but offers not to instead as he heads into the kitchen where his father is at the table going over something. Business perhaps. It could be the reason why he isn't alone as a younger, stronger looking Salvatore sits across from him. Before Louie can really do anything, he's called to the table.

A half hour or so later, Roxie is upstairs in her room wanting to be alone looking out her window which overlooks the front yard. Across from the road is another house filled with the moments Roxie wishes she could be a part of. Instead, she's stuck up there watching as her father, Salvatore, and Louie head into the car to go and take care of whatever it is they're doing. Roxie, maintaining her silent vigil, does her best to keep her tears back. It's when she hears a voice calling her name from behind her that her eyes begin to swell up.

It's her mother who calls for her to come toward her from the doorway. Roxie steps away from the window and slowly drags her feet while making her way toward her mother who quickly embraces her in a small hug. A hug that Roxie tends to not want to let go. For a few moments her mother allows for the hug to take place until she figures its about time her daughter listens to what she has to say.

She kneels down in front of Roxie and wipes away what tears are on her rosy cheeks.

"Roxie, listen to me, you shouldn't worry about what they're doin'. Men are pigs, they don't care 'bout no one but themselves. You should always remember that."

Wiping her own tears away, Roxie gives a slow nod.

"And always remember that there's only one kind of person who can truly love a woman. Another woman, because they're the only ones who fully understand what hurts us, or what makes us stronger. You gonna remember that too?"

Again Roxie nods, only this time her eyes are dry enough that she needn't rub them further. Her mother gives her a generous smile knowing that she's delivered the right advice that'll help Roxie through most any problem. Reaching into her pocket next, she pulls out a small wrapped box.

"This is for you. Merry Christmas, honey."

Roxie smiles as she quickly takes hold of the box and proceeds to rip it open.

Another bump in the road brings Roxie back to the present as she again looks outside. It's clear the the driver isn't going to get her there before dark, but it doesn't seem to matter to either of them. Roxie's greatest Christmas memory is keeping her happy, while the increasing fare is keeping the driver happy.
