The scene opens on Freakshow and his manager in the parking garage, the manager that isn't a devil-man and is his mom instead. They're presumably getting ready to head out to the next location, the big one, the pay-per-view, Anarchy in the U.K.

"It'll be nice, you havin' a belt again, won't it sweetie," Marley's saying as the two walk.

"Gotta get through Stanton first, ma..."

"Hey."

A voice calls out to them friendly enough, the camera panning to the side of them to look over Freakshow's shoulder at Joe Stanton. The Fighting Spirit Champion hasn't come alone, walking up with a smile and his title belt wrapped around his waist.

" [size0]speak of the devil," Freakshow mutters,
turning towards the reigning Fighting Spirit Champ and resting his hands on his hips ready for whatever Joe wants.

"There's a distinct lack of dorky interviewers wanderin' around here. Y'sure you're not lost?"

That gets a laugh out of Joe, and he taps the side of his eye socket.

"Keep an ever constant vigilance for 'em. And, remember..."

Tensing up, his features turn grave and Joe stares Freakshow dead in the eye.

"Never feed them after midnight."

This deathly serious tone cracks when Joe smiles at the man in front of him. He eyes him up and down, like he's sizing him up for the first time. Despite that, his body language is all loosey goosey and relaxed.

"No, I know where I am. And, this must be the place."

He gestures to all around them before pointing at Freakshow.

"Because here you are."

That pointing finger becomes an open hand, Joe offers it to the other man.

"I wanted to do the right thing here. Or, what I figure is the right thing. I wanted to come down here as champion and extend this gesture to my challenger. Bring your best, however you may interpret that, and let's give them a show, eh?"

Clearing his throat, Joe's still pretty friendly to the other man. But it's clear there's a weight of seriousness to his tone when he addresses him, still with his hand outstretched.

The even gaze Freakshow had affixed on Stanton while the Scarlet Speedster spoke was interrupted after a moment's pause by a solitary "heh" from the Scion of Sin that evolved into a full on chortle. His mother gave him a sidelong glance, then crossed her arms across her chest and stared disapprovingly at Joe.

"I dunno what I actually expected," Freakshow said, a small quake of laughter still in his chest. He extended his hand as well, pausing just shy of their palms touching. "That's what's makes this fun, y'know. Last time I took a belt off of someone, I knew what I was up against."

His hand closed around Joe's firmly, and a threatening smile flickers at the corners of his mouth as he locks eyes with Stanton.

"But thanks for the marchin' orders, Sarge. I was totally plannin' on throwin' the whole thing 'till you told me to bring my best."

Marley Haynes rolls her eyes in the background at her son's sarcasm. Her son hasn't let go of Joe's hand just yet. The handshake on Joe's end is firm too, maybe a little too firm, but the only one that knows that for sure is Freakshow. The gleam in the champion's green eyes convey an undertone of danger.

"I feel you, soldier."

Stanton says through a chuckle with a play edge to his voice, his teeth baring themselves in a grin.

"It's what makes this worth while, you know? Dealing with all the business jargon, with the suits and their college degree vocabulary, with all the endless amounts of paperwork and boring red tape. With all the crybabies and the quitters, with the guys that are too damn full of themselves to ever even entertain the idea of breaking a nail. This...This...This..."

His grip on Freakshow's hand tightens, not out of aggression, but excitement by the way Joe's eyes are lighting up. The energy coming off of him, off of his features are practically electrifying.

"God damn, it makes you feel alive in a way nothing else can."

His grin settles down, becoming more of a coy smile. The adrenaline slows and the champion's in more control of himself again, still looking his challenger in the eye.

"Looking forward to it."

There's some gravel that comes with that sentiment, something almost primal about it.

One of Freakshow's eyebrows cocks, and the camera angle makes us realize just how close the two men are standing while staring intensely into each other's eyes.

"Y'know, if this was one of them fanfics, we'd probably kiss right now," he said, voice low and gravelly. "Too bad fer them, I ain't the last guy Bob repped."

He steps back, letting go of Stanton's hand so that he can turn and start sauntering back to where his mom is standing. Once there, he stops to look back over his shoulder at Joe.

"Super dig the intensity, though. I'm looking forward to it too."

Joe's still amused about the little jab Freakshow made, shrugging his shoulders and nodding.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, if the e-mails and DMs I've received over the years are any indication, StanWynn, ScarletBlood, IntenStantonity, and even LucaStanton are all pretty popular. Trust me, they've got some dedicated fans."

Freakshow's stopped as what starts out as a confident declaration turns more into like Joe may have innocently read some things he can never unsee. His eyes drifting off into a thousand yard stare that's broken by a shudder. He gets some of his swagger back to point after Freakshow.

"And, I got a pretty good feeling this rubber match's going to end just like how those stories end. With me. On top."

The Fighting Spirit Champion says that with perhaps more pride than he should.

"And, you a mess beneath me."

Definitely shouldn't be saying that as proudly as he is. Firing off his "gun", Joe winks at Freakshow with a smile.

"Catch you later, soldier."

On that vivid imagery, Joe Stanton turns his back on Freakshow and he heads over to the other side of the parking garage. Likely to a Winnebago.

Freakshow's cocked his at the Scarlet Speedster's Slash Soliloquy, lips pursed, eyebrows furrowed, because he definitely didn't realize how far that rabbit hole went and how far Stanton had slid down it.

"Let's get outta here before he gets weirder," Freakshow muttered, crossing the rest of the pavement to his Momager and keeping on going. "And whatever happens, I won't be a mess."
