I still need you, but I don't want you now. The scene fades in and the camera opens on a large open field, covered in lush, green grass and giant oak trees. Children scream and giggle on a play park in the far distance, whilst the supervising parents sit nearby in groups and share a picnic. The camera pans away and settles on a shaded area under an oak tree, where Ash Koopa is sat with his back against the bark. He is wearing a pair of red-rim Aviator shades and a pair of white shorts, whilst next to him is a red t-shirt and the Grand Prix Championship belt. Ash raises a bottle of Popsi to the camera, welcoming the viewing audience to his world, then smiles and takes a sip. As he sets the bottle down on the grass, Ash crosses his arms against his chest and aims his shades in the direction of the camera. Ash: "Who'd have thunk you'd be able to find somewhere as nice and relaxed as this place in Las Vegas? I certainly didn't. And if it wasn't for the fact that I have the Grand Prix Championship, rather than the Dual Crown, I'd have accepted the fact I was dreaming." A little chuckle escapes Ash's mouth as he turns to look around at his picturesque surroundings once more. Ash: "It's been a busy week, y'know? Keith Williams has really been out on the campaign trail this week, trying to bring us all down with his words. He's playing a fantastic game of Mind-Fuck and I'm sure his actions will more than back up his words. But I don't think it will be enough. In fact, I think Keith is only serving to dig himself a rather large hole that even Krueger will struggle to pull him out of. So far, he's managed to convince me to keep my monster hidden. He's in the process of bringing out Sadovsky's monster. And he's consigned Jenny Chennault to absolute silence, and although that's nothing unusual from the Cyclops, I like to imagine that he's actually bored her to sleep." Again, Ash willingly lets out a chuckle. Stretching against the tree, Ash pushes his hands up above his head and cracks his knuckles with one swift movement. With a little grunt, he adjusts his position against the tree and looks to the camera, still smiling. Ash: "I really don't know what Keith is expecting from us next Sunday. I mean, Sadovsky has played right into his hands and is ready to unleash the beast. I've been on the receiving end of an out of control Pyotr Sadovsky, and I'm man enough to admit that he beat me a couple of times. I can't come up with any excuses. He even took the Fighting Spirit Championship from me. The Raging Russian is just too over-bearing to handle and I'm really not sure if that is something the Tin Man wants to deal with. I'm not entirely sure if it's something I want to deal with myself, but if that's what Kimberly thinks is best for Sadovsky's career, who am I to argue." Rather than a chuckle, this time it is a sly smirk that creeps onto Ash's face. Only for a moment, though, as he reaches for his bottle of Popsi and takes a hit on the fizzy cola contents. Ash: "And I've already said Phoenix isn't coming out to play, so Keith's already suffered a blow to his plans. The proverbial kick in the balls." He takes another swig of Popsi, then sets the bottle down and wipes at his mouth with the back of his left hand. Ash looks into the distance and smile warmly to himself. Ash: "What would winning on Sunday mean for me? Everything. It would mean everything to win the Dual Crown. And I don't mean that in a boyhood dream sort of way. When I was a kid, wrestling was never something I looked at. Wrestling didn't factor into my life until I was a teenager. As daft as it sounds, when I was a little boy, I wanted to be a bus driver." Turning to the camera, Ash lowers his shades and gives the camera a concerned look. He puts the shades back up and shakes his head whilst grinning. Ash: "Sounds silly saying it now, I guess. Still, winning the Dual Crown will obviously be the highlight of my career. I've been going for seventeen years and I've never captured a Championship with the same level of prestige as the Dual Crown. It'll go quite nicely with everything else I've done here, admittedly; my three-minute Flycore, my three runs with the Fighting Spirit Championship, my victory in the ReVolt Rumble and capturing the Grand Prix Championship. Not quite the grand slam, but for me, it's good enough to show off. Winning the Dual Crown certainly wouldn't put the period on the sentence that is my career, but it'll certainly put a few capital letters and fancy sentence enhancers in there for good measure." The warm smile returns to Ash's face as he continues staring into the distance. He reaches for the bottle of cola, but then changes his mind and runs his hands through his hair instead. Ash: "But not only that, it means I get to avenge the losses suffered to Sadovsky in the past. It means I get to stop Keith from getting his grubby little mits on the Dual Crown. And I finish Jenny's run at the top." Turning back to the camera once more, Ash cracks a smirk. Ash: "Don't confuse this with a willingness to put a fan favourite on the top of the mountain. Don't be mistaken by my motives. This is pure greed. I want the belts, I can't deny that. I want to hurt my three opponents, and I can't deny that either. Having the fans cheer for my and chant my name is a bonus that I love and cherish. Usually, it is not something I would sacrifice. But Sunday night, I will not pure their needs for entertainment and a hero they can believe in first. Sunday night, my needs are first and foremost. That Dual Crown is going to be mine." And with that, Ash grabs his bottle of Popsi and takes another swig on the contents. The smile fades from his face as Ash places the bottle back on the grass by his side. He looks over to check on the Grand Prix belt, then places his hands behind his head and lowers his body, looking ready to go to sleep. With Ash clearly having nothing else to say to the viewing audience, the scene quickly fades to a close. [end] |
