Our scene opens on a generic sit down interview. A plain room with two chairs sat on either side of a small table, with a coffee table capping décor off. We find Gunnar Leland occupying the chair to our left but the one on the right is vacant for the time being. Judging by the way Gunnar continuously glances at his watch, I’d say the person meant to occupy that other chair is late.

As if the sub-title to the thread didn’t give it away, it’s Kennedy. And she finally arrives, calmly stepping into the scene with her Tag Team Championship slung over her shoulder. She places her other hand on her hip, a near bored expression upon her face as she simply looks down on Gunnar Leland. The man himself quickly leaps to his feet at Kennedy’s presence, extending his hand towards Kennedy.

Gunnar: Thank you for finally joining us, Kennedy.

His words ignite an eyebrow quirk from the bored hellcat, who makes no move to shake his hand. Instead, she leaves him hanging to which he has no response but to drop his hand down in embarrassment.

Kennedy: Oh, I’m sorry, Gunnar. Am I keeping you from something more important? Perhaps an interview with Prime? Or maybe you want to re-interview both of my opponents.

The moment of sass in Kennedy’s tone draws a surprised and offended expression from the professional interviewer.

Gunnar: I… wasn’t trying to imply something…

Struggling for a proper response that won’t further earn him Kennedy’s ire, Gunnar opts to simply trail off after his simply comment. Kennedy smirks just a little at his remark, nodding her head in agreement.

Kennedy: Sure, Gunnar. But hey, I should be thanking you for requesting this interview. I mean, after all, I was beginning to wonder if I was even in a match at Anarchy In The UK.

With that, Kennedy takes her seat and lounges back in the chair without a care in the world. Well, that’s not true. Her face looks very tense in the form of angry cares. Gunnar hurries to take his own seat, thinking it best to get on with the interview.

Gunnar: You are most certainly in a match at Anarchy In The UK. You’re defending your Tag Team Championship of the World alongside your partner Prime, who will also be challenging for the Dual Crown Championship that same night. It’s sure to be a great--

Kennedy: Yes! Gunnar, yes. Prime is challenging for the Dual Crown Championship. Something he won back at Violence Fetish. But I’m not in that match. So unless your next question is whether or not I think Prime’s mind will be on MY match, there’s no reason to bring it up, okay?

Gunnar: I apologize, Kennedy. I wasn’t trying to… it’s just going to be a huge night, in my opinion. Prime has worked his whole career towards this opportunity and I figured as his friend and partner that you would--

Kennedy: Let me ask you something, Gunnar. What have we heard about me this week as it concerns my own tag team partner and our opponents?

Gunnar looks up at the ceiling, taking a moment to consider that question. It wasn’t in the list he made out, so he doesn’t have the facts right before him. This is unprecedented and he doesn’t like it.

Kennedy: Nick Allen flat out said I was of no interest to him. Jay Bain, he hasn’t even mentioned my name. And Prime, my own tag team partner, sure he defended me against his bitch of a manager, pointing out how jealous she is of me. But is that how he really feels? Or is he going to once again succumb to Jesse’s invectives? How many times is she going to squeeze his bleeding heart for all its worth? And worse yet, how many times is he going to let her do it?

Gunnar shifts uncomfortable in his seat. Isn’t this supposed to be about a tag team match? Instead, we seem to be traveling back down the road of hearts.

Kennedy: You have to wonder if Prime even wants to be tag team champion anymore. With good reason his mind seems to be more on the Dual Crown Championship. And as long as he tags with me, he’ll never hear the end of Jesse’s abuse both towards me and at his intelligence. So the question becomes, is it worth it for him?

Gunnar: Kennedy, Prime is very proud to be Tag Team Champion alongside you. Those belts mean a lot to him. Even with the Dual Crown in sight, I don’t think he’d ever place any championship over the other in terms of importance. He’s not like that.

Kennedy: Isn’t he, Gunnar? He seems awfully hung up on simply proving himself over Nick. He’s hungry for the Dual Crown Championship, just like everybody in the locker room. And me? I’m the source of unnecessary drama in his life. Is it any wonder I’ve been overlooked all week?

