Feet dangling over the edge, Blink sits at end of a wooden bridge stationed in the middle of a nature park. Her eyes fixed on the moving water not currently occupied by any species of fish rather water striders that dance along the water creating a rippling effect everywhere they go.

Blink: What should I do?

Blink: I love everything about you. I wanted you to protect me because I always wanted you close. To give you a reason to always be there. But it wasn’t as though you ever needed a reason because at points where I was my lowest you were always there right beside me. Even when my problems had no bearing on you, you were always there to cheer me up. When people would turn their back, you would offer a hand. So yes, Catherine, I love you. I really do love you.

Emily: Then you found her and despair turned to relief, sadness to happiness all in the same second. You found yourself far too overjoyed to be with her and therefore did what you did and pronounced what you said.

Blink: Lady Emily…why did the first decision I have to make be so hard?

V: She’s not here.

Blink: Huh?

Looking up, Blink finds V standing resting his back against the wooden railing with hands shoved deep into his pockets.

Blink: I know, I was just thinking out loud.

V: About whether or not you’re a lesbian?

Blink: What?

Blink looks around as if concerned someone might have heard him. Luckily the only ones around show no real interest in what the two are talking about as they set their own picnic up by the stream.

V: That is what you’re thinking about, isn’t it?

Blink: Well…yeah, but you didn’t have to be so blunt.

V: But it is what you’re thinking about, why should I have to dance around it like it’s some personal secret?

Blink: It’s a very personal matter.

V: But not a secret. If you tell her it’s like telling the world, isn’t it?

No response over this from Blink who continues to look into the stream until V finally pushes himself away from the railing.

V: What a pain this is.

Without so much as a parting word, other than that, V takes his leave as Blink seems not to notice as her mind is still set on the water beneath her. Eventually, a small portion of the water becomes a reflection that catches Blinks attention and she turns to find Catherine standing at the end of the bridge looking back at her. Blink remains seated even as Catherine steps further onto the wooden planks and makes her way over taking the open spot next to her partner letting her legs dangle over the edge as well.

Catherine: Emily said you might be here thinking about something.

Blink: Yes.

For a moment, the two remain silent as the striders continue jumping from point to point.

Catherine: Summer, if you don’t—

Blink: I don’t.

Catherine: Huh?

Blink: I don’t love you.

Catherine: Oh.

Following the quick gaze toward her partner, Catherine looks back down at the water.

Catherine: Was it something Emily had said?

Blink: No. It was my decision; she had nothing to do with it.

“She”? Well that’s certainly a far stretch from “Lady Emily” isn’t it?

Blink: So if you’re going to be mad at anybody…

Catherine: I’m not mad. I’m not even surprised.

Blink: Really?

Catherine: Yeah, I guess I never really pegged you for that kind of woman. Oh well.

Blink: We can still be friends, can’t we?

Catherine rises up to her feet and gives her lap a quick dusting off.

Catherine: Of course. I’m gonna head off back to the gym, ‘kay? Jenny’s the partner I’m supposing, and Havok’s been…well, Havok.

Catherine begins making her way down the short bridge following a short chuckle when Blink turns with a sudden thought of realization.

Blink: Don’t you want to know why?

Catherine: Nah, I understand exactly how you feel so don’t worry about it.

With a wave, Catherine continues making her way down the park path as Blink continues to look on feeling somewhat guilty over her decision wondering if maybe it was a little too sudden.

Follow Pet's Twitter if you don't mind...you know, Pet being Pet. Also, she tends to mention it a fair bit. (NSFW)
