It's no surprise who Kim Coulter is riding in a limo with right now. It's literally given away in the topic description. But yes. She's not traveling around with Nathaniel Alexander, or Stephen J. Eversol, or Darian Gray, or even Clay Krueger. Instead, it's the youngest member of the Coulter Crew and one half of the World Tag Team Champions. Just because they're riding together doesn't mean they're actually best friends as it's awkwardly silent in the limo. Kim is on her phone, as usual. Caleb is quiet, as usual. "You're awfully quiet, Mr. Claudel." Caleb glances in her direction and says nothing. His expression gives nothing of a response either. "I've noticed you've been pretty quiet ever since you agreed to join my Crew. You only speak when you absolutely have to. You don't spend much time with the rest of your stablemates. In fact, you went along for a celebration the other week for the new Fighting Spirit Champion." "I recall your presence there as well." The corner of Kim's lips twitch up into something of a smile at that retort. "Still. Have we not made you feel like one of our own?" "I'm not one of you." Kim's eyes narrow at his defiance. "You have no problem enjoying the perks of being one of us. Title matches spring to mind." "I was World Tag Team Champion before the Crew. But you are right that you opened that door back up for me. I have expressed my gratitude for such. Are you expecting me to kneel down and kiss your feet like Nathaniel does?" "I expect you to be a member of the Crew. We all rise up together because we all work together." Caleb shrugs his shoulders and glances out the window. "If you don't want to work with the Crew, I am sure we can find a replacement for you." "So, that's it, huh? If I don't bend to your will then I get out of the way?" "This isn't about bending to anyone's will. It's war. Orion has declared war on the Crew. The same man who denied you anything after the Brick Sharks dissolved. A man who failed to see your potential. Failed to see your worth. A man who replaced you with Keith Williams as soon as he had the chance." "And now here we sit with you threatening to replace me as well." Kim laughs. "I want you to fight for something, Caleb. You didn't fight for that spot in Team FIW. Are you going to fight for the Crew? Because if you don't fight for either, then why are you here?" Caleb remains silent. He continues to stare out the window as the scenery passes them by. "The battle lines have been drawn. You're either FIW or you're the Crew or… or you're irrelevant. Which one will you be?" After a moment, Caleb looks over at Kim. "I guess I'm part of the family." She smiles smugly and returns to her phone. "We are family." Caleb returns his attention to the outside world passing him by with no change in his expression whatsoever. "Johnny Amazing is leading his band of misfits into battle against our family. Now, I know that you and Johnny were very close. I know that you and the Dream had some semblance of a friendship. He came and checked on you that one time you were in the hospital. Concussion, I believe it was. You all watched the Simpsons together. How cute." Kim pays far more attention to her phone than Caleb as she rolls down memory lane. Caleb continues to stare out the window, his expression stone cold. "But that didn't interfere with their careers. When it came to your efforts at a solo career, they were nowhere to be found. Worried you would take their place. It's an understandable fear. One that the Crew doesn't play in. There is a place for every single member of my Crew without jeopardizing the success of one another." Someone far more snarky could probably dispute that with the in-fighting we've seen between Nathaniel and Eversol, Nathaniel and Clay, and Nathaniel and Darian. Anyone noticing a theme? Kim ignores all of this. "Then there is the Alpha Wolves. So readily they turned on you. So readily they were to rip you to shreds. As if you had never been on the same side as them. No sympathy. No concern for why you did what you did. No effort to help save you. Just… enemy. Target. Prey. That's what you became to them." She glances over at Caleb, but he's still not paying attention. "And finally Keith Williams. The man who returned and got everything, didn't he? Attention. Eversol's girlfriend. Your spot at Rise of a Legend. And now he's Johnny's best friend. Why, he almost is you. With more backing from the company." The slightest of emotions show on Caleb's face as his lips press together momentarily and his eyes narrow. It's fleeting before he lets it go. "The Crew supports their own. Even if we don't always agree with one another. That is what a family really is. That is what you're a part of now." "I said I was." "Yes. You did. You said it. Now show it on Friday." The limo comes to a stop and after only a moment the door opens and Kim exits. Caleb glances after her, hesitating a moment before exiting behind her. |