Gunnar finds himself unable to answer that question. Literally, there are no words. He has no idea why Nick, Jay and even Prime have failed to mention Kennedy anymore than in passing.

Kennedy: In fact, maybe it would be better for everyone involved if I didn’t even bother showing up at Anarchy In The UK. Would any in the match even notice?

That question was rhetorical. I can tell because Kennedy stands up as she asks and no sooner than she asks it, she turns on her heels and walks out on Gunnar and this interview.

... and hardly pays any mind at all to the six-foot-six roadblock that stands between her and a speedy get-away. Looking up at the last second, Kennedy halts with a startle. Yet before the expected initial shock and confusion and all that plays its part, a strange sense of relief or maybe even euphoria tends to Kennedys face.

But like I said, it's only a fraction of a second before questions flood her mind and the expected feeling of confusion and perhaps even a detectable trace of regret consumes the Hellcat. Of course, who wouldn't feel even a wee bit of regret knowing that it's very likely that this six-foot-six roadblock, other wise known as Prime, may have very well heard every last word that had slipped off Kennedys spiteful tongue. And judging by the slightly pained look on his face...

...he has.

Kennedy: What are you-

Prime: -doing here?

Having Prime finish her question for her, and in such a dominantly forceful manner humbles the Hellcat. Prime nods past Kennedy, acknowledging the set she had just fled from.

Prime: Your boy, Gunnar, called me about an hour ago. Said after he had a chance to sit you down, he wanted to have the two of us together talk about... well, us. But since we're standing here right now, I see no reason why we can't get to it. So let me start by saying...

Here it comes!

Prime: You're right.

Judging by the confusion that twists Kennedys face, she was expecting something far more harsh! Seems to be that Prime's the humbled individual now.

Prime: All week long it's been Prime and Nick Allen, and to a small degree, Jay Bain... but nothing about you. Nothing that cast you in any sort of competative light anyway. So, you're right. You're being over looked.

Prime winces.

Prime: And I'm sorry.

Kennedys confusion subsides. Instead, a look of guilt weighs the co-champion down as her eyes fall from Prime to the floor. She may feel sorry as well, but a proud reluctancy keeps those words well hidden within her. Prime draws a heavy sigh, wich in turn, draws Kennedys attention once again.

Prime: But when you think about it all, you're just as much to blame for your hang-ups as much as anyone who lays them on you. I mean, can't be something if you don't buy into something, right?

Could be true. But like I said, Kennedy's far too proud a woman to just give in and agree right off the hop. Not that it's a bad thing to be proud. But sometimes pride is ony a stones throw away from being stubborn.

Prime: Look Kennedy, this is the bottom line... and I don't need Gunnar or his cameras to say this out loud... this was never about me. All this drama, all these feelings of jealousy or guilt or frustration, it never started with me.

Prime eyes Kennedy who looks ready to snap if he so much as dares to point the finger of blame at her. Only a natural response when you think about it. Especially when you feel like your back's against the wall to begin with. No one likes being told that everything is their fault. And right now, though some of it may be romanticised and perhaps exagerated, Kennedy is wounded by what she believes to be true. And when it comes to that preverbial wounded animal... poking sticks at it does little to calm the beast, so to speak.

Prime: Is started with us.

That's not at all what she was expecting! Kennedy looks kind of disappointed actually. Maybe taking a good verbal round out of Prime would have helped her feel better... but having to ackowledge the truth... that just sucks.

Prime: But so what if it did? So what?! So we have a history. So we have shit between us. Kennedy... nothing is going to change what had happened, and to be honest with you, I wouldn't change a damn thing anyway because look at us. Look!

Prime pats the tag team title that rests around his waist. She had hardly even noticed that the big man was wearing the cursed thing as her eyes, for the most part, have been fixed on Primes face.

Prime: We're champions, Kennedy. And we're champions together. Now I don't know about you, but I'm awful damn proud to say that my tag team partner is the historically immortalized first lady of FIW! You are the one and only first woman to ever be the Dual Crown champ! You have more rights and titles to claim than most of the locker room combined! God damn, Kennedy... you're a living legend!

Like a tennis game, the humility ball's in Kennedys court now.

