The scene opens on Joe Stanton, he's walking through the hallways of a nameless hotel. It looks pretty nice, expensive even, a stark contrast to the jeans & flannel look Joe has going. This contrast doesn't change when he enters the hotel bar and walks with a purpose to the bar.

"...Hey."

The Scarlet Speedster tries to say cheerfully, though with apparent gauging and trepidation when he sits down next to April. She startles at the sudden appearance of someone next to her, and she doesn't ease that much when she sees who it is. If anything, she gets a little uncomfortable on her bar stool and pretty invested in her drink in front of her.

"Uh, hey. How's it going, champ?"

Doing something akin to a duck face, he glances around and he shrugs his shoulders. Throwing up his hands, he plops them down on the bar in front of him.

"Oh, you know, had a big guy with charm the size of Texas gunning for the title. So, same as it ever was. Same as it ever was."

There's a joking tone to that, like some unsaid reference both of them will get.

"But that's not what brought me here."

Joe surveys the bar, examining the bottles of alcohol...and then looking straight at April. There's something that hits Joe, he gets more awkward the longer he stares at her.

"I know it's ancient history, but I never really got to and I wanted to apologize for how everything went down between us. After Vegas. I knew the deal, and I still let my head get twisted and complicated things that didn't need to be complicated. Made things awkward for you."

Clearing his throat, he's surprisingly casual about the topic yet looking like he's struggling opening up like this. Though he looks unsure if it will be that simple on her end.

"It's fine."

April responds a little too quickly to that, almost awkwardly in fact. She senses this and stares down into her drink a little harder, swirling it with her straw before taking a breath and looking over at him.

"I mean... I get it. I didn't make that easy for you. And none of it was your fault. So, I'm sorry."

Joe's eyebrows slowly lift higher and higher up his features, he wasn't expecting this. He looks a little dumbstruck even. Lost.

"If you say so, but still. I'm an adult, I can admit when I was in the wrong. I could've handled it better. [size0]I could've handled a lot of things better."

Half muttering that last part under his breath, he looks around at their surroundings again and he scoots closer to the bar. His eyes falling to his hands, looking at them intensely.

"What I'm getting at, I'm hoping anything I've done hasn't kept you from being happy. Or, from finding happiness with someone good for you."

The nerves on Joe are getting a little shaky now, not liking the thought he puts out about his actions effecting her. Though he gives a sideways glance when he adds the last part.

"Ha."

That's almost a laugh. She's smiling, at least. Though, it's not exactly one of delight or joy.

"Joe, you've not been the reason I've been unable to be happy. I've struggled to find that long before you came along. And yeah, for a minute I thought I had found it in you. But things got messy and I know where you really want to be."

She shrugs her shoulders and smiles over at him.

"The thing was Mike was... what it was. And now Dream..."

With another shrug, she looks more at a loss for words than I can possibly put... uh, into words.

"He's innocent, you know? Of course you know. I like it. But I don't know if I'm good for it. For him."

There isn't a whole lot for Joe to like about what April says, frowning when she admits her unhappiness to him. Though there's a momentary look of confusion at the where he'd want to be comment, it only intensifies when she brings up Mike. Wondering what he's got to do with anything, it passes and his frown returns.

"April, where I want to be is there for my friends. To see them be happy. To help them be happy, if I'm needed."

Earnestly he tries to convince her of that, placing a hand on her shoulder and turning so that he's more properly facing her.

"He really is a good guy, and you're a good gal. From what I can tell, you're good for each other and you both make each other happy. Don't let the fact you got caught up in other people's bullshit, mine included, keep you gun shy and keep you guys apart."

A smile is coming back to Joe when he thinks about The Dream, threatening to become a grin. It becomes softer and more subdued when he addresses her, shaking his head when he talks about April's past luck.

"You know, you could take your own advice. But I know it wasn't just my bullshit that has screwed you up."

A sad smile that looks to be some form of apology for her contributed bullshit as just part of what makes up Joe's past when it comes to relationships. His brow furrows, looking like Joe's either not sure why she's apologizing or wanting to argue the point.

"Besides, you deserve to be happy too. Not just the guy who helps his friends be happy."

She finishes off her drink before sliding off her stool, placing a hand on Joe's shoulder as she stands beside him.

"Don't worry about me, Joe. Don't worry about Dream. I think we'll be fine. It's you that I'm worried about."

Lowering just a tad bit so that she can catch his gaze and his complete attention, if she didn't already have it. Frowning, Joe looks like he's questioning why she'd be worried about him.

"You look tired. Get some sleep."

She pats his shoulder before making her way from the bar and likely back to her room. The Scarlet Speedster sits there long enough for her to leave the bar, glancing up at the shelving behind the bar and at his reflection. Examining himself in the glass, he looks like he's determining what gave her the idea he's tired.

"You want anything, sir?"

It looks like the bartender's noticed Joe, he waves off the bartender and shakes his head, hopping off of his stool.

"Naw, I'm good. Thanks though."

Hastily the champion states, waving off the bartender again to reassure him of him being okay. The bartender mutters something under his breath and leaves Joe to take his exit from the bar.
