Roxie steps through her shared changing room door dabbing her forehead with a small hand towel. Judging by the fact that her hair looks both wet and in a mess she’s come from either a shower or a pool. Hard to tell though as she’s dressed, yes, to compete. Though it wouldn’t be surprising to find out that she swims in that attire as well. What? You don’t think people can swim in a public pool wearing close to street clothes? Ask me about it, I’ll tell you how wrong you are there…you know, if you said they can’t.

Her forehead feeling now relatively dry, Roxie tosses the towel to the side where it lands over the back of a chair. The towel isn’t the only thing that lands on the chair as Roxie slumps down letting out a long, relieving sigh at the same time. Hard to belief that a day like this has already come to an end for Roxie as she rests her head on the towel and doesn’t seem to mind the moistness it sends back. By now it must seem relaxing, so relaxing in fact that one would assume she’s asleep. That is until she hears a voice that’s all too familiar to her.

“It’s big? That was your sound byte?”

Her left eye opens alone as Roxie eyes the back corner of the room, a apart of the room that we, unfortunately, don’t get to see. So whether someone is there or not remains to be seen. There’s the voice, yes, but something about it seems out of place. Like it’s hear but at the same time coming from somewhere else. Though Roxie doesn’t worry too much about this as she lets out a small smile while getting herself back into a cozy position closing her eye to match the other.

“But I didn’t get what they wanted. It sounded like they asked me for lunch.”

“You realize just how important this match is, don’t you? What it holds if you win?”

“I know what’ll happen when I win, that’s why I don’t want to.”

Roxie suddenly feels a sharp shake in her chair as she’s forced into a wide awakening. The voice now grows somewhat upset over Roxie’s latest plan on non-achievement.

“This could be your night, your night to prove that a woman such as yourself can go the distance and you’re just going to throw it away? Why? Why when you’re suddenly given the chance you so proudly spoke of last week?”

“’Cause I’m scared!” Roxie’s sudden bark out response has the other calm down some as the Hellcat pushes herself out of her chair so she can stand up when facing whoever it is she’s talking to. “This whole night is like leading a lamb to their death, or whatever. You really think that anyone is gonna walk outta there the new Dual Crown champ? You think anyone can just go in there, win this battle royal, and then defeat a man like Prime? Show me one person who could do something like that, you show me.” Roxie stops long enough to allow whoever to give her a glimpse of someone who might be able to not only win a thirty man battle royal but a match against Prime in the state that said battle royal would put them in. “Show me.”

It’s not surprising that she doesn’t get the response she’s nearly demanding but it does seem a little odd that whoever she’s yelling at seems to be in near full agreement of her.

“You’re right. There’s no reason Prime should be as unsure as he says he is, this night is basically like leading a lamb to slaughter. Anyone who wins this battle royal will have nothing but adrenaline backing him while Prime will have more than that in his defence style. He’ll have strength, he’ll have determination, and most importantly he’ll have the energy.” Hearing all of that brings to peace of mind to Roxie, as she just looks all the more worried. However, the voice seems to have more to add. “But you really think everyone else doesn’t already know this? Do you actually think that everyone is going in there fully believing that they can not only win this battle royal and the Dual Crown champion in one night? No, what I’m sure people have realized is winning is a very small option. If they do, congratulations are indeed in order, but I’m sure what they’re really going for is proof.”

“Proof?”

“Yeah, proof that on maybe some other night when things are more or less equal they can go above and beyond the champs requirements and defeat him. If anyone can hang with Prime and maybe get a near fall or two before their eminent defeat, then that’s all the more reason to celebrate. Because they’ve proven to themselves that given the right circumstances, they can go the distance. And that person going the distance could be you.”

Roxie even has to think about the possibility of the nights main event being her challenging Prime. Far fetched, but one can never truly know.

“So forget about Jenny and Brianna in this match, they may think about you but you need to focus on just getting out of there with a victory. Prove to the world that tits and ass—“

The voice stops when Roxie looks toward the person with a sort of upset look on her face.

“Sorry, that women who focus just as much on their beauty as their in ring presence,” Roxie nods in response “can still do amazing things in the ring.”

The blond Hellcat has no choice but to smile after hearing that. The smile almost turns into a laugh but the giggles don’t come out as Roxie starts to look just a little more serious when she looks back up at the figure before her.

“So what would you have said for this sound byte?”

The figure doesn’t think for even a moment before giving his sure fire response like it was a question he had been expecting.

“I don’t think it would’ve mattered. What you said was dead on perfect anyway.”

Roxie again smiles as she brushes the loose bangs from her face. With bangs gone from her vision, so too, one would suppose, has the visage Roxie has been speaking with as she turns back toward the mirror.
