MAIN EVENT : FIW DUAL CROWN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH Standard Rules Match Jim O'Brien vs. Kiyoshi Nakahata © Referee: Tony Clarke ... is the image we fade up on (and no, ladies & germs, this is not an old roleplay I forgot to post). But slowly the camera moves backwards to reveal our entire scene: We find ourselves right outside of the FIW men's locker room. Standing in the center is the First Monster of FIW, Jim O'Brien. Clad in his usual flannel & denim attire, he holds the card from 12/21 Revolt in his hands. With a big, stupid smile he begins... O'Brien: "No ladies and germs, this is not a repeat. In fact..." *steps aside & reveals this week's card on the door* "... there's this week's card. And I know, this card hasn't been relevent in two weeks. But I'll tell you why I have this still." Jim looks down at that card one last time, then places it in his back pocket. O'Brien: "Like a lot of the roster, when I travel I have my share of mementos, some relics if you will. I have a small lil' crucifix in one of my wallet pockets. I have a rosary & tiny little New Testament Bible that I keep in my gymbag. Also a pair of lucky blue gym shorts that I've had since high school that I wear when I work out. But the very card from the December 21st Revolt, when I made my big comeback, is a new one for me. It reminds me of that night, the atmosphere, the fight, how I was so close to becoming a three-time Dual Crown holder. And though I didn't win the match, I still felt that it gave me a monstrous, much-needed momentum boost. And in times of peril, of uneasyness, I yank this card out and remember that night. Remember how I pushed Kiyoshi Nakahata beyond his limits and proved to the wrestling world that after all this time, Jim O'Brien is still a force to be reckoned with. Now, how I'm still carrying that momentum from my Dual Crown title match two weeks ago, especially after my crushing defeat in the Grand Prix to Roxie Galanoochie is something that some of you out there in TV land may be wondering. Well, I'll say this about Roxie and the Zaibatsu right now - I don't blame them, not a single bit, for their actions. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but for goodness sakes, she's fighting me! ME! If I was fightin' me, I'd call the Marines, the Army, the Navy, the Coast Guard, the Ghostbusters and the Three Muskateers to have my back. So... this time, I'll be a nice man. I'll let this slide. But keep in mind, Zaibatsu, I forgive but I don't forget. You just got handed a 'Get Out of Jail Free' card, so play nice in the meantime, kay?-thanks-bye." Jim clears his throat, then continues. O'Brien: "Now, I'm not just here to go over the past couple weeks... I want to talk about the future. More specifically, 2008 as we know it. Like every other schlub out there, I've made a set of resolutions. Now, I've quit smoking, drinking and have kept my weight down, so I don't have those to worry about. But what I do vow to all you kids out there and to the very locker room I'm standing in front of, is that I will, once again, hold gold in FIW. By December 31st of 2008, I vow to hold or at least have held championship gold around my waist. Now I know what I said when I came here, it wasn't about belts. But y'know somethin' gang... I'm hungry. And cheap pops, streamers & twinkies aren't going to fulfill that hunger. I'm a competitor, I'm a wrestler and I want nothing more than to be recognized as the best. And I'm more than qualified to hold any of the belts in FIW. There's the Flycore title, which would be perfect for me. I don't go a match without showing my lucha libre influence." [/sarcasm] "There's the Hellcat title, which... Okay, maybe not that one. But I take better care of my hair that division as a whole, that's for damn sure. The Tag Team title is one I'd like to hold someday, as I got my start in wrestling as a tag team competitor. The International title is one I had not been eligable to fight for for a majority of my career and is one I'd like to have around my waist. The Fighting Spirit title is what propelled me into the main event and made me as recognizable as I am today. But then, of course, the Dual Crown. This is the third consecutive week that I will be in a matchup with Dual Crown Championship implications. Now I know Dual Crown opportunities don't grow on trees, but at the same time, the front office has been awful generous regarding the Dual Crown contendership. I feel bad for a guy like Prime, who has to wait until Anarchy In The UK for his title match while Ethan Adams can have his title match whenever he wants and the winner of this battel royal - a hardcore battle royal, might I add - will very likely have their shot at Kiyoshi-san before Prime does. But, as generous as the front office has been, I know that my next chance for the Dual Crown after Hardcore Hangover could be a long, long time from then and I need to make worth while of the opportunities in front of me. On December 21st, I let myself get caught in the heat of the moment. Last Friday, I fell victim to the numbers game. This time... I'm not gonna let this Dual Crown opportunity slip through my fingers. That vow to hold gold, to be a champion, the road to that echelon begins at Hardcore Hangover. Oh, and look who's coming with me.." Jim bends down out of the picture, but quickly reclaims his vertical base, this time he holds in his hands his barbed wire wrapped plunger. Jim begins to chuckle softly then closes this roleplay. O'Brien: "Say hello... to my little friend." Jim gives a hearty chuckle thats borderline demonic as our scene fades to black. |
