When the scene opens to the backstage area of Madison Square Garden, the first sight we see is two thirds of the Saints of South Ireland, Owen and Finn McConnaigh chatting amiably amongst themselves as they pack away their belongings in their brand new FIW locker room. It's obvious that the boys along with the help of their oldest brother Priest have already made their locker room look as much at home as they can manage. Looking at the room we see that a big Irish flag is attached to the first wall we see, with a shield just below it, which is no doubt the McConnaigh coat-of-arms, considering it has a wolf, a cross and a bull on it to represent Patrick I's sons. To the right of the flag is a greyscale photograph of their late father, posing with an unfamiliar championship belt, the infant versions of the Saints crowded on his lap (We can tell Finn from the thick mop of red hair). Anyway, enough of looking at the Saints' locker room--hey, look, it's Toby Bostock! He obviously looks pretty proud of himself having beaten Rebecca and the rest of the FIW interviewers to the first interview with the Irish brother tag team...but opens his mouth rather stupidly to announce his arrival. TB: "Top of the mornin'! Heh...heh.." That caught Owen and Finn's attention at least. The two Irish wrestlers look at each other, a playful smirk on Owen's face as Finn knuckles his shoulder, nudging his younger brother towards Toby. Owen shakes Toby's hand, Toby grimacing a little bit at the force of the Irish Wolfhound's grip. Owen: "Hello to you, too. You are Toby Bostock, aye?" Toby simply nods, still favoring his hand, a grunt of pain following after Owen lets go of his hand. Owen: "Aye, good, they told us someone would be by. I'm Owen, this is my brother Finn." Toby finally gets a look now at the massive Finnegan McConnaigh, clad ready for war already in his wrestling gear, adjusting the cuffs of his crisp white suit jacket. Toby gulps, looking positively frightened by Finn as Owen laughs goodnaturedly at Bostock's fear. Toby: "Hullo, Finn...er...you're...you're quite big, aren't you?" Finn smiles a friendly smile, the Irish titan now walking over and placing a hand on Toby's shoulder that nearly knocks the poor guy flat. Finn: "So I'm told. So, you came to tell us about our match then?" Toby nods, rubbing his shoulder now as Finn has finally freed him from his pain. Owen leads Toby to a seat in his locker room, the McConnaighs showing quite the skill at hospitality as Owen seats himself across from Toby, grabbing a roll of athletic tape and starting to tape his hands up. Finn positions himself just to the right of Owen's chair, looking (if it's possible) bigger than he did before. Owen: "Alright, lad, give us the scoop, then. Who'll we be matchin' muscles with first? These Reject fellows? Not too well liked in high school, I suspect there. Kennedy and Prime, the champions of the world? Or maybe those Japanese lads, the Tanaka Zaibatsu?" Toby shrugs a little nervously as Owen excitedly prods him, the purported submissions expert taping up his hands as he talks. Toby: "That's the thing though, Owen...I don't know. The card says you two have mystery opponents facing you, a tag team that's making their debut in the same match you two guys are debuting in. My question is how are you guys possibly going to prepare to wrestle a team none of us, fans, staff, wrestlers alike have ever seen?" Suffice to say, Toby is in a word suprised at the light still glinting in Owen's eyes despite the uncertainty of his opponents and the obvious disappointment at not being able to compete against one of the more established teams. They have no logical way to prepare, though Owen's eyes and his actions are telling Toby he can't wait to get into the ring. Owen: "Well, for sure we're not going to be intimidated. What I'll let you know here an' now, Toby, is that a challenge, be it big or small has always been a friend of a McConnaigh. That's how our family built our legacy from the ground up, from our four times great-grandfather Fergal McConnaigh, the man who started our family, down to our father, all the way down to me, Finn, and Priest. We didn't run, we didn't worry, we didn't go into wrestlin' contests sweatin' and nervous about how big or how fast or how skilled our opponents were. Our fathers and brothers before us just went out there and wrestled, and wrestled with every last drop of energy they could give the fans and their opponents, and it just so happened that more often than not they won their matches because of that. That, in effect, is how we are going to approach this match tonight." Finn nods, shaking a thoughtful finger as he walks back to another part of the locker room to make some final checks of the area before he adds to what his brother said. Finn: "True enough. Whoever our opponents are, Toby, you can be rest assured that the McConnaigh boys will be bringin' an equal fight to share with any of 'em. We're here to make our mark on FIW and show the worldwide FIW fanbase exactly who we are and how good we are at this profession, and if it means spoilin' the welcomin' party for whoever it is that's debuting against us tonight, well...Foul play for them, that they had to debut against a team like the Saints of South Ireland. Let's all hope God is watchin' over them, because surely they'll need to be seekin' solace after we deal them their first loss. Mark my words as I speak 'em before God, Toby, for it'll be done at ReVolt." Quite stern in his words is "Big" Finn McConnaigh, as Toby looks quite satisfied with the information he's gotten and goes to get up from his seat, but The Irish Wolfhound kindly deters him from doing so, setting him back down and pointing towards the now-bubbling coffee pot in the far corner of the room. Owen: "Hail there, Toby, no one leaves the McConnaigh household without a warm drink in their stomach. Here, dish 'em up, Finn, make the man feel at home." Wow! Toby never gets this kind of treatment...well...ever! Toby smiles slowly to himself, thinking that he's made some fast friends with two of Ireland's newest contributions to Full Intensity Wrestling, as the scene fades to black on Toby waiting for his coffee. |
