We are at the King Street Townhouse in Manchester. And yes, it's as fancy and expensive as it sounds! Probably the most expensive place to stay in Manchester. Harley Torres, dressed far too casually for a place like this!, is at the front desk alongside West Coast Champion Ryan Keys. You all remember Ryan from the accidentally televised break-up of Harley and Jericho Cruz, right? Ryan is being returned his credit card by the very posh looking gentleman at the front desk while Harley wears a prominent cringe upon his features, even as Ryan is handed a printed copy of his receipt and the two of them are motioned towards the bank of elevators that will carry them to their room. "Ow. That physically hurt to watch. I'm so sorry." Carrying his suitcase along with the backpack strapped to his back, Harley's cringe has been overtaken by his apologetic frown. "I swear I didn't know I had to be here or else we could have gotten some place cheaper before they were all sold out." Ryan carries his suit case, letting out a short sigh as he put the receipt away on his back pocket. Shaking his head he looks over at Harley, finding it very hard to be upset. "Harley... it's okay. To be honest I would have taken this place even if we knew we were coming." His blue eyes meet the others until a gentle smile appearance on Keys's face as they reach the elevators. Quickly pressing the button they wait for it to come down. "Now we're here, it's paid for, so we can look past it and just get you ready. I got something special for you." Harley raises an eyebrow curiously at the insinuation of getting a present. It's hard for him to hide the excited smile that lights up his face. "A present? For me? What is it?!" He ignores the elevator to tug on Ryan's arm and try to wrangle the surprise out of him much sooner than intended. It may have worked as well if when the elevator doors open they didn't reveal Caleb Claudel standing there looking very little like Caleb Claudel in his three-piece suit more commonly found on the likes of Nathaniel Alexander, Stephen J. Eversol, Darian Gray, or Clay Krueger. "Harley?" His name snaps the younger Brick Shark out of his excitement and he turns to spot the very different looking best friend that he grew up with. Harley's face loses all excitement and joy that sprouted up just a moment ago and he looks a lot like he's being confronted with the ex of a terrible break-up. Though, that's not even close to what happened. "Uh... Caleb? Hey…" Caleb steps out of the elevator, a smile spreading across his face that is almost cold enough to send a chill down Harley's spine. He even chuckles a little and shakes his head. "I didn't expect to see you here. I mean, here." He chuckles again as he motions to the ground beneath their feet. "And Ryan's here. Hey Ryan." Caleb looks the boyfriend up and down with that same smile that cools the usually warm expressions we've come to know from Caleb prior to his association with the Coulter Crew. "Caleb, what a surprise to see you. Didn't know you could get a room here." Ryan's cold blue eyes are set on the others, sizing him up indirectly as his features harden. Grabbing hold of Harley's hand Ryan's very protective of him. As the tension rises up he needs Harley there to hold him back knowing what this guy has put his brick shark through. "Heh. Sure." Caleb eyes the hand holding on display and his smile spreads a little wide as he looks back up at the two men before him. "Say, you wanna catch up, Har? I'm just heading out. I could buy you a drink. You know you're legal over here and, I'm not trying to brag, but maybe you want to try something with a little class." Harley looks up at Ryan and gives his hand a gentle squeeze. "Can you take the bags up to the room? I'll be there in a minute." Ryan keeps his eyes focused on Caleb, giving everything he wanted to do a second thought, maybe third. Squeezing Harley's hand a bit more he has to break the stare to look down at him. Harley's gentle features makes it hard for him to say no. "Alright. You got a minute. I don't like you wasting your time." He says directing it towards Caleb as he takes both their bags, plus Harley's backpack. Gathering it all up he looks at Harley once more, slowly leaning in to press his lips against the smaller man’s for a soft kiss. Whispering to Harley to hurry and come back to him, before Ryan walks off. Stepping inside the elevator, ignoring Caleb completely. "A minute. I mean that." Slowly the elevator doors close once Ryan presses the floor number up to their room, getting him out of view from Harley. "Sheesh. He's got that leash a little tight, huh?" "Stop it." Harley sighs, but still manages to put up a little bit of a fight against the new Coulter Crew attitude oozing off of Caleb. Caleb grins and holds his hands up in surrender. "I'm not looking to fight with you. But, uh, I saw that Baumer Report. I mean, typically I don't read trash but when my name is mentioned… why wouldn't you be here to cheer me on?" "I didn't write it. I don't know." "You don't know? So, that news story just came outta nowhere?" Harley shrugs his shoulders, looking far less interested in this than Caleb