The Machina Nobody quite knows the origins of the mysterious Machina Tribes, and some still don't even believe they exist. They do exist, however, out in the unexplored Outer Ring, roaming the islands in a nomadic fashion. In truth, the Machina have been around longer than even the mighty Koopas, and with the arrival of the technophile Humans, their numbers have increased in a sense, though few man-made Machina and even fewer Cyborgs elect to join the Old Ones in the Outer Ring. Machina come in all shapes and sizes, the one unifying feature that makes one a Machina is a sense of self-awareness. Any machine that values its own existence, and possesses intelligence is considered Machina. The majority of the androids have been built in the past 20 years, and of that majority, nearly all live on Moebius, under the charismatic leadership of the Cyborg, Dr. Ivan Robotnik in his ever-growing city, Robotropolis. The rest of the majority exist scattered throughout the Human Kingdom in the Hinterlands, few and far-between. The smaller percentage are known as the Old Ones. These Machina wander the Outer Ring islands, scavenging whatever they can to reproduce and make repairs. Some rumors from Human explorers suggest that they gather in ancient megalithic city-structures that lay well-hidden in the unexplored outer reaches. Unlike the other races of Fallen Dreams, the Machina are not biological, and do not interact in any way with the world's magick. For all intents and purposes, the Machina are not alive, and do not posses FP or POW. Instead all of their abilities are charged by SORCE, a refined mineral with similar properties to magicite that is used as fuel in one way or another by most of the world. Because they can not use magick, they can not fill roles involving magick, and therefore can not take levels in any class or multiclass based around the Mage's Path or Druid's Path, though SORCE can still be used to attain the effects of spells based around the Acolyte's Path. Machina believe that SORCE gives them their awareness of self, and believe in it as their equivalent to God. SORCE Acolytes are considered Aeonic, their patron deity being SORCE. Racial Abilities Tier 1 Anthropoid Shaped (P)- Your body was built along a skeletal chassis, and when wearing a cloak or similar garment, you appear indistinguishable from a Human, Hylian, Half-Breed, or any other Anthropoid race from as close as ten paces. Monster Shaped (P)- Your body was built on a bestial chassis, from a distance you appear to be a beast of some sort. When wearing a cloak or similar garment, you can resemble a Koopa, Y'oster, Kremlin, or any other Beast race from as close as ten paces. Synthetic Skin (P)- A silicate-based micro-weave fabric covers your synthetic muscles, providing a soft touch and exceptional grip. You will seem like any other living creature to the touch, and will even bleed when cut, though the various fluids that bleed through do not resemble blood in the slightest. Carapace Armor (P)- The bulk of your body is protected within a metal, ceramic, or silicate shell or carapace. This effectively makes you immune to most blade and arrow attacks unless they are carefully aimed at your weak points, and yes you do have weak points. Natural Weapon (P)- Your design includes a built in way of defending yourself, a weapon that can not be disarmed. You could have claws, built-in gambits, a heavy tail, or even a built in gun. Feel free to get creative. |
