The scene fades in and we find ourselves in a high tech gymnasium. It is filled with all the latest fitness and work out machines, and even a fully sized wrestling ring. Inside the ring is a man pacing around, shouting into a cell phone, and off the sounds of it, he is not best pleased at what he is hearing.

As we slowly approach we notice that the man has hair that is near shoulder length blonde hair, tied neatly behind him into a ponytail. He has the typical designer stubble and as he turns fully in our direction, though not aware of our presence, it turns out to be none other than Mike Harrison. He continues to shout into the phone and we decide to stand back and wait for him to finish, though the high tech audio features of our camera are clearly picking up his voice and make it clear what he is saying. And unfortunately for Mike, the cameraman has forgotten to switch them off.

Mike Harrison: You want what?

His jaw drops.

Mike Harrison: You... you... you... want a divorce? What... I mean... what... seriously?

Silence engulfs the gym for a good minute before he speaks again.

Mike Harrison: What has brought this on? You’ve only just returned back to England for Christ sake, and you want a divorce? What have I done? What’s gone wrong? Seriously, answer me.

The answer caused a tear to roll down his cheek.

Mike Harrison: Look, I know you don’t want to hear what I have to say at the minute. You’re angry for some reason. So why don’t we talk this over? Once Sunday is over and done with, I’ll be on the first flight over to the England so we can sort this out, ok?

Mike’s jaw clenched tight at his wife’s response.

Mike Harrison: This is all about me fucking wrestling? You don’t want me to stay in the business?

A vein began to throb on the side of his head, and his face was getting redder with anger.

Mike Harrison: You have got to be fucking kidding me. Retire or divorce? Fucking hell Emily, that is a choice I can’t make right now... I mean, it isn’t that easy... No it isn’t easy Emily, imagine if I said retire from teaching or we’re getting a divorce, what would you do? You’d retire, well obviously we’re different then. Look, we’ll talk when I get over to England. What... you don’t want to talk now? You want a yes or no answer?

Mike smashed his hand down on the turnbuckle.

Mike Harrison: Look, we’ll talk about this. We needn’t rush into a decision... What? What is wrong with me wrestling, it earns money? No... no... no... no... it isn’t dangerous. I know what I am doing, Emily. I am the best at what I do... No... Fuck that, I am not going back to a normal day job. Oh, that’s how you’re playing it, well screw you then... see you in court you manipulative bitch!

He snapped the phone shut and then realised his mistake. He didn’t mean a single word of what he had just said. The last thing he wanted was a divorce. He loved his wife. He wanted to be with her for the rest of his life, and wanted no other girl. But now he had perhaps burnt that bridge, the only one open to any sort of makeup. He quickly opened the phone and hit speed dial.

Mike Harrison: Emily, I am sorry about what I just said. I’ll be on the first flight out, and I guess what I am saying is that you’re right. Maybe I do need to retire and focus on us, and not on some high in the sky belief that I will become a star. Look, don’t do or say anything to mine or your parents, I’ll be over on Monday morning your time. Love you.

Mike snapped the phone shut and at that moment he became aware of the camera. He shakes his head at not noticing them sooner, the last thing he needed was the FIW universe finding out about his personal problems. He turned his back on us and muttered something on his way to sitting down on a steel chair that is in the centre of the ring.

Mike Harrison: I guess you heard that... good for you, I guess.

Mike shrugs and remains seated on the steel chair, deciding that he cannot be bothered pacing around the ring. It had been a bad week so far, he had been threatened with a divorce that he had never seen coming, and had just taken part in a brutal training session that he could have done without. If there was one thing that Troy was good for, he wouldn’t let Mike drop his standards when training.

Mike Harrison: So you probably know that my wife has just asked for a divorce if I don’t retire. Well, I can promise you right now that I will do my best to stay on and fight here. But if the worst comes to the worst, then I guess this could be goodbye. And what a way to go out!

Mike smiles and places the phone into a pocket in his shorts.

Mike Harrison: In this match there are two very good looking teams, not in a physical sense except for myself, but, very good looking teams nonetheless. On one side we have Clay Krueger who is obviously carrying an injury, something that makes him a target; there is Christian Cruz and Shaun Wilson. All in all, a very good team, but it has an obvious weakness – Clay Kruger. I wonder what is driving you to compete this week, Clay. Are you trying to prove something to Drake Love? To the fans of the FIW? To the management of the FIW? Or perhaps you are trying to prove something to yourself, that you can make it as a singles wrestler, and that no one will ever put you out of action?

Mike shrugs.

Mike Harrison: For me, whatever your motivation, it is plain stupid. My team has no weakness whatsoever. You have a huge bulk of a man in Bo-Jack, what happens when he stamps down on your wrist? What happens when he sits on you, or splashes you from the top rope, or maybe even squashes you in the corner? Oh, that’s right. You’ll scream like a little girl, tears will well in the corner of your eyes. He could do a damn site more to you, and take you out of action for good. You know what else, Clay? That is what Bo-Jack can do to you, and he isn’t as mean and vindictive as Drake or me.

Mike smiles and unties his pony tail and steps out of the ring. He jumps down from the apron and lands gracefully on the floor.

Mike Harrison: Clay, at the end of the day, you are the weak link in your team. Do you honestly think that any of us is going to focus on Christian or Shaun? Fuck that. They are fit and strong, and have no obvious weakness – but you do!

Mike smirk grows smugger as he rubs his hands mockingly at the camera.

Mike Harrison: You experienced firsthand the type of pain and punishment that Drake can dish out. Do you think he’s going to go easy on you this week? Unlikely, but even if he does go easy on you and doesn’t focus on your wrist of aching body, I will. I am a technical wrestler. I am clinical and brutal. I am the type of wrestler who zones in on an opponent’s weakness and never let’s go. I continue to wear down that area, that limb, that zone and I don’t stop. I beat down on it. I lock in hold after hold. And soon or later that person will reach their breaking point, and believe me Clay, you will hit that breaking point... and perhaps breaking is a convenient word.

Mike snaps his wrist back, the motion clearly showing that he would do a similar thing to Clay but go even further back and actually snap it. He grins and brushes back his blonde hair behind his ears.

Mike Harrison: I admire your fighting spirit, Clay, but you will be broken this week. Whether it is by me zoning in on your wrist and aching body, or whether it is Bo-Jack sitting his fat arse onto your wrist and aching body, or whether it is Drake Love doing what he does best. No matter what, you will not escape, and you will not be shown any mercy. You will beg for mercy before the night is out, and I predict that you will be checking into your local hospital at the end of the night for a nice... long... stay!

He emphasised each word for effect, and walked towards the door.

Mike Harrison: And as for my other opponents, you obviously both have issues with Clay and each other, so it is going to be fun to see how you work together. If I was in your position, I wouldn’t help him. I would let him suffer. I would let him get beat down by us three, beaten to within an inch of his life... again. And sure, it might put a notch on your record, an unwanted defeat, but I am sure it would be worth watching Clay squirm. I might be wrong, I might have misheard and interpreted. But I couldn’t care less right now. I know who the weak link is. I know who I will be focusing on. And to be honest, I fancy my chances against you two as well.

Mike opens the door and takes a step outside, but turns and addresses the camera for the final time.

Mike Harrison: This week, we will win... end of, comprende?

He smiles and leaves the gym and the door swings shut with a thud, and with that our scene fades to black.