is. "Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you're… being a…" He can't even bring himself to say whatever it is that Caleb is being. But if you've been paying attention, you can pretty much find your own adjective to use. "Harley, I'm surviving. If that's a problem for you, then maybe you shouldn't have left. Maybe you shouldn't have cared more about Jericho Cruz than us. Maybe you shouldn't have ran off with your Surfer Dude and stuck around to repair things with the Brick Sharks. Maybe then things would be different." "You're the one who ended us. You're the one that told me we needed time apart. You're the one who…" Harley trails off with a sigh and shakes his head. "I'm not fighting with you about this. I made mistakes and you're right that I could have stuck around. But what was the point? You wanted to be just Caleb. You didn't want to be the Brick Sharks. Well… I don't know if I like just Caleb. I don't know if anybody does." Caleb lowers his head and sighs as he shakes it from side to side. After a moment, he shrugs his shoulders and looks up at Harley. "Harley, look at me." He holds his arms out at his sides so that Harley can get an even better look at his suit. "I may not be the most well-liked man on the roster right now, but I'm World Tag Team Champion. I'm carrying gold. I'm dressed in a suit I never would have been able to afford. I'm staying in a hotel that you and I never would have seen the inside of. Let me guess, you felt bad because your boyfriend had to pay for this, didn't you?" What the? How did? Nah, Harley is only stunned for a moment before he looks down. He's not surprised Caleb knows he can't afford this. "I never even saw a bill. That's where I'm at right now. And I don't care if people don't like me. When people liked me… I was nobody. Match after match that meant nothing but another failure. That's not what I got into this for. And maybe I don't like who just Caleb is anymore, but it's a lot easier to deal with when I lay my head here than at some roach motel in the bad part of town." Harley still isn't looking at Caleb and the older man goes quiet for a long moment, just watching Harley. "Look, Harley. This isn't easy, but it gets easier. Even staring down the face of the first-ever Tag Team Panopticon, I'm feeling good about myself. I'm feeling good about my chances. Do you think Ninja Blood Explosion: COMPLEX really believes that they're at the top of the heap? They wouldn't be screaming it at the top of their lungs if they were that confident in themselves. Sang-Hyun Lee and Yuki Sakuraba are too busy making googly eyes at each other to really understand what they're in for. The Badd Breed are as irrelevant as Los Templarios Magicos - why do you think they have nothing to say for themselves? And Alpha Wolves? Gus Richlen, of course, has plenty to say but we've heard it all before. And we'll hear it all again. As soon as he hits the repeat button." Caleb shrugs her shoulders in what looks like it's meant to be apology, but he doesn't look very apologetic about it. "Clay and I are the World Tag Team Champions and while it's almost impossible to guarantee victory in a Panopticon - especially one of this nature. He and I have the best shot of surviving this. And we're going to survive it as the World Tag Team Champions. And from there, who knows where else we're going to go? There's three singles titles out there that I could throw my name into at any time now that I've got Kim working my name out there. The Fighting Spirit Championship needs Coulter Crew representation and I'm more than willing to be that representative." Harley still doesn't look at Caleb, but his head slowly shakes from side to side. "But you're not you." "I was a loser. So, I'll be someone else. And honestly, Harley… you could be someone else too." Now Harley looks up at Caleb, shock and surprise all over his face as he tries to wrap his brain around what Caleb just said to him. "Screw that Baumer Report, you could be here to not only cheer me on but to throw your name into the Coulter Crew hat. Imagine it. We were amazing together. One of the best tag teams this company has ever seen. What do you think we could accomplish with Kim Coulter at our backs? Fighting Spirit Champions. FIW Championship." Harley takes a step back. "Johnny's FIW Champion." Caleb just shrugs his shoulders at the mention of their friend who happens to hold the top title in the company. "Maybe. Maybe not for much longer." Harley sighs and shakes his head, taking a step towards the elevator and away from Caleb. After a moment of hesitation, he presses the button to call for it. "Harley. Think about it." He glances over his shoulder at Caleb behind him but before he can say anything, the doors open in front of him. He takes a breath and steps into the elevator. "Harley." His name coming from Caleb stops him from pressing the button. "Think about your career and not your boyfriend." Harley takes in a deep breath, holds it, and then presses the button for his floor. The doors close between him and Caleb, leaving the Coulter Crew member to shake his head before heading off to whatever event the Coulter Crew members are getting VIP treatment to. |
