Ash
Capt. Ash Kapow~!
[ * * * * * ]
Throwing needles at the sky.
The camera rolls and the scene fades in, opening in a darkened corridor. The walls are painted white, straight over the brick work, and foam-insulated pipes run overhead from the left to the right, then back in the opposite direction. Squatting in front of the camera, resting his forearms on his knees, is the Fighting Spirit Champion. Dressed in black cargo pants and a red flannel shirt, Ash glares at the camera from his crouched position. Holding his stance, Ash glances down to the Fighting Spirit Championship on the floor in front of him, and then brings his gaze back up again.

Ash: "I'm waiting, Harrison."

Pausing for a moment, Ash holds his gaze with the camera.

Ash: "Waiting patiently, Harrison O'Reily. Just sitting, just waiting."

Suddenly, Ash springs up from the floor and pushes his face up against the camera lens, engulfing the screen.

Ash: "I AM WAITING, HARRISON Waiting for some excuse. Waiting for a story. Waiting for some justification. And, most importantly, waiting for the threats."

Taking a deep breath, Ash pulls himself back away from the camera and positions himself in the middle of the corridor. Ash stoops down and picks up his belt, before slinging it over his shoulder and focusing on the camera.

Ash: "I've been quiet all week. Five long days without stepping in front of a camera. No bragging. No gloating. No talking. For once, I thought I would let the Associates control the verbal situation. Let the Associates deal with damage control before I say anything. Instead, nothing. Smark and all of his minions stay quiet about the situation, which shows that last Sunday had a huge impact. The Fighting Spirit Champion defeated the Dual Crown Champion, by pinfall, in the middle of the ring. No bones about it. Ash Koopa defeated Prime. And yet, I get nothing from it. Apart from, of course, a shot at the Dual Crown which I'm sure will be awarded in due time.."

A smug grin breaks on Ash's face.

Ash: "And even though they say nothing, there is clearly a deep-rooted issue in all of this. Why else would I be taking on another member of the Associates? There is a fear - a concern - about what I can do to the Associates, to the Champion and to this company. The Nightmare Child wanders with intent, ready to inflict damage on anyone that gets in my way or comes too close to my Fighting Spirit. Harrison O'Reily is the next one on my list, it would appear."

Looking to the belt on his shoulder, Ash chuckles slightly.

Ash: "Just like a film plot. I get a scratch on the Don and in order to get revenge, he sends his foot soldiers out, one by one, starting at the very bottom of the ranks. And that's what you are, Harrison. You're the bottom of the ranks. They may call you the juggernaut of the group, but what does that say when there are three other members who dwarf you? You are literally the front line of the Associates task force. In all seriousness, Harrison, you're the employee of an employee, working for Blake who is working for Smark. That puts you somewhere between being a personal assistant and a pet. And I'm not entirely sure which is worse."

Pulling the belt from his shoulder, Ash holds it against his leg with his left hand and glares into the camera.

Ash: "Even as a Reject, I made my mark. I may have been considered the bottom ranked Reject, regardless of whether we were brethren and equals. But I used my position to my advantage. I broke the proverbial barriers and I captured belts. The Flycore Championship. And the Fighting Spirit Championship, which I have here with me now. Your accomplishments are meagre and are shared with Blake. For a juggernaut, you're not particularly imposing. But that's fine, Harrison. I don't mind an easy week. You're my training for the big match. You're the chickens that I must chase. You're the meat that I have to punch. You're the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art that I must climb."

Lowering his voice and cutting all the excitement, Ash stares dead-pan into the camera.

Ash: "You're my stepping stone to the Dual Crown."

Taking a step backward, Ash slings the Fighting Spirit Championship over his shoulder once again and smirks.

Ash: "The sixty-seven pound question is, Harrison, what sort of pet are you going to be. When Smark lets Blake off his leash and tells him to open the pen, what sort of animal is going to come through that curtain? See, even though I like the idea of a training session, I still want to fight. I'd put this belt on the line if they'd let me; prove my worth. I want you to come out of the gate, snarling and spitting like a pit-bull, ready to tear me limb from limb. I don't want a goldfish that fell out of its bowl or a little Labrador puppy. I want a vicious animal. I want you, Harrison O'Reily, to make up for Prime's hindsight last week."

With a smirk, Ash nods to the camera.

Ash: "That's what you could call it. Hindsight, which we all know is a bitch. Prime failed to take me seriously and it cost him. You could blame it on El Lumberjacko. Or you could just blame it on the Fighting Spirit Champion, Ash Koopa, who held Prime to the canvas for three seconds. Whatever the excuse for Prime's defeat last week, it's down to you to correct it, Harrison. All eyes are on the pet, to see what he can do. Is your bark worse than your bite, Harrison? Are you going to eat me alive, or will you be telling the next victim what you learnt in the ring with me? Explaining the pain that the K-Klutch inflicts on people and offering tips on how to escape. Begging them to tap straight away to avoid permanent damage.."

Moving closer to the camera, a big grin breaks on Ash's face.

Ash: "Who's a good boy? Is it you, Harrison?"

With that said, Ash throws his head back in laughter and slaps the centre plate on the Fighting Spirit Championship. Slowly, he gathers his wits and glares into the lens, then turns on his heels and walks out of the shot as the scene comes to an end.
