The Humans

Making their home in the harsh, mountainous Hinterlands, to the north of Empheria, the Humans have only established themselves as a true nation in the past 100 years. Many Humans pass down stories of their ancestors from Earth, and some even still arrive, falling from pipes in the sky, or simply waking up in the wilderness, claiming the last moments they remember were on Earth. Some even from time periods separated by centuries! Humans have been sporadically arriving here this way for around 400 years. Some spend their entire lifetimes using leftover science and technology, or new found magick to find a way back to Earth.
Humans all speak a common tongue, which is based in English, with a diverse array of ethnic influences, resulting in a New Yorkish sounding language simply called human. Most of the population was born here at this point, and views this world as home. In the past 100 years, since the building of Stronghold, the Humans have begun to expand their borders and settle rolling plains, dark forests, and snowy mountains of the Hinterlands. They build cities and towns throughout the western side of the continent, and a frontier of small towns and villages quietly expands north and east, past the mountains and the great inland sea, called the salt lake. They build their structures from stone, steel, wood, and ancestral remnants of Earth taken along through the pipes.
Stronghold has become a very major port, given its location and the neutral, business-like attitude of most Humans. It lies on the north-western coast of the Hinterlands, with easily navigated trade routes connecting to Moebius, Hyrule, Fungopolis, and Y'oster Isle, as well as land routs into Emphyria.
They follow a monarchy, with a royal lineage tracing all the way back to the legendary Mario brothers. Their current King is a decaying old man named Uther. His only son died of pneumonia when he was just an infant, and he has never named an heir.

The world of Fallen Dreams is deeply tied to magick of many sorts, and all Races that find themselves here feel its pull. Humans are naturally attuned to the Arcane element of Fire. There are rare cases of Humans born here being naturally attuned with Ice or Lightning, but such cases are rare. The fire in all Humans reveals its self through the Flower Spell, Fireball. Any human can cast this spell simply by blowing through a fireflower.
Humans are highly adaptive, and capable of excelling in any field they set their mind on. The great city of Stronghold was built by a small, like-minded workforce in less than five years! No longer are the Humans considered new to this world. They have earned their place through technology and fair trade, and are seen by many as the peace keepers of the world.

Tier 1 Racial Abilities

Aptitude (P)- Humans' natural aptitude makes them all fast learners, thus it requires less experience for them to increase their level.

Fiery Spirit- Some Humans have more magick in them than others, and can summon fireballs from within, without the use of a fireflower. The attack costs 1 FP.

Electric/Icy Nature (P)- A few Humans are attuned to Lightning or Ice, rather than Fire. Their fireball flower spell is replaced with either Arc or Frost.

Sensible- Humans are known for their ability to negotiate fair trade, and talking their way out of tight situations. By spending 1 FP, they gain a bonus to all social maneuvers for a scene.

Electric/Icy Spirit- (prerequisite Alternate Nature) As with “Fiery Spirit,” a Human with an Alternate Nature of Lightning or Ice can summon forth their flower spell at the cost of 1 FP.

Common Sense (P)- Humans have a keen ability to find simple, logical paths to take in most any situation. A Human with Common Sense can use this ability to effectively judge a situation before taking action. The player will be made aware when potential actions are stupid/suicidal/dangerous.

Sub-race Kantonese

The Kantonese are a society of technophile Humans who inhabit an archipelago in the Inner Ring, known as the Republic of Kanto. Most Kantonese are of Asian or Indian descent, though many other Humans join the Republic regularly. The Kantonese share their island-nation with a unique type of animal called Pocket Monsters, or Pokemon for short. They use these diverse creatures for sporting competitions as well as agriculture and industry. Because they rely on pokemon for much of their civilization's prosperity, the Kantonese have been free to develop their unique culture and profound technology to an exquisite level. Their Republic earns its place through trading their marvels of engineering to other nations for hard currency, which they melt down into stock and translate into their own currency, known simply as credits. Each island is its own independent state, and the whole archipelago is governed by a centralized Senate, which is overseen by a High Chancellor, who is elected upon the death of the previous High Chancellor by popular vote. Senators are elected every two years.