Prime: But I'm not gonna stand here and blow smoke up your ass. I'm not gonna stand here and tell you what you already know. The fact of the matter, Kennedy, is that for all we're worth on our own... for all we've accomplished while doing our own thing, we've accomplished just as much as a tag team. And it's never been because of you or me... it's been because of us. Because we work that damn well together.

Kennedys eyes fall to the floor again. Perhaps the "Living Legend" is feeling a little ashamed of herself?

Prime: And come Sunday... come Anarchy, we've got a couple sum bicthes who want to put all we've got to the test. We've got two sum bicthes who want to divide and conquer... but I'm telling you, as far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to let that happen. As far as I'm concerned, and despite what all these other sum bicthes running their mouths say... I'm not saving everything I've got for Kiyoshi and the Dual Crown. I'm saying I'm gonna fight Nick Allen and Jay Bain like the rabid sum bitch that I am! These tag team titles, Kennedy... these tag team titles belong to us. We earned them.

Something suddenly dawns on Kennedy and it's the fact that Primes voice seems to be trailing off little by little. She shoots her eyes up from the floor to discover that her partner has started backing away. His eyes are locked on hers the minute she looks his way and, rightly so, she finds it hard to return his gaze.

Prime: I'm not your enemy, Kennedy...

He reminds her.

Prime: I'm your partner.

Shame ridden, Kennedys eyes fall to the floor once again before Primes final verbal issuance rattles her attention once again.

Prime: And your partner... our team needs you.

And that's all he leaves her with. Nothing profound. Nothing dramatic. The straight and simple truth. The questions are... can Kennedy handle the truth? And can she see through her pain... can she over come the emotional abuse that has been beaten down on her by so many people to answer the call of just one man? I suppose the real question is, how important is Prime to Kennedy? But it's not about that...

Is it?

Kennedy stands in silence for what seems like an eternity. Her mind runs over everything Prime just laid out on her. Reminding her that her history with the company actually does matter, regardless what people say. Admitting that she isn’t completely at fault for all the drama going on in both their lives. And even revealing that this tag team is not hindering his career in any shape or form, regardless of what Jesse says.

It may seem like an eternity but it’s actually seconds. We know because once Kennedy snaps out of it, Prime is still within pretty good distance for Kennedy to hurry and catch up with him after just a short run. She grabs onto his arm, prompting him to spin around and face her.

Kennedy: Hey. You’re right. We did earn these… as a team. And we’ve kept them as a team. And I will be there this Sunday at Anarchy In The UK. We’ll be a team.

Prime nods his head but has that look on his face. You know that look you have when you can tell someone is about to say “…however”. But does Kennedy follow it up with that?

Kennedy: However…

Yeah, I guess she does. Good thing Prime was expecting it or he could’ve been pretty let down by that.

Kennedy: If we do happen to lose these titles come Sunday, I think we should take a major break. As partners… and as friends.

Now wait a minute. Why would they need to take a break as friends just because they lose the tag titles? Is she trying to say their friendship is only based on the fact that they’re tag team champions?

Kennedy: I think it’s only fair to both of us. We’ve won these titles and we’ve beaten everyone there is for them, including Nick Allen and Jay Bain. So we already know we can do it, regardless of who‘s the better team this Sunday. And I think we both deserve to focus on our individual careers after this. Maybe you’ll win the Dual Crown later that night. Or maybe I’ll get another crack at Kiyoshi…

Prime stands in silence as Kennedy explains the possible situation come the conclusion of their tag team defense. Does he have a response? If so, it’s not showing on his face and he’s chosen to keep it to himself until she’s finished.

Kennedy: Who knows? Maybe I’ll get a shot against you for the titles. Either way, I think it’s best. For our careers and our personal lives.

Ouch. Now that’s where it gets too personal. Haven’t they both already made it clear that while they don’t regret their history together that it’s simply that? Why bring it back up?

Kennedy: Turns out your fiancé is not that fond of me, it would seem. So I think it would be beneficial to your stress levels if we just took some time so you can focus on that Dual Crown and the woman you’re going to spend the rest of your life with.

That had to of been painful for Kennedy to say. Actually catering to what Jesse wants? Yeah, that wasn’t easy for her to do. But she does it anyways, offering a reassuring smile to Prime the entire time.
