Spiral Out, Keep Going

The scene opens in a dark room. Where we are isn't matter. It could be a closet for all it really matters. The point is it is Rurik Krychek, the Grand Prix Champion. He is, as far as we can tell, completely alone in this room where he seems to sit on the floor, his legs in a lotus position. There's no reason for that other than to show off his ability to stretch into his thirties. The Championship is in his lap, but it's almost entirely drowned out by the singular light source from behind that camera which also makes Krychek paler than he normally is. Krychek: I find it interesting Monsieur Cruz has chosen a biblical parallel. Not because I am obviously very against the Christian doctrine and mythology. I know he and I can at least appreciate the great story and when applicable apply pieces where it suits us. No, I find it interesting because just last night I personally wrote down in my diary drawing biblical comparisons myself... And it speaks a very great volume of the way we see each other. I personally wrote of our similarities, but diverged into our differences. "Black and white. Day and night. Cain and Abel." I didn't realize until I began thinking about his biblical parallel compared to my own and what both meant, what I meant perhaps on a subconscious level. You see I said Cain and Abel. If the Christian and Qur'an bibles are to be believed they were the first brothers. Clearly I see Monsieur Cruz as an equal, a brother. Not as in the Brotherhood, but a brother as we are all brothers and sisters on this earth. Perhaps closer than most as we share views. We are akin to each other. But Monsieur Cruz sees things differently if one may infer from his own parallel. Where as I draw us as equals and brothers, he says that this match is "Rurik Krychek versus 'the Adam of his labours." He puts me on the level of a God. Cruz nor myself believes, if I may speak for him, that I created him either literally or figuratively. And is he not in some way accurate? I at the very least breathed new life into his career by extending a hand to him for the Cruiserweight invitational last year. The differences are clear as to how we view the other. Conscious or sub-consciously I have placed us as equals, he has placed me on a higher pedestal. A very interesting inference from his first few words, if I may say so. The despot seems a bit awkward as he addresses us. There is no where for him to move and expend a bit of energy. He's forced to just sit here and talk. No mock news-cast, no fancy set to interact with to make points. And perhaps that is the point. It's just him and his mind. Amongst the barest of set-ups he does. Krychek: I am almost touched that Monsieur Cruz has kept the message I sent him last year inviting him to the invitational, and as he pointed out the First Great Siberian Tragedy. If there were a museum dedicated to turning points in FIW history I daresay that might belong there. After all if it were not for that note, that message I sent to the monster that is Monsieur Cruz, he wouldn't have ended up in FIW. Such a small artifact, but such big consequences. It's amazing how such a small piece of paper has produced injuries, broken bones, retirements. It seems even that stars of yesteryear like Pyotr Sadovsky and Keith Williams and Drake Love can't even keep up with the monster. Rick Nuller is out, perhaps indefinitely. Robert Black felt a broken arm... It's quite the tour of destruction and tragedy Monsieur Cruz has had these past six months. A monster wreaking havoc on knowing but unsuspecting fools. But, no... No, that's far too simplistic to describe his art. He doles out pain he feels necessary to create a story as the director of this tale--comedy or tragedy. Giving when it suits him, but willing to take it all away. A monster preying on emotions, a devil enjoying every amount of pain he deals... That's very apt. The Spaniard devil he is, giving us just one more biblical simile. Cain and Abel, God and the Devil. I... I despise religion for the evils it commits, but this is a battle that no matter how I may want to fight against the labels, is one that could be of biblical proportions. The parallels are there, and who am I to deny such vivid and poignant labels to this battle that could be the end of my journey back to the top of this industry? Reaching up the quote unquote hero of this story uses his hand to rub his facial hair, smoothing it out as he stares into the camera. The bags under his eyes show as he shifts slightly to where the light no longer whites it out. Is it fear or anticipation that has cost this man sleep? Krychek: Of all the people in this story I am not the fool. I know very well you will hurt me if you can. Permanently injure me if it pleases you. I'm not stupid, and I wouldn't ask or warn you against your ways. I simply ask that if you seek to injure me... Don't do the job half-assed. If you intend to bend me until I break get it done right. I know very well I will continue coming back to this industry time and again. Wrestling has always seemd to be the means to whatever ends I desire. If I am not quote unquote destined to become the Dual Crown Champion this Sunday end the story. Do it well. Do it hard. Put my out of my misery, dear friend. The Siberian leans forward, deliberately casting shadows as his talk gets darker. He has known for a long time that the business forces people to keep coming back and back long after they're broken and useless, and knowing as we do the contents of that diary entry last night this match means more than just the titles, it is an acknowledgment of his mental prowess. I didn't make this monster, but I let him loose. I can't take that back, nor would I try or ask forgiveness for using tools to meet an end... But mark my words I will show the monster that he can bend, and break, and torture the mere mortal beneath him... But the God he acknowledges subconsciously will put him down this Sunday and make him feel the bitter cold taste of a tragedy fit for the Spaniard Devil. C'mon, biblical quiz. Who gets why he put stress on the word 'mark'? But with that the Revolutionary reaches off screen and pulls in some sort of a device. It's about the size of a remote control, with one knob on the top. He twists it and produces a beep. He proceeds to continue the tradition of the Morse code for this feud, and I sure do hope people other than myself and Skell have been following along the secretive jabs. The following be the product of the long and short beeps he makes. .... . / .--. . .-. -.-. .... . ... / .. -. / - .... . / ... -.- -.-- --..-- / .... .. ... / - .-. .- --. . -.. -.-- / .... . .-- -. .-.-.- .- / ... -- .. .-.. . / --- -. / .... .. ... / ..-. .- -.-. . / ..-. --- .-. / - .... . / ... --- ..- .-.. ... / ... - .-. . .-- -. --..-- ..-. --- .-. / . .- -.-. .... / -.. . -.-. .- -.-- . -.. / -... --- -.. -.-- / --- -. / -.. .. ... .--. .-.. .- -.-- .-.-.- - .... . / .-. . ...- --- .-.. ..- - .. --- -. / ... . . -.- ... / --- -. . / -- --- .-. . / -.-. --- ..- .--. - --- / .-. . -- .. -. -.. / .... .. -- / --- ..-. / .... .. ... / .--. .-.. .- -.-. . / .. -. / - .... .. ... / --. .-. . .- - / .--. .-.. .- -.-- .-.-.- - .... . / -.. . ...- .. .-.. / .... .- ... / .... .- -.. / -- .- -. -.-- / .- / -.. .- -.-- --..-- .... .. ... / -.. . -.-. . -- -... . .-. / .- .--. .--. .-. --- .- -.-. .... . ... / ... --- / ... --- --- -. --..-- .- -. -.. / - .... . .-. . / ..-. .. -. .- .-.. .-.. -.-- / - .... . / -- --- -. ... - . .-. / .-- .. .-.. .-.. / -... . / ... .-.. .- .. -. .-.-.- .-..-. -- . -- --- .-. .. .- -- / --- ..-. / - .... . / ... .--. .- -. .. .- .-. -.. / -.. . ...- .. .-.. .-..-. And with that the camera is clicked off from off-screen and we're thrust into a black void. And just that quickly in just a few short days we'll know whether Cruz intends to end Krychek's career for the sake of it or if Krychek will end the six month reign of the Spaniard Devil. |
