Ash
Capt. Ash Kapow~!

Listening to something new.
The scene fades in and opens directly on the face of Ash Koopa, blocking out any other potential view. Staring hard into the camera lens, Ash snorts and runs his right hand over his face, wiping away sweat and a small bit of saliva from his chin.

Ash: "When I got this belt back from Shaun Wilson.."

As if needing to clarify which belt in particular, Ash raises the Fighting Spirit Championship into the shot. The centre plate glistens under the artificial lights of the camera with a golden reflection appearing on Ash's face.

Ash: "When I won back my Fighting Spirit from Shaun Wilson, I vowed to make this the most contested Championship in this entire promotion. I went to Keenan and I told him that I would defend my belt against anyone he chooses, anytime he likes. To prove my worth and to make my legacy, I want to be in that ring every Sunday night defending against anyone with the gall to step up to the plate. And yet, despite all of this, I have yet to make a defence since winning it back on February eighth. Only two shows, you might say. Twenty days. But it's not happening this week, either. Instead, I'm tied up in some business with Smark and company."

Taking a few steps back from the camera, Ash reveals his surroundings to be a service corridor with unpainted brickwork and exposed pipes running overhead. Wearing baggy black short-pants and a white wifebeater, Ash clutches the Fighting Spirit Championship to his left shoulder.

Ash: "This Sunday, March first, is my thirty-fourth birthday. Rather than defend my Fighting Spirit, I must partner two men and further embroil myself in a war with the most powerful group in the promotion. A war that I do not want. The only reason I am involved with Smark is because I hold a victory over his star attraction, the Dual Crown Champion, Prime."

A smirk creeps across Ash's face as he runs through that particular encounter in his mind.

Ash: "I admire Smark, I truly do. Any man that wishes to achieve success by exploiting others has my admiration. It takes a real man to accept that he cannot do the job alone and requires help. Help that he pays for out of his own pocket, no less. Smark has acquired quite an impressive group of individuals, with Prime and Jim O'Brien heading up the books. With Sean Madrox, Blake Orange and Harrison O'Reilly backing them up, and Chris Cage now bringing up the rear, you can't argue with the talent. Or the numbers, either. That I hold a victory over the top star, and have a loss to the then-bottom of the rung, is quite remarkable. And it's something I intend to fix on Sunday night in the ring."

Nodding slowly, Ash looks to the belt on his shoulder, then back to the camera.

Ash: "I can safely assume, Harrison, that with your victory you are entitled to a go at my Fighting Spirit in the upcoming future. With Blake focusing on his own business, a singles run is inevitable for you. I can't say you were lucky last Sunday; no luckier than I was the week before that. As far as I'm concerned, Ash Koopa and the Associates have traded off their lucky wins, and from this point onwards, it's going to be intense. You'll be wanting your shot at my Fighting Spirit and I want my shot at Prime's Dual Crown. One can only believe that our encounters will not cease until we have all received what we want."

Running his right hand through his hair, Ash slicks it back and sighs.

Ash: "I said earlier that I do not want a war with Smark and his Associates. Inevitably, this is what I am going to get and therefore, I must go with the cards that I am dealt."

A slight smirk creeps onto Ash's face.

Ash: "This Sunday, I shall saddle up for battle against the trio of Cage, O'Brien and Madrox. Three impressive people in their own right, but together, potentially unstoppable. And with me, I will have Drake Love and Ethan Adams. Together, we will ride into a war that I do not want, nor do I believe we can win. We are three men with three different agendas, and whilst we may be able to win the battle in the ring, there is slim chance of surviving the wave of power that Smark commands. In addition to our opponents, we must consider Prime, Blake Orange and Some Kind of Monster. I am not talking myself down, only accepting that three men against six is.."

Trailing off, Ash looks to the ground and sighs. He takes a deep breath and shoulders his belt, then looks into the camera. All of a sudden, the fire in his eyes appears to have been extinguished and replaced with a hint of fear.

Ash: "I do not want to spend my birthday on the receiving end of a mugging. Regardless of whether I like or respect my partners, I will work alongside them on Sunday to knock our opponents off. I want a clear road until either I get my shot at Prime or Harrison is granted a shot at me. Whichever comes first. I may not get it, but I can hope. And sometimes, that is all a man has got.."

Again, Ash trails off. He stares into the camera and whilst the fear in his eyes fades, they stay empty. Ash sighs and holds his gaze for a moment, then turns and walks off. The camera turns and watches Ash skulk down the corridor, then opts to fade out for a close.