Many Kantonese live very happy, exciting, and somewhat enlightened lives by raising and training pokemon caught in the wild. Their entire culture pretty much revolves around this. The people who don't choose to spend their lives becoming Pokemon Masters, generally are all either house-wives/husbands or upper-management of some sort, and pokemon trainers train pokemon to do the rest of the work. Most Pokemon Trainers usually leave their homelands with their pokemon, after they feel they've learned all they can from the small islands. They leave for many reasons, to search for foreign pokemon, as missionaries, as business representatives, or even purely for the adventure. A Kantonese that decides to go out as a missionary or adventuring along the Acolyte's Path, is considered Aeonic, as their deities are all flesh and blood legendary pokemon. Legendary pokemon are not truly Aeons, and are in no way related to any of the Living Gods, but are worshiped in a similar fashion and are similarly powerful. The Legendary Pantheon consists of Myu, the Mother Goddess, Arceus the creator, their three Houses of Dragons, Beasts, and Birds, and their Messagers, Celebi and Jirachi.

In the House of Dragons sit Dialga, overseer of Time, and Palkia, overseer of Space. Below them sit Rehsarim and Zekrom, the balance keepers of the House of Dragons. They oversee the machinations of the House's inhabitants. The other Great Dragon is Giratina, who provides safe passage for the dead and any other souls that seek to cross between planes. The Lesser Dragons are Kyurum, the Lord of Ice, Rayquaza, the Lord of the Sky, and the little gods, the Latios and Latias.

The House of Beasts is governed by Groudon, the Earth King, and Kyogre, the Ocean King. They answer only to Myu Herself. In their House sit Darkrai, the Trickster, Crescellia, the Dreamer, Heatran, the Rage, Shaymin, the Spirit of Freedom, and the four Ancient Gigas. The chaotic and misunderstood Demigod Myutsu, the only known direct offspring of Myu, is said to have found his way to reside here as well.

The lofty House of Birds is ruled by the Sun God, Ho'oh, and the Moon Goddess, Lugia. Their children play in the Garden, their happiness radiates as the source of Arcaine magick. Zapdos, the oldest son, provides Lightning, Articuno, the only daughter, provides Ice, and Moltres, the youngest son, provides Fire. The Bird Gods keep three given from the House of Beasts as Guardians. The Guardians are Suicune, the Misty Wolf, Raikou, the Stormy Tiger, and Entie, the Fiery Lion. Lesser Gods and common pokemon of all sorts are welcome in the Garden, but Humans who wish to enter will be tested by the Guardians first.

These Houses are all real places in Kanto, and have been observed from great heights by airships. Their location, however, seems to constantly change, and it is impossible to map their locations. Nobody has ever seen any of these places more than once, and nobody who has ever attempted to enter the Garden has ever returned.

Racial Abilities

Tier 1

Sensible- see above.

Electric/Icy Nature (P)- see above.

*Pokemon Empathy (P)- Many Kantonese have grown up around pokemon, and understand them very deeply. Pokemon are intelligent creatures, and many of them find ways of communicating on some level with humans, but only those who posses Pokemon Empathy are able to decipher the meaning of their efforts. A Pokemon Empath is just beginning to really understand pokemon, and seeks to spend more time among them, and less with his or her native race.

Common Grounds- (prerequisite Sensible) This social maneuver is unique to the Kantonese, they are able to stabilize unsteady situations by manipulating magick through words. They spend 10 FP and deliver a short speech to whomever they are trying to sway, forging trust in the process. The target is convinced that they aren't so different, and will conduct its self in a civilized manner.

*This Ability is the first in a path that forms a Racial Class, and it can become available to any character of any race or sub-race, if the character takes a home in the Republic, and spends at least a few years living and working with pokemon.
