Immediately following O’Brien/Wilson… Our scene fades up to the gorilla position, where pushing aside the curtain from the entryway is the ’08 Grand Prix Champion and Man in Black, Jim O’Brien, immediately followed by the rest of his SS&S crew. And it’s certainly a feel-good mood amongst them, with Jim pumping his fists in the air and leading Smarty & Paper Bag Man in some Pat Benatar… Jim, Smarty & PBM: *singing horrifically* “WE BELONG TO THE LIGHT, WE BELONG TO THE THUUUUUNDERRRRR! WE BELONG TO THE WORDS THAT WE’VE FAAAAALLEN UNDERRRRR!” Then Jim immediately stops dead in his tracks, causing Smarty, PBM and now Some Kind of Monster to stop dead in their tracks. O’Brien: “I forgot the words to the second part…Aw heck, WE BELONG!” Jim, Smarty & PBM: *starting back up* “WE BELONG! WE BELONG, WE BELONG TOGETHER~!” Meeting her comrades with a fresh towel and a bottled water would be Kendra. She… doesn’t look too pleased. It’s common thing with the O’Brien’s – they’re always miserable. Even when they’re singing Pat Benatar songs. Jim greets his little lady… O’Brien: “Oh my goodness! Did you see me out there, smashing Shaun Wilson’s face in?! That was incredible!” Kendra: “Yes, I did. But I want to ask you something – Did you really feel it was necessary to talk about our sex life in front of 15,000 people the other day? Hmm?” And Jim’s caught like a deer in headlights, along with Smarty. PBM & SKoM, eh, we can’t really tell. O’Brien: “Um…” And immediately the gravy train of positivity and awesomeness gets derailed and rolls off a cliff. Paper Bag Man: “Hey Monster. I need to open a jar of peanut butter, can you help me?” Monster nods and both the hooded members of SS&S zip out of the scene while Smarty starts mashing buttons on his Blackberry. Smarty: “Oh, well, would you look at that. It’s the research & development department with some pie charts and some graphs. I have to take this. TTYL.” Smarty zips out as well, leaving Jim & Kendra to their marital issues. O’Brien: “Well, uh… It was around Valentine’s Day and… It’s not like I said anything bad. I didn’t lie about anything I said. I don’t lie, dear. I thought you would’ve learned that by now.” Kendra: “No. You didn’t lie. But what we do in our bedroom-” O’Brien: “Don’t forget the kitchen, living room, pantry, barn, garage or shower.” The Kendra is not amused. Kendra: “That is not the business of the people in the audience. The sick-fans or whatever you call them.” O’Brien: “Sycophants.” Kendra: “Yeah… Whatever that is. Just…” *sighs in annoyance* “… start thinking before you speak.” O’Brien: “I can’t.” Kendra: “What?” O’Brien: “Because… I hear voices in my head. They council me, they understand. They talk to me.” Kendra: “And you’re going to tell me next that you have I.E.D.?” O’Brien: “Well… I was.” Kendra crosses her arms and rolls her eyes. Jim steps a little closer and starts rubbing his hand against her arm, and speaks a little quieter. Soothingly, even. O’Brien: “Come on… I’m your Iron Man. And you’re my Iron Maiden . . . . I’m sorry. I won’t talk about our amazing sex life on live television anymore. Unless I get an endorsement deal of some kind that requires it.” Kendra: “Okay. You’re still sleeping on the couch tonight.” O’Brien: “Aw shucks.” “JIM!” Jim turns his attention to a returning Smarty Smark. He looks over to Kendra and pleads… Smarty: “Can I borrow the Iron Man for just a tick? Kay-thanks-bye.” Jim and Smarty step aside – which is about 5 feet from where Jim was once standing. Jim tilts downward some to listen to whatever his super agent has to say. Smarty: “I just got off the phone with the Powerade people.” O’Brien: *excitedly* “You did? What’d they say?” Smarty: “It was a… mixed reaction. A few days ago, we had ‘em right where we wanted ‘em. They were ready to sign you to an endorsement deal right off the bat a week ago after Nensai Senjou. And you impressed ‘em tonight against Shaun. But-” O’Brien: “But what?” Smarty: “Well… these people actually pay attention to our promo time. And they don’t like how stiff with the tongue you’ve been lately. And that you’ve been giving a lot of ‘free press’ – their words, not mine – to… certain former roster members. You know who I’m talking about.” O’Brien: “But, I hate them.” Smarty: “I know. So do I. Look – On a personal level, I don’t mind you calling things like you see them. In fact I find it very entertaining when you do, and it stirs the internet fans up. Professionally, you can’t be giving now-rival wrestlers in rival companies any free press. Let them say what they want, because they’ll be the ones seen as ‘bitter’ while you’ll be getting more free publicity than you could’ve imagined. In the meantime, just let me handle things. Powerade thinks they’re playing hardball, but we got ‘em in our back pockets, Daddy-o. Right where we want them. We’ll have it inked by the end of the week, and you’ll be on the receiving end of a multi-million dollar endorsement deal and more Powerade than you could pound down on a hot summer day.” O’Brien: “Smarty, brother… I love you.” Smarty: “I love you too, Jim. You make me money. Lots and lots of money. Now, we gotta go over some figures…” Smarty continues on with his numbers and such, but they’re not entirely important as Jim & Smarty make their exit from our scene, and in turn, our scene fades out. |
