Train, Train, Take me away. You ought to know the rest, Constant Reader, if not then go play FFVIII until you do. When you return, you will find Kiyoshi Nakahata at least thinking of that song; as the remarkably flat English countryside rolls past through the window.* Despite the snow covering the fields, he still wears nothing on his upper body beyond a t-shirt, bearing the curious slogan "Soh Cah Toa, Bitches!" in Shocking Pink. The camera seems to have been placed on the table, and rattles ever so slightly. Kiyoshi: Well, Ladies and Gentlemen. Once more, it seems, the Iceman Cometh. Well, Yeti, but I suppose that the principle still applies. Back in FIW, and Back in the United Kingdom; and it seems I have returned to unaccustomed, and most likely undeserved praise which borders on flattery. Still, perhaps this week, I shall earn some of the kind words that have been spoken by some of my former collegues. That word, former, is preceeded by the slightest pause. Kiyoshi: Although there is one thing I would like to say to Drake Love in particular, that Brothers in Arms or not, an opponent is an opponent, and I would be disappointed if he let some kind of sentimentality for the past stay his hand against me. While I am on the subject of Brother Drake, there is something I would like to explain to him... But first, he sits back, and ponders exactly how to say what he wants to say. Kiyoshi: The Rejects I left at Summer of Sin were not the same Rejects I had joined so many months earlier. Increasingly, I found that my own voice was being drowned out by the actions of the rest. Things were said and done that I could no longer condone, and so when I lost the Dual Crown, I got my release from both the Rejects and FIW as a whole. It seems that we, as a whole will be remembered more for the actions of Grant Rice, than of any kind of pure or righeous message we may once have had. He sits up, and turns back towards the handicam. Kiyoshi: Perhaps my leaving was what allowed him in to destroy us... No, my apologies, you. That is, you in the collective form, not you personally, Drake. On the other hand, perhaps it did not matter what I did. In truth, I would not have been proud to have been associated with him in the Rejects, the same way I am proud of having called both you and Graver 'Brother.' For those who remember the "Shower Scene," this may seem a huge piece of revisionism. Even Kiyoshi does, to an extent. Kiyoshi: To be sure, we have our differences; but then, that was part of the idea of the Rejects: that the oddballs, misfits, and quiet strangers in the corner could still fight, and fight well. At least, that was the plan... He looks a little disheartened that the plan did no go... Well, according to plan. Still, he's back, right? Kiyoshi: So here we are, St. Valentine's Massacre match. Four opponents, two of which, I have the highest regard for; a third whom I also have a great amount of respect for, and Sean Madrox. A name, which coming from the mouth of the Yeti, rhymes with Sleaze. Don't ask how. Kiyoshi: A man, who apparently can walk out of a match with his head held high after smashing his opponent in the face with a chair, getting himself disqualified. This, I must confess, is a skill I have not yet mastered. There may be mitigating circumstances beyond that, of which I am not aware; however, that bold assertion of his - to me, at least - rings hollow. I do not wish to bore you all by restating my feelings on the matter, beyond this: I hope there will be no opportunity for a repeat performance. This, of course, is the tone of a man who does not intend to allow there to be such a thing. As grim as he looks, he forces himself to brighten up, with a quote half-stolen from a famous BBC panel game Kiyoshi: I do not wish for my return address to end on such a sour note; so I leave with news that there's only one thing left. All that remains is... Anyone remember the end? He cuts off the feed himself before he says it; preferring to keep the full version more a defiant statement of intent, as opposed to a quickly rattled off catch-phrase. [size0]* Yeah, the show takes place in Scotland, however Kiyoshi has his apartments for the UK Tour a little further south. |
