We fade in, a depressing sight before us. Why do I say depressing? Perhaps it's the fact that the figure we follow as they slowly walk through the empty halls of the arena does so with their head hung low. I'm assuming this is Grant Rice, why? Well, I can see the Undisputed International Championship in one hand, it nearly drags the floor though. That could be a result of this person's shoulders also hung toward the floor. Maybe his shoulders are hunched over due to the weight on one of his shoulders that is the small gym bag, then again, perhaps it's something else weighing him down, perhaps... a loss? ???: Rice! Hey, Grant! The figure stops and just stands there for a moment, finally turning to see who it is that called his name. The camera also pivots to reveal the voice to be that of Jeff Noon. Rice probably thinking now, 'Just when I thought my day couldn't get any worse,' Ha. Grant Rice: What do you want, Noon. Noon walks up to Rice, now both in our view. Jeff Noon: Well, giving the FIW put on one of it's big events tonight, that being the Grand Prix tournament, I thought I might catch your thoughts on how the night went before you head off to do... whatever it is you do after a ReVolt. I think everyone can already tell how Rice thinks the night went, Jeff can be so clueless sometimes. Grant Rice: Well, Jeff. How do you think I think the night went? I was knocked out of the tournament, a loss always hurts, no matter if it's at a big pay-per-view facing off for the Dual Crown, or opening a house show. Grant Rice lifts the UIC from near the floor and rests it over his free shoulder. Jeff Noon: We already know you lost, don't you have anything better for me? Rice just stands there, staring at Noon, not a muscle twitches, not even a breath. If it was me, I would be trying to prevent myself from trying to smack some sense into the guy, maybe that's just what Rice is trying to do too. He finally shows sign of life though as he opens his mouth to respond to Noon's question. Grant Rice: Your asking me if I have anything better? What is it your looking for here, do you want me to flip my lid and go on about how I will hunt down Jaime Lee and make her pay for getting in my way of making it to the finals? Noon perks up. Jeff Noon: Really? You want to hurt Jaime Lee? This is some great material, I love it when I can uncover these big scoops! Rice simply shakes his head, surely at Noon's stupidity. Grant Rice: No, Noon. I don't want to hurt Jaime, why would I? We both walked out to that ring with a common goal, when that happens only one can walk away achieving that goal. I know I didn't walk into that ring in hopes I would lose, I'm not Drake Love. Just the same, Jaime Lee didn't walk in there against me wishing she wasn't in this tournament. Jeff looks confused. Jeff Noon: Well duh, everyone knows your not Drake Love, Drake Love is Drake Love... Grant burries his face in his hand. Grant Rice: Tell me Noon, do you listen to what people actually say or do you zone out and hear only one or two words and based your next comment or question on that? I know I'm not Drake Love, I think you completely missed the point. Whatever though. As I was saying, I went into the night to fight to make it to the finals. I was bested by Jaime Lee tonight, the simple fact that I took the loss so hard proves that I'm still hungry. I haven't simply become happen with my current position as the UIC, because you see, when you become happy where you are and stop driving yourself forward, you become stuck. I don't want to be stuck. Noon smiles... I feel something stupid coming on. Jeff Noon: Your hungry, I'm hungry, maybe we can go grab something to eat and hang out! Grant sighs, surely becoming more and more irritated with Noon by the minute, we all know Rice doesn't exactly like Noon so it's no real surprise. Grant Rice: I always hate talking to you, I think I would be better off talking to a wall. I'm done here, I'll say one more thing before I go. Congrats, Jaime. There wasn't too many people in this tournament I would have been okay being knocked out by, perhaps Elrick or Nightmare, but I'll say that you would fit into that category. I looked forward to the possibility of stepping into the ring against you when I first read the card. I just wish you could have went on to win the whole thing, not that damned Ethan Adams. Now, Noon... have a good rest of 2007, maybe 2008 will be your year, the year where I don't want to knock you upside your head with every word that comes out your mouth. Grant rolls his eyes, and with that he's off. This time though, his head doesn't hang low, perhaps he has come to terms with his loss tonight and instead looks forward to what the new year will mean for Grant Rice. And we fade... Jeff Noon: Hey! What about getting something to eat and hanging! I guess I was wrong, can't fade without one more Jeff Noon moment. Grant Rice ignores him and continues on his way, I think we should just ignore him too and fade to something else.
