I tried to discover a little something to make me sweeter. Fading in from darkness, the scene opens inside of a small arena amid a buzz of people talking amongst themselves. A small graphic in the bottom left hand corner of the screen details the location as 'The Hexagon, Reading' for those not in the know. Various different coloured lights flash around the room, highlighting different aspects of the venue, such as the balcony and the incredibly worn-out stage. In the middle of the arena is a wrestling ring, occupied by a small number of people, one of which is Ash Koopa. Wearing black trousers and a yellow shirt with the sleeves rolled past his elbows, Ash talks amongst four other men, using his hands to give directions. Ash: "And realise that this is only a small arena, guys. We can't be doing with any big firework displays, otherwise we'll set the place on fire. Thanks." On that note, the four men nod to Ash and make their exit from the ring, allowing the camera to get ever closer to the man in charge of the show. Ash paces back and forth in the ring, admiring the set-up, then turns his attention to the camera and points to the viewers at home. Ash: "Let me tell you all a little something about gimmicks. This business is full of gimmicks. It's what draws the fans to the shows and sells tickets. Everyone has a gimmick of some sort, even those who claim that they don't. Even if everyone wrestled in black trunks and did the same five moves, that's still a gimmick, right?" A smirk crosses Ash's face and he nods, confirming his point. Ash: "My gimmick is the 'make a memory' thing. Sounds crazy, but it's true. I'm out to make memories to catch your attention, but it's still a gimmick. Being a Reject, that's a gimmick too." Again, Ash nods to help confirm his point. He looks to continue, but has his attention drawn away as a pair of attendants knock over a stack of seats, sending out a loud crashing sound. Ash rolls his eyes and waves off the incident, then focuses back on the camera. Ash: "Blake Orange is a living, breathing gimmick. He's some kind of ill-mannered, ignorant, blabbering American who lives inside of his own little bubble world. But, what I can tell you is that Blake is actually a cross-dresser named Florence who just loves to throw down with penguins every Sunday evening down the local. And that too is a gimmick. No-one knows the real identity of Blake; not even he himself. It's quite sad, really.." As if pitying Blake, Ash shakes his head and sighs. However, he quickly perks up and focuses on the camera once more. Ash: "Extreme Ninja's gimmick is that he's a walking pyjama-party and wants to get his hands on girls' pillows, but they only see him as a friend and don't find him attractive. Drake Love, on the other hand, has the gimmick of getting beaten up and disappearing for a few weeks, before forcing his way onto a pay-per-view to start the cycle all over again. A good example would be the gauntlet match this Sunday, which he just so happens to be a part of all of a sudden." Running things down in his mind, Ash quietly reels off the names of his opponents and counts them on his right hand fingers. After figuring out the next name, he snaps his fingers and points at the camera once more. Ash: "Colbert Tottington has one of the best gimmicks out there. He accentuates his English heritage to the point that people don't actually believe he's English at all. Like a poor American actor or something. If anything, it sounds like jealousy to me. I've never met anyone more English than Colbert, and I've met some pretty English people in my time, including myself." Clearly enjoying himself, Ash chuckles slightly. Ash: "And that brings me to you, Shaun Wilson. Now, I don't intend to fight Colbert's battles for him, but he has a point. You're the proud owner of one of the biggest and most over-used gimmicks in the wrestling world today. I hate to say it, but all of the bling and rap-star attitude is a show. And a poor one at that. You can sit in the Ivory Bar all day and order all the tortilla chips that you can manage, but at the end of it all, you're still some little punk from the streets, faking it to make a name for yourself. I'm actually quite surprised that you haven't walked into the ring and pulled a gun on someone, claiming it as your new trademark move. After all, that is the next logical progression in the gimmick, right?" A dark, sinister smile breaks on Ash's face and he saunters slowly toward the camera, keeping his arms behind his back. He continues to move closer, until stopping barely two feet away from the lens. Ash: "You're the one in this match that is going to cause me the most trouble, Shaun. Blake may talk the talk, but he won't be walking the walk. Drake and Ninja are nothing, whilst I can dispose of Colbert fairly easily. But you, Shaun, are a member of the elusive Tanaka Zaibatsu; a group that I've never faired to well with. However, your numbers game is completely ineffective here, because Blond and Tanaka are in Manchester, leaving you by yourself. No gang to protect you here, Shaun, and I'm looking forward to busting the proverbial cap in your arse on my way to winning the match." A wry smirk crosses Ash's face. Ash: "The same goes for whoever else I meet in the ring on Sunday. It may only be a pre-show, but gaining contendership for gold takes me one step closer to making memories for the fans. It takes me one step closer to realising my gimmick." And on that note, Ash begins laughing to himself as he turns away from the camera and heads toward the ropes. Ash glances over his shoulder at the camera, then ducks between the top and middle ropes, before jumping from the apron to the wooden floor below. Paying no attention to his surroundings, Ash walks through a group of technicians and heads down the aisle toward a curtained doorway. As Ash disappears from sight, the scene fades to black and comes to a close, made clear by the static.
